We owned this for 5 years and found it to be excellent great tent in a storm ( survived 40-50 mph winds in Reighton on the east yorkshire coast one year ) never leaked once. We bought the porch for a Hi Gear Zenobia fitted fine just a different colour blue, wish we had bought it when we first got the tent as it makes the world of difference.
This tent has loads of space easy to pitch with 2 people and is very good in bad weather.Flexible pods allow different choices and layouts. SIG is a massive bonus and has various points for electric hook up to come in and velcro loops for light wiring to be secured back.
Down sides are, without a porch water runs in when opening the door (minor fault but a fault none the less), poles are fiber-glass and do split in high winds, never caused a problem and only noticed when packing away. Is a heavy lump when packed up. All in all a great tent for the money.

We bought just the flysheet from Tent Spares as we had an idea that everything from our Gelert Alaska would fit. We were delighted that the poles appeared to be the same length and all the pods hooked straight up so have been using this set-up for 2 years now. The tent has never leaked and the SIG means it is pretty draught-free too. There is a handy hook in the middle and a series of Velcro fasteners to hang a light up and the headroom means it isn't in the way. Loads of space in the living area and up to 4 bedrooms although we keep one end as a big room for us. Getting due for new poles now as the Gelert ones are quite old now and will be buying genuine ones so the colour coding is correct!

Well used now for several years and always seem to pick campsites that have beautiful views of the ocean, trouble is that means windy conditions.
We have survived many storms in Cornwall and Wales with this tent, even having poles split on us under the strain of gale force gusts! But it is a survivor. Never leaked.
Packs into one bag.
The space is amazing though I guess if you had 8 people in it you would struggle. We keep two tables permanently up in the main area.
The only downside is the height of the roof, at least 7ft. 6inches high so it catches the wind easily.
I have just changed it to a Vango Maritsa 500 tent which has metal poles in the hope that it can take the wind a bit better.

We bought this tent as just a skin as the poles and pods from our Gelert Horizon 8 fitted with no problems and we now have a fully sewn in groundsheet. Some handy rings and Velcro fitted to the roof which are great for hanging and routing lights. Nice big windows and separate cable entries are some of the plus features. The only minor gripe is the lack of rings to hang a storage pocket as we have in the Horizon. Overall a great tent, never leaked once this 'summer'.

A great family tent. We use 2 of the sleeping pods and use the other space for our kitchen equipment. Enough room in the middle area for us all to sit/eat etc. It's straightforward for 2 adults to put up and pack away.
Last year we bought the sun porch as otherwise when it is raining you can't open the door without all the rain tumbling in off the roof. The tent is very weatherproof otherwise with the built-in groundsheet. The sun porch is a bit of a pain to pitch but adds great extra space as well as weather protection.
The tent has survived some very strong winds and lived to tell the tale! Some of the poles are splitting now, which is a shame, but they can be repaired. The extra groundsheet is well worth the money.

I have the Ontario 8xc and have found it to be fantastic. I also bought the enclosed porch to go with it. The tent is very spacious with excellent head room. It has stood up well to some extremely bad weather, including high winds and driving rain lasting all night. Adding the porch has made a massive difference, being used for all our cooking and food storage needs and serving as an entrance to the tent, I have added a ground sheet to the porch and it now gives us a place to remove and leave shoes. With some careful thought I have even pitched the tent on my own. This is not meant as a brag but as an indication of how easy it is to pitch for two people. I would have given a 10 but for the fact that a small amount of water is getting in through the top of one of the windows. This can be easily rectified with some seam sealer, just not got round to it yet. Someone else mentioned about not being able to put the bedrooms up properly if the tent is stretched out too far. I make sure now I don't stretch it out too far, I wait until the bedrooms are in. All in all a brilliant tent. I am looking forward to two weeks living in it again next summer.

We have been for 2 week long breaks in this tent over the last 2 years. The first time we put up the tent, we were very disappointed that 2 of the poles split. Although the tent did survive the rest of the week very well with the poles held together with sticking plaster!Including strong winds and heavy rain.
Before camping this year, I replaced the poles and purchased Delta pegs and used line lok cleats on the guy ropes. This year the tent was not going to move anywhere, and looked to be the most stable tent on the site.
The tent is ample for the 5 of us with one large double pod and two single pods. I like the fact that you can leave a single pod down and use for extra storage.
The tent survived strong winds and heavy rain, very satisfied with it so far.
I am very pleased with the tent, especially with the price of £175 that we paid.
We have purchased a Hi gear Zenobia tent porch, which although is a slightly different coloured blue fits fine.

We had to upgrade (Our previous tent being a Quechua T4.2 XL), and the fantastically spacious Ontario 8 XC was perfect. As soon as we saw it in our local shop, we had to have it.
With 2 single pods, and one double, its perfect for any size family or group.
2 years on, it has let us down only once, it lost its water proofing last week in the Brecon Valleys, which put an end to our 2 week holiday after 4 days.
We have the rubble sheet, and the carpet, making it homely, as well as spacious.
We have got the Gelert Horizon 5 Canopy for our front entrance, and the SunnCamp Verano DL Extension for our kitchen (over the secondary entrance). Both fit perfectly together 1 each side of the tent, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
If it hadn't had lost is water proofing (being 5000 it should be monsoon proof) it would have got a 10/10

Purchased our ontario third hand from a work colleague earlier this year and have used several times in a variety of weathers. Loads of room inside (as others have said)and we found very easy to pitch right from the first attempt. So far we have only used as a 4-berth fro sleeping purposes (my wife and I and our 15yr old daughter and friend, but when other family members camped with us, plenty of room in the living area for 8ish adults plus 3 toddlers to sit / eat in comfort.
We have also used the living area as a cooking area prior to the purchase of a Gelert Horizon side porch to use for this. (Unable to locate a Kyham one so far)
Would have given the Ontario 10+ out of 10 but for the (un)availability of accessories / spare parts.
That said we have just upgraded to a new 2010 model Ontario in preparation for next seasons trips. (I would happily camp now in the Ontario as, with a little help from an electric blow heater, tent stays nice and warm inside, despite the weather outside)

Overall this is a very good tent. I bought this last year based on the reviews and have used it four times. I am still finding it a bit of a challenge to put it up in a reasonably quick time. It has plenty of space and the bedrooms are large. I would describe the build quality as average. Some of the sewn seams appear weak and the toggles on the bedroom pods are on the brittle side - 3 broke on first use. As has already been mentioned the pegs are extremely soft and ineffective. On our final outing we had 5 days of high winds and heavy rain. The tent stood firm, remained completely watertight and the space inside was a godsend!
This is a budget tent and you get what you pay for. All in all you get a lot for your money and I would happily recommend this tent to others.
