I have issues.
First off, I'm a complete anorak when I buy absolutely anything - I hit all the review sites, I spend weeks upon weeks researching, speaking to owners, looking at the pattern and likelihood of returns. In short pretty OCD when it comes to spending my money. This is also a problem because I like to shop.
Another issue and the greatest pleasure and blessings in our life is the fact we have kids, lots of them, in fact six. The logical consequence is that anything we buy has to be sturdy, relatively bulletproof and re-usable. So when it came to buying a tent, this was going to be interesting.
Why not a tunnel tent? Super quick to put up and loads of living space. The main reason was that privacy is something that's not top of the priority list when you camp, so you value absolutely any you get. Having 4 - 6 people all sleeping in one end of the tent, in one area effectively separated by a wafer thin wall seems unnecessarily cosy.
The only option to let the kids chit-chat all night long and give the parents some cuddle-space was to have the sleeping pods as far away as physically possible. So hence we started looking at these style of tents.
Here were the main areas - waterproofing, headroom, sewn in groundsheet, built-in porch, cost, living space, separate sleeping pods, future proofing (ability to add extended porches), reviews from purchasers, bad weather condition performance.
.And the Vango Killington 900 was the very deserved winner. It's an incredible tent, reasonably straightforward to pitch, with a carpet and sewn in groundsheet and footprint. Loads of room to walk, stand up (even the sleeping pods) and lots of windows and doors, flaps and vents to open.
We've used it in the rain, howling winds and blasting sunshine and its been a dream every time. Incidentally, not that it should make any difference because you're researching the tent, not the reviewer, but I'm an ex Scout Troop leader and this is one of 3 tents we have but without a doubt, it's now our mainstay when we go away.
They may be discontinued but you should do what we did - look for a good second hand one for sale - with the complete kit - and if you find it be quick as there will always be people looking out for something like this. Maybe not as compulsive in doing research, but people will always be on the look out for quality.
The only reason it doesn't get 10/10 is that it Vango didnt build-in a cooked breakfast and strong coffee machine. But there again, there's always the wife.

We have just finished our first season camping, and I could not be happier with our tent.
I did quite a bit of research before I bought it and really wanted a Killington, and I'm very glad I did.
The quality of the tent is great and we have not had a single problem. It has stood up to all sorts of weather this year without any problem.
The space in the tent has been a real bonus. We have young children and when the weather has been bad, they have had loads room to play in which makes life much easier.
This is a very big tent and takes a while to put up, but after the three main polls are up I can do the rest by myself. It takes about an hour and a couple of arguments with the wife.
In all this a great tent, and we are all very happy with. I think its a shame that Vango no longer make it.

Have just come back from spending a week in our Killington 900 and loved it. Super huge living area, accommodating the 7 of us (3 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 little ones). Pod bedrooms (tall enough to stand in) means everyone has a bit of privacy and the huge living area meant we didn't feel at all cramped. We had a dining table, 7 chairs, 2 tables for cooking, plus food, clothes, shoes etc etc, just what a larger family needs. Had a couple of overnight rain tests and we were lovely and snug. Having pitched it a couple of times with 2 people, it really was a breeze to pitch with 3, colour-coded poles helps a lot. Feels really sturdy. I would definitely recommend this tent to any family.

My husband researched our tent purchase very thoroughly and my goodness he made the right choice! We adore our Vango Killington 900. We are a family of 6 plus dog with kids aged 2.5, twins of 4 and an 11 year old and made this purchase based on the space for our growing family but it has offered so much more than that. It offers maximum accommodation, with 3 huge bedrooms and a living area that fits in dining table + chairs, arm chair, storage unit, coat racks, shoe racks, body boards, spare wellies, wet suits. Think you probably catch the drift!
It takes us about 50 mins to put up and it is a 2 person job but the colour coding makes it easier than people would think- putting it down was no problem either. We combine this tent with a kitchen tent and must acknowledge that it is not one for those who travel light but it is just perfect for us. We used this tent in gale force winds and pouring rain without any leaks or damage to be seen! We saw many people with outwells and colemans giving up and going home but our Vango stood the test.
Not every site takes the Vango but we reckon that those that don't, don't want a big family and so we don't want to go there anyway! All our Vango products have been of top quality and this tent feels solid in a way that many others do not. Next summer we will be touring for the summer with the Vango and we can't wait

We have three children (aged 7, 4 & 2) and we LOVE this tent. We have just returned from our 3rd camping trip in it and despite 4 days of constant heavy rain and winds it has coped surprisingly well.
When we were sat inside the only indication of the horrendous weather outside (apart from the obvious rain on a tent noise!) was literally a couple of small drips from the skylight window, which were forgiveable considering the amount of rainfall during those 4 days!
The 3 bedrooms each take a double and a single airbed comfortably and the living area is HUGE, we had a table and 5 chairs and all our kitchen/cooking equipment along with the usual shoes & coats by the entrance and there was still plenty of room for our children to play.
The only downside we found to this tent is that the V Pegs and Pegs that were supplied were rubbish and twisted and buckled as soon as they hit anything. Now that we have replaced them this tent is near perfect!

It is huge!
Love having all the space. 5 of us slept very comfortably over Easter. 7 of us sat in it to eat breakfast & dinner with loads of room. Would sleep 6 adults more than comfortably. 3 pod style bedrooms and ample space for table and chairs in the main inner (we also had a camp kitchen set up as well) and yet still felt roomy.
Amazingly it did not rain so we still have to test the waterproofness of it. We did have frost though and we were all very cozy despite it being such a large tent.
First time pitching was very slow (well over an hour (in fact almost 2)) compared to the 45 minutes implied on the DVD. However, have practised again since and 2 of us pitched it in 55 minutes (In an ideal world you would have 3 adults pitching this tent).
Looking forward to putting it through its paces over 2 weeks and 3 campsites in the summer.
We bought the footprint for this tent and I would recommend buying the footprint for ease of pitching - especially if only 2 of you to do it.
Downsides:
Size - we are finding some campsites wont accept us due to the size of the pitching area (shame because that is why we bought it in the first place)
The bag - the first bag supplied ripped along the seams and the zip burst (before we had even taken it out of the bag). Vango did supply a new bag. The new bag supplied is bigger but still has a dodgy zip. Good that it is on wheels as is rather heavy.
All in all a fantastic family tent and would recommend to any large/growing family but make sure you have a large car boot to transport it!

We love this tent! We have three children and the space is fantastic and I hope it will remain keeping us camping for many years to come!
However it has not been plain sailing. We had a Killington in 2007, and had to send it back as we had a (Small) leak at one of the anchor points. Vango were marvellous - they sent us a 2008 model because a number of the 2007 had been recalled because of the leak issue. Unfortunately, in a heavy night of rain, even the 2008 model leaked slightly, again on one of the anchor points. On contacting Vango, they were fabulous AGAIN and we have a new tent awaiting our 2009 camping sprees, which begin May bank holiday. So fingers crossed all will be well - third time lucky and all that.
We didn't consider swapping to a different tent despite the leaks because of the following:
- You pitch the outer first, so great if its raining. I can't believe so many tents are not designed like this!
- the space. Its incredible, and fab if weather is bad as no one feels cramped.
- On hot days in France, the tent did not get stifling hot. It was warm but absolutely fine.
- We have found it straight forward to pitch (done it a few times now. The colour coded poles and loops make it a doddle.
- Easy enough to pack away, although takes a fair bit longer than our friends tents and so nice to have a few extra hands, esp if windy!
- Vango have been brilliant regarding aftercare when we needed it.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

What a fantastic tent. Went to the Isle of wight for the last week of August when it mostly poured with rain and gales at night. The tent took it all in its stride. It is lovely and large especially usefully with growing kids. Bought the footprint, ideal to stop any rips/tears in bottom of tent, also had a bit of luxury with the carpet, which was lovely at night when having to take children to the loo!
Only downside is that it took a while to pitch the tent -not the 45 mins according to the dvd but believe with practice this will shorten. Also the more people to peg out the better as this was quite time consuming. Packing away was a doddle all fitted perfectly in the bag. Looking forward to using it next year!

I would have given this tent 10 out of 10 if it hadn't been for a leak from one of the anchor points. You may have expected me to give it less than I have, but even with the leak it is a great tent and the customer service from Vango has been superb (they are sending us a brand new replacement).
Overall this a fantastic tent with loads of room for us (a family of 4). It is relatively straightforward (though time consuming) to erect; however, the time should shorten as we get used to it. It really does need more than one person to put it up and when it comes to pegging out, the more the merrier. The sewn-in-groundsheet is a boon when it comes to keeping the draughts and the ground water out (particularly useful this summer). Other things I like about this tent are the vent in the porch, the wheeled bag and the window in the roof. In fact, about the only negative thing I can say about this tent is that it can be difficult to squeeze it into its bag at the end of a camping trip.

The Killlington 900 is a simply fabulous very big tent which stood up to all the weather had to throw at us during our two weeks in West Wales. We had absolute downpours and gales and the tent itself stood up brilliantly. The only water to get in - and that was only a few spots - was through one of the ventilators which I neglected to close at night. The wind and rain was so severe it was blowing the water back up the tent and into the ventilator.
I can't say what the tent would be like in hot weather as we didn't get any, but I suspect that, because of its size, it would be bearable.
I can't even comment yet on putting it back into the bag as it's still drying out in the garage bit by bit.
We also have the large canopy and found we had far more problems with that. On a number of occasions the elastic came off the roof of the tent to leave a massive flapping 'sail'
