WOW - what a superb tent and a bargain as well (thanks Halfords)Bought it at beginning of July 2009 for £199 (its now £350 lol)and took it to Greenhills, Bakewell for first time - took 20 minutes for me and the lad to pitch it.Soooo easy and there's masses of room in the living area particularly but also in the bedrooms.Packs away very easily into the suitcase - yes it's heavy, but the straps assist in moving it around.
Thanks Hi-Gear - what an excellent product !

This is our first tent and we used it for the first time this week. I absolutely love this tent! Wouldn't be able to put it up on my own as someone has to go inside to lift the 3 main poles up but thats why its a family tent; you don't use it on your own.
It is huge. Everyone was commenting on it, but we bought it for the space, as other tents we have camped in have been tiny and claustrophobic.
As others have said, there are lots of gimmicky bits that go with it that are very handy and add to its appeal.
I definitely recommend this tent

This is the 2009 pale blue model. It is cavernous, with a cathedral like living space which is 12 feet across. We took it to Snowdonia last year where the weather was foul for the first few days. On arrival, we saw people dumping much more expensive, steel poled tents into the bin and driving off, having been wrecked by the wind and rain. The Sahara weathered all of this effortlessly. It bent and it shook, but it never leaked a drop and it never broke a single pole or loosened a guy line.
It is an effort to put up, and it's not a tent which you can erect in 20 minutes. It's also extremely heavy, at 37KG! In terms of living space, stability and weatherproofing, it is supreme. Regularly on offer at Go Outdoors for around £200 it is a bargain. Be warned that some sites will not allow pitching of such a beast - it has a 25x23 feet footprint!

We bought this tent off Ebay for £200 brand new and was a worthwhile investment. We bought the footprint too which was a massive help when erecting the tent. We've just recently bought a carpet for it but decided on the Gelert beyond zenith 6 one as we preferred the colour and it fits perfectly. This was also cheaper than the Hi gear equivalent, it was £54 (inc p&p) from campmania.
It is very simple and self explanatory to erect. It took us a couple of hours to put it up but it was very windy.
We love the fact that it has a built in groundsheet as the dogs can't escape!
We've just used it for the 1st time for 4 days and can't wait to use it again in July for a week in Wales.
Would highly recommend

Absolutely love it.
We bought this tent to replace our trusty old tunnel tent. My daughters liked the Sahara 6 due to the separate bedroom pods. Go Outdoors was brilliant as the tents were on display so we could walk through & around the tents.
This tent is cavernous! Plenty of room, plenty of light & lovely design touches which I would normally associate with much more expensive tents.
We also bought the optional carpet & footprint which both proved to be worthwhile purchases.
I cannot fault this tent yet. Fairly simple to put up and it looks sturdy enough to withstand the worst the British weather can throw at it.
We can put our dining table & 4 chairs in the centre & still have room to walk around plus the girls can have their own room!
Brilliant.

The Sahara 6 is the tent to turn heads! We've used it over a dozen times and it's still as good as new despite hot sun blazing down on it, not forgetting the recent torrential rain and heavy winds which it kept out.
The Sahara 6 has 3 separate bedrooms which is great as you don't have to sleep next to another bedroom as they all go off from the main tent in separate directions.
As only two of use the tent normally, we use the centre pod as the bedroom as it has a fully opening door on the outer shell, but the inner lining can be closed leaving just a mesh so you can keep cool on a warm night without fear of midgies sneaking into the bed. The other pods we use one as a storage and one as the toilet.
The main dome itself is large enough to place two double airbeds ONTOP of the 3 bedrooms and leave ample room, the tent really is huge! Although classed as a 6 berth you easily sleep 10 people. The main dome has a triangular skylight which has a cover should the sun be too strong it also has two huge side windows with foldaway blinds and two smaller windows to the rear also with foldaway blinds and fly mesh which can be closed from outside with plastics covers to keep the rain out.
The Sahara 6 also has two small openings so you can run your electric cable easily. You also have inner Velcro roof straps so you can run a cable to the centre light.
The Sahara 6 comes with two drink holders which simply hook into the back walls of the tent and two storage holders about 4 foot wide by 2-3 foot high.
The front of the tent has a canopy, which we have learned during a rain storm can be left up but still keep the rain out by removing one of the 3 poles on one side so the canopy is at a slope and angling it toward the direction of the rain, you can then sit under the canopy and watch the world go by.
I will confess, the first time putting this tent up would make you feel like taking it back as it does have loads of guy ropes, I think it took us 2 hours the first time. It now takes less than 45 minutes to put up and is well worth the time as it's as big as a house (almost).
To have a look at this tent in action take a trip to your local Go-Outdoors, it's worth every penny as it has the space, keeps out the heavy rain and has loads of ventilation to keep out the heat. I wouldn't swap this tent if someone offered me a free upgrade! We also have the carpet which at £70 really does make a difference to the tent and we use a picnic blanket for the canopy/outer doorway area. We be using again in a couple of weeks and will be buying the canopy to add even more space.

Love it! We bought ours from go outdoors for £229.99 which was a bargain. Also bought footprint. Put up in the pouring rain. Arrived at the site at 6.15 and we were drinking a cold cider by 7.30! that includes blowing up beds and setting up electric etc. It poured down all night and it stayed dry and cosy. We have had a large tent before and are a double act as we both know our jobs so probably quicker than a novice camper.
We have been keeping an eye on the costs of the canopy and carpet and have just purchased as they have become half price. Thank goodness we waited. This is definitely the tent that will give others tent envy!

Just arrived home after spending three nights in out new Sahara 6 tent. We brought as price was excellent at £229 and the space fantastic for a family. Both my children can have there own pod if required which will be handy in years to come as they get older. Living area perfect space you can really live in this tent. We only booked three nights as we always feel ready to come home in our smaller more compact tent after a couple of nights, wish we booked longer as a family (and dog)in all weather you can really live in this tent.
The footprint is a must with this tent as you can really plan where to place it due to its shape this really helps. We spent ages deciding. The carpet is also a excellent purchase and adds to comfort. Sewn in ground sheet also a big plus.
Overall if you are looking for space and comfort this is a great family tent would highly recommend cannot wait to go camping again now.
Pretty straight forward to put up and take down no real issues there. Was worried after one comment about pitch sizes and price due to size of tent. No problem so far most campsites now accommodate for the larger tents being manufactured today.

We have used this tent a few times, now. We have got the hang off putting it up takes about 40mins, husband even managed to put up with a 7yr old, as we need to dry tent in garden, I managed with the 7yr old to get down to. We did think about pitch sizes but all camp sites we have used have been fine with the tent and canopy on. Great tent keeps rain out and still have space to sort things out, kids even have there own sleeping area. We have brought canopy gives lots more space for cooking even in the rain with a windbreak infront, footprint (great to work out where to pitch the tent) and carpet, give more luxury in cool nights.
Would highly recommend for a family

Love the pod set up as I have older children. Great head room in the central dome and adequate in pods to stand and get dressed. Plenty of storage pockets. Easy enough to put up - I did it with a 7 and an 8 year old! You can leave the pod inners attached when you take it down as the tent folds easily into its bag. The first time I used it was a horribly wet and windy few days and it withstood the battering - other people were having to redo guy ropes and pegs each morning but ours had stood firm! On the opposite extreme, I have just returned from a week of exceptionally hot weather where I have had to make full use of the ventilation features.
The only downside is that there is no obvious place to put the 'kitchen' which is a pity considering the size. I did buy the canopy which is a very generous size but because it has no zip door, food has to be kept in the main living area away from local badgers/foxes/hedgehogs.
