This is a really great site, the owners are really really friendly and helpful, we rang last minute for the bank holiday and were made very welcome, the site is so clean, peaceful and pleasant, I could go on and on.

The shower blocks are extremely well looked after and spotlessly clean. The only negative was that its not to well lit on a night so best to take a torch to access the toilets.

The warm croissant's ordered for breakfast are a real treat and the goose eggs are amazing.

We will definitely be returning for another trip next year

Adults only site which was not a problem for us and added to the enjoyment of our stay.

Spent 6 nights here, site is immaculate, clean modern toilet & shower block and electric hook-up on a level pitch with good space for our Outwell Montana 6.

Site is easy to get to just off the main road and a good pub at the top by the roundabout.

Recommend the freshly cooked bread - you need to order it the day before, and is lovely for a fresh bacon sandwich or two :-)

While we were there, we were lucky enough to experience the solar meteor shower - its beauty enhanced by the lack of background light.

Getting around the site at night can be a bit tricky as there is no mains lighting (not a criticism) so would suggest taking a torch or two.

Would definitely go again though our preference is East Devon in terms of location.

This is a really good site and Jan and Chris are very friendly and keep everything spotlessly clean. We stayed here for two weeks and never had to queue for showers and what I especially liked was the non slip flooring which really was non slip!Others have sung the praises of the site in many ways which I agree with so will try to add info on area.

We found that driving into Okehampton there is Waitrose, Somerfield and Lidl all together with easy parking for motorhomes so all good for food shops. We went into Exeter one day for a look round and used the Park and Ride at Matford which is found off the A30 on the A379 and this park has about 10 spaces outside the main area which are just for vehicles over about 6'6' and you pay £2 per person return to get the bus into Exeter and back and it makes life so much easier than looking for parking without barrier restrictions!

There are loads of places within easy reach from this site and of course Dartmoor itself which is wonderful but please beware of which roads to go down! There is a map available from Exeter tourist board which colour codes the roads to the size of vehicles and it is advisable to keep to the bigger ones with the motorhomes as we accidentally found our way down one where we filled the road from hedge to hedge for miles-ok until you meet something!

Wouldn't hesitate to reccommend this site to anyone!

A well laid out site always clean and tidy. A lot of care is being taken to encourage the wild life lots of small birds seemed to be regular visitors.

The owners were always helpful and must have kept the cleanest toilets in Britain. We also made use of the daytime dog kennel service which allowed us to relax on a day out with no worries about our pet.

Unless you want to get the car out the nearest pub is not easy to get to as there is no path along the main road, so it is advised to stock up your caravan. T.V reception is not great without an external ariel, as our neighbours found to their cost so shared ours for the football!

We love walking but unless we did not find them the paths to anywhere are quite restricted as you soon reach a road, however a short drive to Fingles wood opened up lots of possibilities and some first rate Sunday lunch at the pub. Again another place that I would not mind returning to.

Being completely new to caravanning, we wanted somewhere which would be easy to get to, not too big, good facilities, dog friendly, in a scenic area where we could enjoy some peace and quiet. Woodland Springs met all of our criteria and more.

Chris and Jan are friendly and welcoming and clearly work very hard to keep the site in optimum condition. The toilets, showers, and dish washing facilities are excellent and kept meticulously clean. The information hut and provision of a fresh coffee machine, (not to mention the availability each morning of freshly baked bread, croissants, pain au chocolat etc) were an added bonus.

Thanks to clear skies at night we were treated to the most amazing starry skies (no light pollution here!) and the 'silent hours' are respected so you really can get a good nights sleep.

The only slight negative (which I think could be said at any site which uses chippings on hardstandings) was the amount of dust generated by them which seemed to get everywhere.

We have just spent 2 weeks at Woodland Springs and were very impressed with the site as a whole and Chris & Jan's efficient approach to running the site.

The toilet / washing up block was always immaculate and the freezer for ice blocks was a good touch. The fresh bread in the morning was ideal for making a packed lunch, and who could argue with a fresh croissent and ground coffee for breakfast!

The fact that the site is adult only was the icing on the cake, and made for a very civilised experience.

There is an abundance of birds on the site which were relaxing to watch, and the dog enjoyed looking at the rabbits!

On the last night we finally got around to walking to the pub, which can be reached by avoiding the main road and going along a bridleway and minor road, and on a winters evening we could imagine it being very cosy - and it is doggy friendly.

All in all an excellent site, and we will be back!

Arrived and was shown where our pitch was with no fuss. We were near the main road but you would not think it, noise was minimal. We had a massive pitch with electric hookup. Toilet and showers immaculate. I never had to queue for the showers but my wife did a couple of times but not for long but it was August.

Washing up room was clean as was the utility room with washing machine tumble dryers and ironing board and iron. The information hut was very good, neat and tidy and well thought out with stacks of leaflets. Coffee machine and Free freezer to use.

You can order fresh bread and baguettes on site, great idea. Jan and Chris keep everything clean and tidy and are friendly and helpful with directions etc.

Nearest pub 30 mins walk along main road no path way, not recommended although you can go via the bridle path in daylight. Would recommend to anyone and will return.Good quality adults only site

My husband and I recently stayed at Woodland Springs for our inaugural camping trip! Even before we got to the site, at the time of making the booking we found Chris & Jan really helpful in terms of giving us guidance and advice (but not in a patronising way) given this was our first camping experience!

A big plus for us was the fact it is an ‘Adults Only’ site; we have no issue with having children around but we just fancied going somewhere that was child-free for our first trip! Maybe it was the fear of an over-eager youngster observing our attempts to pitch our tent for the first time and then laughing hysterically at us when we became entangled in a sea of guy ropes and tent canvas!

We arrived at the site on Friday afternoon and Chris greeted us in a prompt and friendly manner, showing us to our pitch and leaving us to do battle with our tent for the first time! We settled in quickly and our initial impressions of the site were really good – the facilities seemed immaculate (as per many previous comments) with nice touches such as the coffee machine in the Information Point, plus freezer facility (free of charge) for ice blocks.

The dog exercise area was perfect for first/last wees of the day (our dog, not us!) but with so many fabulous walks on the doorstep, you really wouldn’t need to use the field for anything more than a quick canine leg stretch.

The toilet/showers were immaculate – far cleaner in fact than many hotel bathrooms I have experienced (and as airline cabin crew, that’s a fair few bathrooms!). The washing up area was never busy when we used it and again, kept scrupulously clean. The quiet policy was adhered to which made the site lovely and peaceful during the wee small hours.

The only downside to our weekend was when my husband’s car broke down when we were out on the Saturday afternoon; we had to get towed back to the site on a recovery truck! Chris was incredibly helpful regarding that, guiding in the recovery vehicle when we arrived back and being totally flexible about how the car was left when it came off the back of the vehicle! We decided to return to Somerset (again, on the back of an AA tow truck!) on the Sunday, a day early but prior to that, Chris had told us that if we needed to stay longer than our original booking, in order to get the car fixed locally, he would sort out us staying on that pitch (even though it was booked to someone else on the Monday) and that he would re-jiggle the bookings if needs be. In summary, despite the unforeseen hassle of the car breaking down, it was a great first camping experience and the site deserves its excellent reputation.

Chris & Jan have clearly worked hard to earn that reputation but certainly don’t seem to rest on their laurels and their ongoing hard work, commitment and enthusiasm makes this site one which we will definitely return to, hopefully in the very near future.

This was the best campsite I have ever stayed at and would definitely like to stay at again.

The site is not too big, with ample facilities even when full. There is a small shop with the essentials eg fresh milk and you can pre-order fresh bread the night before. There is a nice new toilet / shower facility with disabled access. The showers were always hot with good water pressure. There is a washing up facility with boiling hot water and a small laundrette with a couple of washer/dryers and even an ironing board.

The site is Adult only, we really appreciated how quiet the site was after 11pm. On one morning we were woken by a noisy neighbour, wanting its breakfast, but I think I may have had it later that evening for dinner at the Drewe Arms (which is a really nice pub)

We had electric hookup for our tent (was only a few pound more) whic was great, could boil my kettle in 2 minutes.

The site is not far from the A30 - with good access for caravans and motorhomes. We stayed in a tent and only heard the main road once during our stay when it was really windy, although there was little traffic at night anyway.

We visited castle drogo which is only a short drive, and took advantage of the early bird deal, (free entry) at around 10am.

There is a nice waitrose and somerfield in Okehampton which again is only a short drive.

On our last morning we had breakfast at littlechef, which was only a couple of miles away and it was really nice.

The only downfall is the pub is not a nice walk (down a fast stretch of road with no footpath) so bring your own!

A nicely laid out site with good facilities which were pretty new when we were there. The toilets flushed OK although my wife had to report a near overflowing situation in the ladies. The water came warm quickly for hand washing.

The site could have been more pleasing to the eye if all the road chippings had been the same colour. Unfortunately we accidently arrived an hour to soon at 12 noon and did not get a very good welcome, which is off putting when you have been on the road for 5 hours.

A good stopover site for us and we will use it again but slightly expensive we thought.
