Absolutely love this tent , as 2nd time camping ( 1st other brand name tent leaked / ripped was draughty and all round bit rubbish) we were nervous after our 1 st experience of camping . We needn't have been! after several days of heavy rain and wind, tent stayed strong and not a drop of water let in! loads of room for 2 adults and 2 kids , we use 1 of bedrooms for the portapotty for middle of he night trips with a toddler! easy to pitch even for us! only downside really is it's size and the need to check 1st if pitch size is big enough but having said that not 1 thing I can fault with the tent itself! brilliant!

We love this tent - if it's space you're after this tent is ideal. We are a family of 5, and find this tent is perfect for our needs. Have camped in heavy rain and wind and the tent didn't leak in the slightest. Very easily to put up and take down, the bedroom inners are a great size - the 2 smaller ones take 2 single airbeds no problem, the big bedroom is fantastic, double airbed plus loads of room for all your stuff! Storage pockets everywhere - including in the bedroom inners. A great quality tent I would recommend it!

This cracking tent withstood everything mother nature threw at her ,on a wet and (very) windy trip to Somerset. There is ample room for a family of 4 ,and the SIG means you are kept snug and draft free,we found it easy to put up and a very nice tent to look at.I will give it 9/10 if only because it could have had 2 separate rooms at one end instead of the flimsy divider curtain it comes with, but that is a minor niggle, when on the whole we are VERY pleased with this tent>

We went camping for the first time as a family of 4 with two Border Terriers last weekend and wondered if this tent would live up to the reviews that we had read. We were not disappointed. It is fab. There is plenty of space in the living area for all your gear, a table and chairs etc and loads of room in the sleeping pods. The rain did not come in at all and we were dry the next morning - unlike our friends in a different tent. Would thoroughly recommend it!

The kids fancied trying camping so we thought we would give it a go. We wanted a big tent as we didn’t fancy being claustrophobic and that our kids can’t do anything alone, they have to have some friends with them. We live in Liverpool so Outdoor World was the place to visit. Apparently, the Kansas 8 is exclusive to them. They had one set up and it did look big in their showroom. The sales guy said it was easy to but up and easy it was. Despite its huge size it is very simple to put up. All the rods are colour coded and strung together. I laid the tent out, inserted all 5 rods and then started erecting at one end.Simple. 2 sleeping pods are included, each with another divider making 4 bedrooms. The living area is also huge which makes our camping experience all that much easier. We had 10 people in the living area when it rained without any issues.

It comes with a built in ground sheet for comfort and there are 2 doorways, and windows in the bedrooms for letting in some air. We bought the footprint groundsheet for extra protection. Taking down the tent is also easy and it all folds neatly away into the holdall.

All-in-all the quality seems very good and the whole package is at the right price considering some smaller (Outwell/Vango) tents are a lot more money.

We bought this tent last year as first time campers (well first time for 20 years and first with a family). It was so easy to put up, my husband did it almost single handed whilst I entertained our 5 month and 2 yr old children. Unsure as to how it would fair in the weather we had a fabulous week at Shell Island it came through wind and rain very well. The space is unbelievable, some would say its bigger that a small flat! The living area size was so important with us having a toddler and a baby. We swapped a roller bag for a carpet (luxury!) but feel it was sooooo worth it. Planning on a few more trips with it this year :)

Had a great time at Shell Island with this tent. As this was our first family camping holiday I did struggle a little at first putting the tent up, but once shown by a helpful camping neighbour that the pins, in the pin and ring system, actually went inside the poles, it was really easy and quick to erect.

The tent is lovely and roomy inside, with each bedroom easily accommodating a double airbed. There is also a large living area, with more than enough space for a large table and chairs.

Initially, we were going to buy either a Gelert Zenith at £300 or an Outwell Hartford XXL at £350. We finally decided on the Kansas, not just because it was hugely cheaper at £189 from Bootle Outdoor Megastore, but the square living area seemed to offer a lot more space than the other two, which have a hexagon shape.

We also bought the porch which was a great addition. Not only did we do all the cooking in there, it gave more room and also had the added bonus of offering more stability to the tent, as its canopy goes right over the roof of the tent and is pegged at the back.

We did have a couple of very stormy days, but the tent stood up to some terrible wind (on the outside I must add!)and it stayed lovely and warm. We also invested in a carpet which prevented any worries about chair legs going through the groundsheet.

The tent seems to have a great design, with a sewn in groundsheet, and the bedrooms, which can be pushed back to give even more space, have their own sewn in groundsheets too, providing extra warmth and protection from insects. There are also several pockets to keep possessions in.

Overall I would definitely recommend this tent as a quality purchase at a reasonable price. My only piece of advice for first-time campers would be to try it out first, as the instructions are very wordy and could perhaps benefit from some more diagrams.

I have one of these tents, and it has withstood gale force winds and rain.

Its easy to put up, especially for any camping newbies.

Its very spacious with plenty of living room space, though on the downside some campsites charge extra for the pitch due to its size.

I also have the sun awning which is great.

I would recommend this tent to anyone. We got ours at a reasonable price compared to some of the websites we went to and got a free roller bag and free delivery too.

We have just come back from 2 weeks in Anglesey and our new Kansas 8 was brilliant. It was simple to erect and it is very spacious for the larger family. We bought the green colour and it was lovely and bright inside.

Each bedroom fits a double air bed and has a little room to store things at the side of the bed. The large bedroom has a removable dividing curtain. It has one large window at either side of the tent. These have covers which are on the outside of the tent but would be better if they were on the inside.

We bought the sun porch and used this as our kitchen area and we would have been lost without it as its very spacious. The porch does let in rain at the sides, where the porch is attached to the tent but this was not a problem as everything was kept out of the way and it is supposed to be a sun porch not a rain porch!

We had gale force winds whilst away and thought the tent might not survive but it did us proud even with the porch attached! It did move about quite a bit but held very well. We had very heavy rain and it didn't let in a drop of water.

This really is a brilliant tent for the money and I would really recommend the sun porch for all the extra space it gives you.

We bought one of these last year and must say I am extremely pleased. Excellent value for a large family tent. We have 3 children aged 4,2 and 1 so needed something large but easy to pitch. My husband or myself are able to pretty much ptich it single handed while the other entertains the children. Pitching also only takes around 45mins.
SIG obviously a big bonus to keep out winds etc. We love it as a family as it provides us enough space to be able to spread out without being too overwhelming. Do agree with above posts and the poles have tarnished a little but it has still withstood some rain and winds. We also changed our roller bag for a footprint to protect the SIG and outdoor megastore were really helpful.

Manufacturer's Description

The Kansas 8 caused a storm last season (no pun intended) when it became the largest 8-berth vis-à-vis tunnel tent with a sewn-in groundsheet on the market! Following on from that remarkable debut, the Kansas 8 is being repeated again this season, at the same price as 2007 and in optional colourways. The sewn-in groundsheet creates a superb sealed internal environment, free from drafts, water seepage and creepy-crawlies. At one end of the tent is a 4-berth inner with divider curtain and at the other 2 x 2-berth inners all of which are removable so that the internal living area can be adapted to suit the number of people in the party (the more the merrier for insatiable Stannio). Even with both inners in place the tent still offers a generous 3.5m x 2.8m central living area.

In addition there are two side exits which prop open to form a canopy with two steel upright poles provided for the purpose. The flysheet is made from double-coated Weatherweave 2oz polyester with fully taped seams giving a hydrostatic head of 5000mm. The inner tents are breathable polyester and the sewn-in groundsheet is polyethylene. The tent features two large PVC windows with mesh tops for additional ventilation and two zip down privacy covers. There are also two additional vents off the bedroom compartments. The frame is a fibreglass (colour coded) pole construction with ring & pin system.
