What a beautifully kept site. Very neat and tidy. Toilets and showers immaculate. Beautiful area.
Well done to Sue and her team.
Oakham a must visit.
Windmill a must see.
Melton Mowbray, mixed feelings.
Stamford, wow. So much history and a stunning town.
Must visit again just to go back there.

We have just spent 5 nights at this peaceful site and absolutely loved it. Very neat and tidy site, hard standing pitch with e/h, nice and level so no problems with setting up. Lots of bird life for the ornithologists. The toilet/shower block is small but extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean. Owners and wardens very friendly and helpful. Honesty shop on site selling fundamentals. Tiny but lovely swimming pool. Approx 1m to local village with shop and pub serving good food and real ale at reasonable prices. Very handily placed for visiting Oakham, Rutland water and Melton Mowbray. Will definitely return.

We stayed here for a week in july in a motorhome. The pitches are a nice size and water is close by. Most are hard standing. No drain for waste water but the hedges like the extra water. A very well kept shower and loo for ladies and a separate one for men. A small shop with lots of ideas for things to do. The village is not far away and you can get a bus to lots of destinations. The lakes at Rutland water is quite a distance on bikes as the main road is dangerous but use small roads and it is lovely. We did not cycle around the lake as we were wore out when we got there. If you have a car then no problem. Although the site is rural there is traffic noise from main road and also locals on lane driving far to fast. Pubs and shop in village. Small pool on site and free wifi so an excellent choice.

Just returned home after excellent stay at this site, first of all very friendly staff. The owner is lovely and genuinely makes you feel welcome, as stated in other reviews the site is immaculate and loads of space between units. Good location free WiFi and all manner of produce to make your stay easier this is my first review of a site we have stayed at and the owner well deserves it

We are now sadly coming to the end of our stay at Greendale. This will be our 17th annual visit to this Adults Only site, home being in Northern Ireland. We look forward each year to our visit to this immaculate piece of heaven. The owners, Sue and Ian, have been joined this season by wardens Lynn and Mick, all very helpful and informative to guests.
Being disabled I find the level site very disabled friendly. Toilet, showers, washing up facilities and office all on the level. The honesty shop stocked with local goodies like honey, pickles and the locally milled flour as well as a few essentials. The huge eggs are a must buy! A washing machine and the use of fridge and freezing facilities for campers are also in the shop. (Plus leaflets and info on local places of interest). Really SO much I'm sorry if I've missed any.
The emphasis on 'green' and recycling very much to the fore. Waste water directly draining to the hedge or empty your grey water around the plants. The sewage recycling system is the same as we have at home and some campers would not be used to being off the main system so care is needed to place any sanitary products in the bins provided and not down the loo.
I did read a rather unfriendly report that dogs are not welcomed. On the contrary WELL BEHAVED dogs are more than welcome, our two dogs look forward to their visit as much as ourselves. Bagged poop simply goes into the non recycle bins on site as per council instructions unless you are walking to the village where the doggie bin is at the end of the lane. Seven 'happy camper dogs' have been on site this visit. No probs!
I apologise if I've missed out on anything. For those who have never visited Greendale I would highly recommend going, I only wish MY garden was half as nice as this slice of Heaven!

We visited greendale as it was advertised as a tranquil site. It is very well kept & the facilities are spotlessly clean.
Personally, we found the pitches rather close together, and the site rather regimented, with do's & don't's notices in the public areas. In our opinion, it is rather overrated & over priced, compared to some equally peaceful sites we have visited over the years.
We were a little disappointed with the pool, as it looks much bigger on the photographs, and as an adult only site, wondered why supervision is required when using it? But maybe that's a health & safety issue. Also even though only £1 a day charge, is that really necessary when paying quite a lot for a pitch?
All in all, it is a nice site, but we have stayed at more tranquil places, so wouldn't return.

We were looking for a chilled out trip away, we were over the moon with our choice of location. We were met by Ian and shown to our pitch, Sue later visited us and passed on her wealth of local knowledge. The site was immaculate, beautifully landscaped and wonderfully quiet. The small on site shop with an honesty box was a lovely reminder of the days gone by when trust and respect were a normal part of life. The closeness to Melton Mobray and Oakham make this site a wonderful base camp to explore the area. The two pubs in Whissendine are both dog friendly and there is a well stocked village shop where you can order your newspapers. We wanted a chilled out break and we got it. Will definitely return.

Everything that has been said about this site is true with bells on! I woke up at 9:40 am on Saturday morning as there was not a sound from fellow campers only birds & sheep! The facilities are immaculate with some lovely homely touches such as sun block, creams etc in the ladies. The shop though small has everything in it & it's run on an honesty box system. Free range eggs available as well as a fridge just for tent campers. Sue is so friendly, kind & helpful which I think is the reason why all the campers whether tent, caravan, trailer tent or camper van are friendly to each other. Putting up our tent on Friday in the sun was a hot experience but the motorhome couple next to us came across with 2 cold beers as soon as it was up! The pub in Whissendine does lovely food & real ale just up the road. If you want a lovely area to visit, total peace, a friendly atmosphere & amazing wardens & owners all packed in an immaculate small site then this is the place for you.

We've just come back from a long weekend at this site. It is very clean and beautifully manicured with a peaceful rural feel. We didn't meet the owners as they were away but were greeted upon arrival by a lady who stood making sure we pitched the caravan correctly despite the torrential rain.
A word of caution to dog owners - this site is dog tolerant, not dog friendly. We were repeatedly advised to ensure we picked up our dogs mess (which we've always done, for all the dogs we've owned) and told the dog was not allowed to urinate on the grass at the site. When I enquired about the location of the dog waste bin I was told it was half a mile away at the village and also told to ensure I picked up the dog mess if in the village as villagers had been complaining about visitors from the camp site not cleaning up after their dogs! Fellow campers with dogs advised they had been told the same.
There are recycling bins on the site for paper, cardboard, food (not cooked) glass, cans, plastics and general land fill waste.
There is an honesty shop on the site selling numerous local goods such as flour, jams and fresh eggs. The ladies and gents have 1 shower each which we never had a problem using and are very clean, as are the toilets.
We were told to use pipes from our caravan to empty our waste dish water into the hedge as there is nowhere to empty your grey water. For chemical waste there is one open drain with a lid next to the entrance gate that you have to swill out with water from a watering can.
There are 'do not' signs everywhere; do not use talc, do not take shoes into the shower, do not flush anything other than what you've produced down the loo with the exception of loo roll. Clean your hair from the drain etc. We were instructed to ensure the car was moving when the steering wheel was turned on the grass.
We visited the local pub in Whissendine (the White Lion) and as other reviewers have noted, the food and company was lovely, the White Lion also allow dogs in the bar where you can order food and sample local ales. Rutland water is a short drive from the site and is a lovely place to visit.
Due to feeling that dogs aren't particularly welcomed, they're tolerated - we won't be staying here again.

Just had three wonderful days at this gem of a site. Well looked after and cared for, with great attention to detail. Facilities are very clean, and the views across the fields are excellent. The site has won several conservation awards and the owner puts a lot of time and effort into encouraging wild flowers to grow, and birds to visit, the multitude of feeders and boxes around the site.
Plenty to do in the area, and the village pub was well recommended, although we struggled to find time to visit it.
