This tent ticks all the boxes for us, Vango have put a good deal of thought into the Artemis, it's very easy to erect, and the colour coded steel poles certainly add strength. The 500 will comfortably sleep four has an airy feel due it's large front windows, side window and side door with mosquito/fly mesh. The sewn in groundsheet keeps you snug and there are plenty of storage pockets.
For the taller folk, not me. I'm a tall dwarf, there is the added bonus of a raised middle section so loads of standing height. An added bonus-the canopy poles were included.Thumbs up from us!

We bought this tent to use as a smaller tent for weekend trips as the large tent took too much time in erecting and dismantling. We also purchased the porch, carpet and footprint. I love this tent! it was very quick and easy to put up and could probably be done by one as ours mainly was due to me running around after our 3 year old. The porch was used as the kitchen area, which left more room inside the actual tent. I was worried after having the luxury of space in the Diablo 900 that we would feel cramped but that was not the case. However, there was only 2 adults and one child. I feel it would be a bit of a squeeze for all five but would still be ok for four.We did have good weather, so cannot rate it durability, but do not envisage any problems with it. Would recommend it.

Grabbed a bargain,£150 at Wynfields in Hull. Chose this model due to the steel tube frame.Really sturdy when erected.A real easy tent to put up and eventually take down, fits back in bag with all the bits real easy too. We spent a week in Cornwall just gone(August 2010),3 good days followed by 4 days of rain.We had no problems and felt really snug and dry. The bedroom is really big for us 2.We took the partition out and had 2 cot/campbeds with quilts on with loads of room to get up either side.
No problems with mozzies with this tent, the mesh screens are great and give an airy feeling when open. On the good days we had the front flap open and used the poles supplied to support the flap along with the guy ropes. All in all an absolute gem of a tent for us. Our next purchase will be the carpet for a bit of added luxury. We really thought we would struggle camping as we both have bad backs and I have arthritis in my knees but can honestly say that it was a joy with the tent, easy to erect and loads of room for 2 to move about easily(i am 6ft tall). We look forward to many more holidays away and using our Vango.A great tent 10/10

Bought our tent in June for £170. This was well below the RRP price and shows the value of doing some searches on the internet before ordering. Also got the footprint (£20), which I think was worth it. We've used the tent three times since June for short breaks, including one trip where there was some heavy rain.
The tent is quite heavy because of the steel poles. However, if you don't have to carry it far, I don't think this is a problem. The advantage of the poles are that they make the tent robust: which was apparent from the way it kept its shape well and didn't move about in the wind. It accommodated two adults and two children fine + all our junk. I think it's therefore about ideal for what we wanted - a reasonably spacious 'basecamp' tent that could be used for exploring an area for a couple of days, was easy to erect and is capable of withstanding bad weather if used on exposed campsites. I'd therefore be happy to recommend it to friends.

As first time campers, my partner and I were anxious to get something easy to put up and we were not disappointed. Although we were complete dummies, neither of us ever having erected more than a sunshade in the garden, we managed to put this up without too many arguments and after putting it up once, feel quite confident that we could get the thing up in under half an hour, no problem. Quite heavy with steel poles, but probably more robust and wind-proof than some. We had torrential rain and wind during the night. The tent stood up to this with flying colours. It stayed as dry as a bone did not flap about or anything. Nice and spacious for the two of us. We also bought the canopy which we did not put up as we were only there for a short stay. The carpet gives a cosy feel and is nice to walk on if not wearing shoes.

Great value, very spacious tent. I'm 6'2' tall and can stand in it no problem. Nice big windows let lots of light in and nice big doors make for easy access with kids coming and going. The sleeping compartment was plenty big enough for our family of 4 with airbeds. With proper camping mattresses 5 should be no problem.
Stood up well to some fairly strong wind and heavy rain on an exposed cliff top campsite. Easy to erect although you need two adults (or a tall, competent older child and an adult). Integrated fly-sheet keeps the drafts and ground-water out well.

We have recently bought our Vango Artemis 500 from a well-known online auction site, and decided to road test it over the August bank holiday. Having only attempted to erect it once in our front garden, we found it incredibly easy, although as a package, it is heavy to carry. There are 3 steel poles. All are colour coded, and match little tags on the canvas, so there is no way of getting it wrong. We also used a Vango footprint designed for the Artemis 500, although found that the tent is a little longer than the footprint when pegged out. Not enough to get worked up about though. Once up, we found that there was plenty of space for 2 adults, although as a living space, it would be cramped for 5 people, especially once you have a table, coolbox, cooker etc. Also the inner tent would be more suitable for 3 to sleep comfortably with airbeds - 5 would be a squash. Overall, we found it to be nice and light, yet at night with a light on inside, it remained private, without displaying silhouettes against the canvas.
Overall, we would recommend this tent to anyone.

We bought this because our previous, much larger, tent was destroyed by high winds and the steel poles seemed like a good bet.
It is very easy to pitch and for three adults on a 2 night stay it was perfect, but if our 16 year old son had come too it would not have been big enough. It would suit a family of four with children up to about 10, but a family of five would find it a squash.
We bought ours in a sale at Wingfields, Hull, and it came with a free carpet. I probably would not have wanted to pay the advertised price.
Wingfields also had the similar Icarus on display, and would definitely go for the Artemis of the two.

We purchased this tent second-hand as a retail return with a little trepidation, but found it was in superb condition.
Only paid £85 + shipping so a bargain! tested it over a cold weekend in Feb and it was superb. Easy to put up, sturdy due to the steel poles (Fibre Glass on other Models) and a fully sewn in groundsheet. Took no more than 30 minutes first time and I am sure it will be faster in the future, nice taught panels with out to much adjusting, I always find that is the thing that takes the most amount of time.
Well thought out use of space and clever design features for clips, hooks and fasteners etc…
Was draft and damp free, roomy and comfortable with great head height ( I am 6’2” and it ideal) and didn’t seem to get blown about either staying rigid.
Highly recommended as a Weekend Tent/Touring Tent for 2-3, but would agree with other reviews in that 5 would be a real push, but with just me and my wife it is perfect!
Add in the Footprint and fitted carpet and it is as close to a 10/10 as you can get.
Some have said heavy, but we found it fine (used to a Eurohike Buckingham 8) and if it is more than the fibre glass version, it’s more than worth it given the extra rigidity gained. Touring in Italy later this year and sure it will be excellent.
The later models are supposed to be even better - But at a Price of course!
Absolutely delighted at a total investment of just £139. (nice colours too ‘Laurel/Meadow)

We have used our Artemis on a few trips, in all weathers and it has performed really well, it withstands strong winds and rain.
I liked this tent as the sleeping works well with a 3 and 2 person split, the only downside is that the dividing panel is only secured at the corners and not fastened all the way round.
The large window at the front lets in lots of light and makes the tent seem spacious. It is quick and easy to erect, everything is colour coded for ease.
We do have the footprint and the carpet which makes it more comfortable. We have bought a Lichfield porch which fits well and gives additional space for cooking and storage for stays longer than a weekend.
I would highly recommend this tent.
