I have used mine a few times with my wife and 15 year old son. The tent is easy to put up ( about 25 mins ) and seems strong enough to cope with winds although I have never used it in these conditions, as an earlier review staded I also have experienced bad condensation even with all vents open. Overall I would say this tent is good enough
But I need something bigger but I would still recommend this tent as a starter tent

We have this tent in dark green and light green, so not sure if I have the year right. We only paid £169 for it which was a lot more affordable than elsewhere. It has 2 side doors, which have a mesh and a plain zip flap, the mesh one is good for ventilation and to see out. The front door has a mesh window but the cover only opens about 3 or 4 inches for ventilation, so you can't see out of it, however you get 2 poles, which attach to the large front flap to make a canopy. There is no zipped mesh on the front door. There are 2 clear pvc strips either side of the ceiling, so you can see what the weather is doing without having to open any of the doors.
The largest of the 2 bedrooms is big enough for a raised double airbed, however there isn't much room either side of it. There is just 2 of us so we don't put the other bedroom up and just store bags ect. In the available space. There is plenty of room in front of the bedrooms for chairs and tables ect.
The tent is really easy to erect as it only has 3 poles and once they are in, and put the pins in, you pull the front guy rope and up it goes! marvellous if you have bad weather.

We downgraded from a Vango Vail 700 to the Lakesbury 5. I was concerned there wouldn't be enough room, which I was proved wrong. There was SO much room in the bedrooms and living area, which we use a large kitchen unit. So quick to erect (which is helpful as one of our children has learning difficulties and needs to be watched at all times) I liked the toggle system for the larger front door, it allowed fresh air whilst we had a midnight feast. I would prefer more windows but it was still bright when all doors were closed. I would also like to know where other campers on this website purchased extensions/porches for this make of tent please. (Just had a 4 day week end away)

We looked at lots of tents before settling on the Gelert Lakesbury 5.
We are a family of 3, myself (who was new to camping) my husband and our 7 year old son and this tent is a lovely size for the 3 of us.
Having never put up a tent in my life prior to buying this I was surprised how easy it is to erect only having 3 poles, myself and my husband now have this down to a fine art and it only takes us around 10-15 minutes to pitch.
I for one will never be a hardened camper and as such I have to have my creature comforts such as, heater, air beds, tent carpet, fridge etc even so there is plenty of room.
We have had some torrential rain and very windy weather on some of our trips and this tent has held up well every time.
As mentioned we have bought the matching tent carpet and this makes the tent very cosy. We also bought the matching tent porch which makes the tent HUGE and very relaxing and spacious for our recent week long trip.
All in all we are very happy with our choice of tent. We are new to camping as a family, only having started this year but we already have many trips planned and I have taken to it more than I thought possible.

Loved the room this tent has, 3 poles, easy to put up, tent carpet excellent.Sewn in ground sheet, so no draughts BUT twice I have used this, this weekend and it doesn't like rain, had terrible condensation inside, also pools of water in each corner ? this cant be right ???also does not have windows, mesh sides, which you cant open in bad weather as the rain comes in, very disappointed and going to buy another tent. Has anyone else had this problem - in rain, and pools of water

Just returned from our third outing in the Lakesbury 5. Absolutely ideal for 2 of us and a little dog. We don't tend to travel too light, quite like our home comforts, but the Lakesbury 5 swallows all our gear with out feeling crowded. Was a little concerned about the main door not sealing along the bottom edge, however it appears to help provide just the right amount of ventilation, and a s result the tent doesn't suffer from excessive condensation. The main bedroom is huge, and easily accommodate 2 camp beds with plenty of space in between. The second room which we use for storage and as a changing room, is just right too.
Just purchased a front porch extension, although couldn't find one in last years colour, so looking forward to our next trip in a couple of weeks, and all the extra space it affords.

Very easy to pitch, spacious interior with sewn in groundsheet. Totally waterproof even in heavy downpours.
There is plenty of room in the bedrooms and if you only need 1 bedroom this leaves even more space inside. There are lantern hooks inside the bedroom areas and also in the outer section.
Would definitely recommend this tent to couples or small families.

I have just brought this Tent and used it for the first time last weekend. It was very easy to put up, The two bedrooms came in handy one to sleep in and one for storing things plenty of room for us and the dog. The 3 openings are great in hot weather. Great tent good size not to big or to small. The electric hook up entry points are good and out of the way.

We have a caravan and wanted just a weekend tent so we got the Lakesbury 5. Not a bad size tent for us, 2 old adults and 1 young adult (an 18 year old ahhh). The front window is fab as are the two mesh doors on each side, but can't give this tent more than 5 out of 10 and I don't understand why, but this tent does not zip at the bottom along the front opening. The dog, who is an old 12 year old Lassie dog escaped in the night on the first night. I was frantic with worry and managed to find her wandering the site. It's a good job we hadn't taken any of our Lurchers with us. She had to sleep in the bedroom pod with us for the rest of the holiday. Otherwise it is a lovely tent.

Nice roomy tent - good head room for my rather tall son (part of the reason I bought it).
Used for the first time on a 2 week holiday July 2010 - no complaints about it. Perhaps some extra porch poles wouldn't hurt.
Bought to replace an Aztec Sala 4 which did not have a sewn in ground sheet so was very drafty.
The Lakesbury with its sewn in g/s had a much warmer 'feel' to it.
No windows, but then the windows on the Sala after 4 yrs leaked anyway.!
Nice living area, although a family of 4 large adults might find it a bit of squeeze.
Quick and easy to put up.
Good all round good value tent
