Value for money, a good middle ground between a standard 2man tunnel and a minimalistic tunnel tent

I use mine at least one weekend a month, all seasons.

Low and angled down enough to take strong winds with ease, you loose out on headroom but its no problem getting changed inside.

Enough room for 2 and a medium sized dog inside, even if bringing rucksacks in.

First pitched in snow it worked perfectly, Woke up to torrential rain once that had turned the ground into a pool, the groundsheet stood up to the task and didn't let a drop of water through.

I never sleep with both inner doors closed, only the mesh, with both it can get humid inside especially overnight, leave the vents open on the outer and it will allow nice airflow through, but if you are out of the wind, not enough to provide air circulation for the inner tent.

I waterproof it often and havn't had any leaks, no broken zips or anything. Patched a small tear in the door with an offcut from the tent bag.

I don't bother separating the inner from outer when I pack it away clean, which works great if you need to erect it fast.

It is still a fast build when erecting from scratch.

The only changes I would make are purely personal preference,

Lower at its highest point,

1 window instead of 2,

More venting in the inner section

3 or 5 more toggles connecting the inner to the outer, between the 2 pole arches,

A non-elasticated tie at the highest point, to allow for a hanger at the highest point of the inner.

I've had my 'Backpacker' for over 15 years and, despite the fact that I have other tents at my disposal, it still gets used for backpacking and motorcycling travel. Even with it's 'low spec' it's never leaked and the low profile means it's okay in windy conditions. It's small footprint means you can usually find a pitch even on the most crowded site (Amsterdam!) or difficult terrain (high up on Crinkle Crags). Pitches in a couple of minutes.

Mine is obviously an older model. No windows, no ark type poles. It pitches inner first and the inner is mostly mesh which means it's well ventilated. When touring in warmer parts of Europe I've often left the fly off. Great for taking advantage of any slight breeze and brilliant for stargazing from the comfort of your 'bag.

It drops two stars due to the very small porch area. A tarp is a useful addition but defeats the object of having a fairly light tent. The packed weight of my old model is 2.1kgs so they've beefed up some of the materials. Short pack length means it easily fits into one of my panniers or my rucksack.

No frills, just a solid and robust little tent.

Not a bad tent for the price, too small for two full size people (maybe two teenagers on DoE), but nice size for one person +bag.

Mine is the older design with two zips and a single large door, I can see why the changed the design to the single zip and tie back doors as the rain goes everywhere when opening the door either during or after rain. Anything in the porch gets run off from the door, so the later design an improvement.

The poles seem ok and up to the job, as all tents I am going to sleep in I always fully guy out when pitching and had no issues in wind and rain. Can suffer condensation I found as other reviews have mentioned. As the guys form part of the structure you can't move it once pitched (not freestanding) so you do want to be sure your in the right direction, head uphill etc, before you dully commit to your location.

At nearly 3Kg its not exactly light either in comparison to more expensive designs, the comparatively palatial MSR Elixir 2 I replaced this with weighs nearly 800g less and is much larger shelter (at 6x the price admittedly).

Not a bargain at full price, but if you can pick one up from millets or blacks in their end of season sale a really useful small compact shelter for the money.

I bought a backpacker 2 for cheap replacement for an old 2 man Coleman nevada.

I like to have a small 2man tent for 1 night stops, festivals and wild camping on Dartmoor.

The Backpacker, reduced to £35 at the time of purchase, has really been worth it.

Its low, thin and long so is really discreet (one of the requests for Wild camping on Dartmoor). It is also very light. It's shape lends itself very well to the wind.

It's quick and easy to put up (about 10mins), the inner tent goes in after the fly is up. For good tension on the fly sheet, you've got to get the guy ropes good.

I am 6ft 6 in height and one of the biggest problems I have when camping is the sleeping area is too short. I fit nicely in this one.

I've only used this one on my own. It's got plenty of space for me and my kit. I think it probably would be a bit of a squeeze for two with backpacks.

All in all its a good little set up. Really fun, really comfortable and definitely worth the cash spent.

At last I managed a one nighter in the Eurohike Backpacker 2. Set up of the tent took me around ten minutes. Flysheet first. Two sets of poles, pretty thin fibreglass, that form two gothic arches. I had no problem threading them through the sleeves. The ends of the poles sit in grommits. Then I pegged out using thin but pretty tough steel pegs. Four guylines provide the stability. I have added four rock pegs to the kit for these for my own peace of mind. Attaching the inner is pretty simple, at the foot end attach two hooks at the bottom then toggles, same with the entry end. I choose not to use the little plastic hooks and peg them down instead.

The tent forms a wedge with the foot end both narrower and lower. Point that bit into the wind. (yes I know, then the wind changes direction, but at least we tried eh?)

Ventilation is good with two mesh panels in the fly protected by hoods. Also, a half moon vent can be unzipped in the D shaped door panel.

Stepping back to survey my new object it was with some satisfaction that for once I seem to have purchased so much for so little. A recent sale took this to £21.00. Made in Bangaladesh from polyester, (inner and fly) with a flysheet HH rating of 3000 and well stitched one really can't grumble. The groundsheet is pretty bog standard but unless actually pitching in a puddle it should hold up pretty well. Inside are two little storage pockets and a hook for a lamp above the door. There is plenty of space between inner and fly which is just as well if two people are sharing it. I scratched my head a bit once inside my sleeping bag, ( I usually scratch something) I cannot for the life of me imagine two people of normal size, ( like me, 5 foot 2, slightly rotund,) managing to cram themselves inside. ( what do you mean??? 5 foot 2 IS normal for a human, anyone over that is a mutant)

It is an ideal tent for one with room inside for all your stuff out of the summer rain. This tent is certainly not meant for living in as headroom is at a premium, I ended up with an achy back hunched over my stove in the offset porch as me fancying a brew and a light shower happened to coincide.

I would suggest this as a 'starter' tent suitable for low level summer camping, (great for the younger ones). It can be taken down and re-erected as one. Not bad though for anyone who just needs a place to sleep for the night.

I bought this purely for solo camping, with backpacking in mind also; for £24.99 from the Millets website.

I used it for the first time last weekend, in wet and windy Wasdale.(Lake District). It stood up to all the elements really well. Due to it's low height on the ground, it managed well in the wind. We had 24hrs of non-stop rain and this little tent held up brilliantly! On the coldest of the two night's, I did experience a lot of condensation on the inside of the inner tent, which dripped quite annoyingly on to myself and my kit in the morning! It didn't take long to dry out though and I guessed that it was condensated because we had experienced a lot of damp over the two nights, the latter being the colder of the two.

The only gripe I really have is that the height of the taller end of the tent(entrance end), is just slightly too low. I am 5ft 2inches and can crouch well, but found it uncomfortable to sit upright whilst sitting out a rainstorm.

It would be the perfect budget backpacker if it was a few inches higher at the entrance so you can sit comfortably and brew up!

Next time I will take a tarp and rig up an area with my walking poles to sit in if it rains!

I would definitely recommend this tent to a friend.A short friend! :o)

Bought this for £20 and used it for 2 nights this weekend. Kids in another tent, me in this. Definitely too small for two, but very cosy for one. I slept well, it rained heavily and it stayed dry and no condensation although it was fairly warm.

The poles are very frail looking and the seams look a tad wonky but for this price it is a cracking little tent and very easy to pack away, good for backpacking. It has a little pocket at the front for bits, plus a hanging loop over the doorway although kept clunking my head on that. I managed to put my wicker picnic hamper AND a folding flat chair in the porch! Good little buy to be honest, pleasantly surprised.

It's cheap to buy, reasonably quick to put up, nice and spacious for 1 but a tad cosy for 2, a touch heavy for backpacking but ideal for using as a base for exploring. It has stood up to some heavy rain with no problems and minimal condensation. The porch area is just big enough to store wet boots and backpacks leaving the inner tent nice and dry.

Have always owned different sizes and makes of tents. This new one ~ the Eurohike Backpacker is ok for either backpacking or cycling. Had difficulty keeping the top of the fly sheet from touching the inner living area. There was a lot of condensation inside the tent. Overall the tent is ideal for our use ~ this year, we are hoping to use our holidays to cycle around our lovely country and camp in our Eurohike Backpacker Tent.

This is a very inexpensive tent to buy, and I don't know about its longevity. However, it provides really good accommodation for one person (two would be silly unless it was OK to leave luggage outside) and is spectacularly light for the price - about 2.65kg, so fine to carry on a bike. The porch area is small but does have a groundsheet, unlike some superlight tents where all your gear has to sit on the wet grass and there's nowhere to take off your shoes. There is a hanging eye for a light, a couple of pockets and a little window. It's exceptionally easy to put up although getting the flysheet tight and keeping it clear of the inner compartment requires that (a) you don't peg it too tight at the base of the poles and (b) you get the guys halfway up the poles really, really tight. The colour is a yellower green than most tents and blends in better with grass. The label may not exude street cred, but I think it's a very good tent.
