We decided to get as good a tent as possible to replace
Our static caravan regular weekends away (well kind of)
To get away with our children and grandkids for long weekends we spent ages on Google, read up on things like nylon V poly-cotton. The advantages of air beam tents, etc. We have enjoyed camping mainly bivvy bags not on camp sites , so don’t mind roughing it but we fancied a bit of so called Glamping.
(We now appreciate no such thing as glamping)
It really is easy enough to put up, not like the you tube video but still okay.
To be honest I had never heard of the “running in” seasoning period with poly-cotton, so the first outing (Yorkshire) produced the rain and unfortunate water ingress but not too much. After a few more outings all with some heavy rain I believe the fabric/stitches are now water tight (ish)
Reading these reviews I’ve been interested to read about the ponding around the air beam bases, I had the same problem.
I've used sealant on the suspect guide rope tabs that are on the air beam sections I also use some cut down rubber mat pads (cut from a door mat) which I now place under each tube base (under the ground sheet adjacent to the air beam termination point) as I think water is being pressured up though the seams/ground sheet through the downward pressure of the tube bases which must be a fair amount of pressure
Anyway no more problems with this ponding not sure which if any action has cured this problem but so far so good
Pros of the tent so far:
Stable, very roomy, (feels like we are in the static sometimes!)
Warm, little or no condensation, easy enough to erect and put way
Negatives Front door gets muddy.
You will use this door a lot for entry when it’s raining, (with kids especially) door bottom sections get flapped about in mud. Also trampled on It’s a pain to fold back and out again and keep out of harms way. Would be great if you could unzip a smaller section of this door for access .
Agree with other review poster the curtains fall out of the pockets and get soiled it would have been better having a tab or small zip (or stored sideways) to stop this additional risk of falling out and soiling.
Should have a fly net
Main gripe Leaks appearing on the air beam base sections (pools of water) this really shouldn’t happen in the first place why should you have to accept or try and remidy this?.

We recently bought the Kampa Croyde 6 tent to go 'nice weather camping' with our family of 4, 2 parents, 2 young kids (1.5 and 4.5). We specifically chose this tent because it's about the only one which has 3 bedrooms. It was a dissapointment for us to see that the bedroom walls weren't attached to the floors, hence they are useless, kids simply crawl beneath them.
However, the tent is large, easy to pitch (with 2 persons it took us about 40 minutes including all the pegs), and has lots of nice features like the powerchord entrance, lots of storage space, and so on.
However, we regret buying this tent. We should have bought the AIR version of it. The reason for this is simple; the supplied poles are crap, especially the bent roof parts. To keep the bend going in one direction (fixate it) they simply squashed the ends of the poles. This makes for a weak point, and sure enough, we had a pole break on that point. As did someone else in these reviews.
Also, it's not watertight. It will survice moderate rainfall without spoiling your holiday, but water will get in, both through the roof as through the seams and the bottom. For us this is not an issue since we simply break up and move if there's rain.
One thing which still boggles my mind; there's a line attached to the top middle of the second pole-arch. I really wonder what the designer was thinking on that. Maybe if you pitch the tent indoor, you can hook it up to the ceiling. I fail to see any other use for it.

Just bought the Series 3 version (2015) of this tent. We've only had it up in the back garden so far, but it seems like a great tent but I have knocked off a couple of stars because of some quality control issues which we are currently discussing with the retailer and Kampa.
The tent pitching is fairly straight forward for such a large tent, my wife was at work so I put it up by myself in about an hour, would definitely be easier with two but achievable on your own if needs be. I used the Cross Camping method which seems to make life easier for a large tunnel tent.
The tent is a great size, there are only the three of us but I would say the tent would be ideally suited up to a family of four. The bedrooms are split in a 2,2,2 configuration and at 1.3m are quite narrow. However the two partitions can both be unzipped giving one big bedroom, or as we have done remove one to give a large bedroom for me and the wife with our 9 year old daughter more than happy in the second smaller room. The only other thing to note here is that the bedroom partitions are not zipped at the bottom so they are loose at the bottom.
The living area is a good size (4.1 x 2.8) with plenty of room for furniture and a light airy space to spend rainy afternoons due to the large windows and light coloured roof which let in plenty of light. The curtains are neat when stowed in the full width pockets at the bottom of each window. No zipped curtains like the Montana 6p, they use toggles at the top to secure but they are a good fit. The only thing that would make the curtains better would be the option to toggle the windows half way as the windows are virtually full height of the tent wall and it would have been nice to have the option to only close half way. One thing to mention about the windows is that they are massive and may not suit everyone as it can lead to a 'living in a goldfish bowl' effect.
Three doors are available to use, two on either side to access straight into the living area and one at the front from under the canopy. The side doors have mesh panels but not the front which I found a little odd. One side door has a rainsafe brow canopy and the other side door can be used as a sun canopy with the included king poles.
The front door can be rolled back just for the door, half way or to fully open the front of the tent which is a nice touch. The option to fully open the front of the tent along with the side doors also means that the tent will be nice and cool on hot days, something definitely needed with a polyester tent.
The front canopy is a welcome feature which is permanently attached and provides ample area for cooking etc, especially if the optional vestibule is used which encloses the porch area. The canopy can be rolled back but this seems more of an afterthought and other than very windy weather or, because its a big tent, to squeeze into a smaller pitch I cannot see this feature being used much.
The tent is also only supplied with basic wire pegs, we have kept these for pegging the ring and pins at the bottom of the poles but have changed to rock/groundhog pegs for all the guying points etc.
The quality of the tent is a mixed bag for us, the tent itself is very good quality and is robust and strong however we have had several issues which can only be put down to Kampa's quality control:
The ground sheet had a couple of holes in it, we will always be using the footprint and carpet and the holes are eaily repaired so not much of a problem.
The factory sealing tape at the bottom of one of the windows was not applied properly over about 4 inches, again not a problem and will be easily fixed by a bit of sealant.
One of the roof pole joints bent when I was putting up the tent, this is being replaced free of charge, but may lead to some doubts over the strength of the steel poles.
A small snag/hole in the flysheet in the roof. We have discussed this with the retailer and we are going to try and repair with a bit of repair tape which will be hardly noticeable and will be purely cosmetic.
We have discussed the issues with the retailer and they have said we can replace the tent if we want, but I don't see the point of going through all the hassle (they are 150 miles away) for things that are easily repairable and they have offered a very good compensation package including all the repair material, replacement tent pole, free Storm tie down straps and a free vestibule for the front of the tent. We were going to buy the straps and vestibule anyway.
So all in all an excellent tent with spacious living accommodation but just let down by a few quality control issues.

We bought this tent last year as we wanted a more spacious and more sturdy tent and this one certainly fits the bill. I don't think I need to describe it's features as previous reviews have already done that, but I will say this - it's a great tent with plenty of room, in fact, it's massive, we went for a week's holiday to Norfolk and it stood up well to the wind,rain and beautiful sunshine. We bought the whole package, including ground sheet, carpet and vestibule, the ground sheet and carpet were fantastic, kept the tent really warm but the vestibule, on the other hand, whilst it was great to cook in when it was raining, it kept slipping down and everything got wet, I understand the later versions are made different and this problem is minimal now but we went and bought some plastic clamps which held it all in place. Also, although I love this tent, the main door is not zipped all the way round so the wind and creepy crawlies can get in, we bought some Velcro strips and stuck these on the bottom of the door to solve this, once these little problems were sorted it was fantastic, I love this tent, I would definitely recommend it, it is certainly worth buying

Just back from our very first proper camp in this tent and I thought it was brilliant! Plenty of room inside the living area for our sofa and still enough space to have little one cause havoc with hurting herself or anything else,bedrooms are also huge,we had a double height airbed, a single airbed, and a double wardrobe and there was still plenty of room to move about without banging into everything
We also got the vestibule and carpet as part of the deal, and after reading other review on the vestibule 'popping' off all the time I was a little dubious because we wanted to have the cooking/eating things out there. Well I cant fault it one bit. It came off the top maybe twice and tbh it was about 12inches that came off not the whole thing and it didnt really effect it in anyway either as I didnt notice this until morning.
It took us over an hour to trial pitch in our garden (with help from an 18mnth old). This time we got it to 40 minutes, not bad for us considering again we had distractions off little one. We are off again next weekend to kings lynn, just have to get a travel cot instead of single airbed. Shes just not ready for that yet!
The only thing I can fault the tent on is the zips are very stiff and a little awkward when the covering material gets caught up. Can the zips be lubed in anyway?

We are a family of four and had been looking to purchase a larger 6 berth tent which would give us plenty living space in case of poor weather (We camp a lot in Scotland!) So after hours of pouring over the tent reviews on this site we decided on the Kampa Croyde 6. We have not regretted it!
We searched around for a bargain price but most online retailers were all the same (£374.99) although we ended up paying more as we purchased the footprint and the tent carpet (which, having never had one before, is pure luxury). We purchased ours from Outdoor Megastore which gives free next day delivery, excellent service.
So far we've only had a trial run in the garden. First time took us 1hr 40 mins to erect, but it was relatively simple (we watched the youtube video for the Kampa Filey first which was helpful) and I'm sure we could pitch it in less than an hour next time.
We were impressed with the quality of the tent, poles and zips. Love the extra wide porch so you can cook in the rain and stay dry. It also comes with a separate ground sheet for this area which is included in the basic price. The bedroom would take 5 airbeds but I think 6 would be pushing it!
The loops for electric cables are also great (I've hung my solar powered Chinese lanterns from them and they look lovely - see my profile for picture). Interior pockets are also helpful. A particularly useful feature are the inner poles which are exposed so not only do they strengthen the tent in high winds but they're also great for hanging things on. We purchased a 'Kampa Max Hanger' for £2.99, also from Outdoor Megastore, which is great to hang up coats/utensils, anything really!
On the subject of high winds, we have taken advice from previous reviews and purchased some of the yellow Delta pegs for the corner guy lines for extra peace of mind.
The huge windows make it feel even more light and airy and the choice of 3 doors gives more flexibility when pitching and a good flow of air.
We can't recommend this tent highly enough and eagerly await for our first proper camping trip next month to really put it through its paces.

We love this tent! We purchased this for longer trips but have so far used it for shorter trips of 3 nights. It takes us just under an hour to put up, peg out and load up with bedding etc so about the same time as our 4 man Halfords tent that does not have a sig and is lots smaller. The bedroom space is huge. We open it up into one big space and OH and I use camp beds whilst the kids spread out on mats and lots of duvets and blankets. They really take over the 4 berth section and it's great they can have so much space to roll about in!
The living area is versatile - last time we were away it was quite wet so we had a fold out 4 person picnic table in the centre (this is usually outside under the canopy) plus 2 comfy chairs, a kampa khazi, hanging storage, large cool box and numerous storage bags all in the living area and did not feel cramped.
It was also windy and we felt snug, dry and safe inside!
If the weather is good we sit round the table under the canopy to eat and socialise - again there is more than enough space for this whilst keeping the doorway clear.
The only reason I have given this a 9 is that we have had to pack up quickly the last two times due to rain and at home we don't have enough room to fold it up properly so have never managed to get it back in the bag!

Having owned and still own a number of tents we bought the Kampa Croyde as a replacement for our ageing Outwell Vermont. First off I have to say that Kampas quality is equal to any of the major brands that we have owned and in my opinion the Croyde 6 is probably the best value 6 berth tent on the market
The tent comes in 2 bags, 1 for the poles and the other for the flysheet, bedrooms and canopy groundsheet. It was very easy to put up and once erected was extremely strong and stable due to the steel poles. Anybody having problems putting this tent up should have a look at the cross camping video on you tube. One thing I would recommend is upgrading the tent pegs for the guylines to 'delta' pegs for extra security in windy weather.
Once inside the tent has a sealed in groundsheet and is light and airy thanks to the large windows. The bedrooms are a bit wider than standard and can be either 1 large bedroom or divided into a 4-2 arrangement. Both side doors have flymesh so can be left open in hot weather without letting bugs in, one also has a rain canopy over it.
The fixed front canopy is a very useful addition and can be rolled back and tied up if not needed or if it gets too windy and comes with its own groundsheet. We also bought the optional front vestibule with closes off the front of the canopy.
There are a couple of things that could be improved, the 2 side doors zip down each side but there are no velcro pads across the bottom of the doors and these can flap about a bit in windy weather. The same applies to the front door which doesn't have any flymesh on it which is a real shame. The groundsheet on the front door does however drop down so there is no trip hazard when using this door.
All in all a great tent for the price and Kampas after sales service is great.

We upgraded from an older style 4 berth as we now have children and loads more stuff! It has a good living compartment and the sleeping area was good as can be zipped into one so we can keep our eyes on the little ones.
It is quite a hefty tent to put up, definitely needed the 2 of us and the help of a 5 yr old. Took us about 40mins to put up and peg out. Only real quibble was that we had a few leaks from the zips on each doorway, despite thoroughly waterproofing, the rain was torrential so overall it performed very well.

We brought this tent as our first big tent last year after upgrading from a 4 berth vis a vis tent. We love it and have had many trips in it in all weathers and not had any problems at all. The space inside is excellent and we use one room for sleeping and another for storage meaning we can make full use of the living area which is also very large. We have the carpet also which really makes it cosy on a cooler night. The height of the tent is perfect, especially for my 6ft 2 husband who has no problems entering or standing up in the tent, even in the bedroom areas.
We also brought the vestibule which is great for rainy days when you still want to sit in the porch area but stay dry. We love this tent and would definitely recommend it to anyone else looking for a large family tent-it will suit most people.
