Great tent from what I have found so far, purchased from ebay for 50.00. We erected it in the garden with ease with well made fabric and poles, clever zip out front system is a plus,we are used to sig tents so it will be our weekender or loaner tent for family or friends, worth the money we paid and would recommend, if you are happy not to have a sewn in ground sheet you will love it.Poles are heavy but so well made and looks like came with a 5 year warranty, barcode price on the tent bag is 299.99 so 50.00 was a steal!

We decided to buy this tent,as we had owned a vario 5 in the past,we got it as a back up for our wolf lake 7,so we could use it just for weekends, when the wolf would be just too much.It is a great tent for the price, plenty of room,2 double bedroom pods, side openings.Only drawback to this tent is the groundsheet is not built in.But for what it is,you cant go wrong, buy one

What a great tent this is! I've owned mine since 2004, and although there are a couple of short-comings, overall, I can't complain.
My son and I have endured some stormy weather when using ours - none less than (I didn't find out until afterwards) the tail end of Hurricane Katia last weekend!
Although the tent stood up very well to the wind and rain of Sunday night at Santa Pod, and we remained cosy in our beds, when the wind REALLY increased. A couple of guy-rope tags broke free on the one side (which I don't think would have happened if we'd have had the BACK of the tent facing the wind, instead of the side). This allowed the side of the tent to blow in concave, which again, would not have occurred had I have had the special 'bow' clamps and supports I've designed (awaiting Patents) in use.
Whilst we were breaking camp, the very high winds caused a stitched seam to let go (at the front hoop-bow at the bottom), which only happened because the wind was stronger than my son's attempts to hold it - he's aged 20 and no wimp, it's was just that the wind was SO powerful!
I think that we were very lucky to get away with such little damage, and that much of our 'luck' was down to the design and manufacture of the tent itself!
Although I think it unlikely that we will have to encounter such weather in the future, I intend to accelerate my production of my 'clamping system', just in case.
I also want to add a zip-in 'extension' to the front of my tent - if such a thing exists, if not, I will have to get someone to make it for me.
I envisage that we and our Vario 6 will remain together for some time to come.

A superb tent once up but quite difficult if you are only 5 ft! its the perfect size for us, 2 adults 2 children and the spaniel, and to our relief, it stays up in hurricane winds and driving rain. The only real complaint we have is having to batten down the edges with anything we can because it can be very draughty. The sleeping pods our excellent but we certainly would not use it as a weekend tent due to the effort put in to the erection, especially in the wind.

We have certainly 'survived' a few storms in our Vario 6 including one night that saw many other tents on the site destroyed and end up in the waste bins.
We love the space in the tent and the only downside is that we have an early model that does not have a SIG. If it is windy we end up lining up shoes, bags and anything else along the edges to keep the draught out.
It is fairly easy to pitch and I can do it on my own if necessary. I must admit that I have never managed to get the pole bag back into the main holdall. However the weight means that it is easier to transport these separately.
I have considered 'upgrading' to the newer model, Invader 600 to get the SIG, but this does not seem to be as well made and does not have the roof lights or extra windows.

Fantastic tent. Bought used from Ebay. Absolutely brilliant. Like home from home, large living area.Comes in handy with dodgy UK weather. Loads of head room, sleeping areas are a nice size. Would recommend this tent every time.

We have used this tent for three years now and I have to say its the best family tent that we have ever had. The porch is massive (a must in the UK's changeable climate) allowing the kids plenty of space to keep themselves occupied. The quality of the build is also very good, we have sat out many storms in it, with only the slightest leak (from the roof lights - as previously mentioned in other reviews). Hopefully we will get many more years service out of it. This leaves me with only one question. Can anyone tell me how you can get it all back in the bag ????

We have used this tent only a few times over the last few years. We find it very roomy and we there is only two of us with two dogs.
We have found that the side door zip leaks sometimes in heavy rain, otherwise its been great. Sewn in ground sheet makes it a warm place in the cold nights but its very warm when the sun is out.
We have just bought a porch for it and this has been excellent making the tent even bigger.
Very easy to put up and doesn't take long.

We have used this tent for several years. It has coped beautifully with high blustery winds, heavy rain and baking sunshine. The reason that we brought this tent was for all the windows and the roof lights. Even in inclement weather we still like to see the view.
The fact that the sleeping inners have both opaque zipper doors for privacy and fly sheet zipper doors for ventilation is a also great plus.

This is a bit of a late in the day review as I bought this tent second hand off Ebay in 2007. It was our first tent to help us decide if camping was for us. The great thing about this tent is its size. Everyone has commented how much space there is inside especially the amount of headroom. We use it for 2 adults with 2 children and there is sufficient room for all us plus cooker, tables and chairs. There is space between the sleeping pods for storing bags etc. It is possible to move the front panel back so there is a reduced inside area and covered area outside. We've only used it with maximum inside space.
There are appearing on Ebay once in while as people sell them as they either move on to a newer tent or find them getting too old, either they offer good value for money (mine cost about £60).
The is no SIG so it can get a bit draughty - a large groundsheet can help with this. It takes about 45 minutes to put up by two people with a bit of practice.
I would recommend this tent to anyone needing a tent with space for 4 people and plenty of headroom.
