We decided to take the plunge and start camping with our young family (ages 4 and 5). After much research we found a second-hand Kura inc. Footprint and carpet for a bargain price on E-Bay and have to say we have been wholly impressed.
I last camped with the Girl Guides (more than 2 decades ago) and hated it so much I ran away!. However, this tent is so easy to pitch, even for novices like us with the kids in tow. We watched the video a couple of times before we left and we pitched within the hour.
Whilst there were only four of us the bedrooms could reasonable accommodate three people each and the living space is huge. However, we have noted that some sites cannot take the tent with its required pitch size being 5.8 x 8.5m.
The head height is more than ample in the living area, and although not full head-height in the bedrooms there is sufficient to comfortably stand and get changed.
The sewn-in groundsheet was a must for us to keep out the bugs.
Overall a great tent for the family, and will definitely consider a Vango for future purchases

I decided it was time to get back into camping again, and re-searched the tent we needed pretty well, although it's now 2010 and the Kura was made in 2008 it is still onsale today. I looked at various types and found this tent for £165 brand new so took the plunge.
Our first weekend away was to North Devon and my partner is 7 months pregnant and she had never been camping before.Well except in school days in a ridge tent in the late 80's so she was moaning all the way to the site, however once the tent was up and heating on she loved it and the site was great too, toilets right next door etc. The Kura is huge inside and can fit a party in the main room but I would say like others that the bedrooms are more suited for 2 people in each and 1 big blow up mattress fills the bedroom.
Putting up the tent was a challenge at first, this was due to the poles which I thought were going to snap as they creaked their way into the sleeves, but they are strong and felt fine once in, the hardest part was the key and base system where you locate a key into the base of each pole end then peg to the floor, the Kura has 6 outer poles and 1 inner, the 2 bedroom poles are blue and grey and the 2 main poles are anodised steel, now where I got stuck was 2 of the keys are located together and 1 is on its own, now I thought the 2 bedroom poles located on the base with 2 keys but I was wrong, the main pole and the blue pole locate together and the grey pole locates on it's own, if you remember this the tent is up in mins :)
No leaks at all in the Kura, only thing it could do with is a kitchen type extension like the diablo 600xp but for 2-4 people this tent is amazing and large, simple to put up and take down and a great first tent :)

A great tent for two but I can't see how you would get six people in there as advertised. We love this tent although it could do with fly screens over the openings and a flap for electric hookup. We recently camped in awful weather with very high winds and torrential rain and the tent performed really well with no leaks and although it got really battered by the wind none of the poles snapped and no tears. I'm disabled so my wife has to put the tent up with minimal help from me and she says its relatively easy but takes longer than the advertised 25 minutes. Putting the tent away is easier still and we managed to get not only the tent and poles into the bag but a footprint and carpet as well. All in all a great tent for two or a family of two adults and two children but very tight for 6.

A really good tent. I've used it twice with no problems despite strong winds and heavy rain. Plenty of room for 4 but I don't think I would like to attempt to sleep three persons per bedroom as advertised!
I had a lot of trouble establishing whether the Vango large sun canopy would fit. Vango say it isn't compatible but I took the plunge anyway. It does fit but I agree with Kate w. The elasticated fitting to the tent does require careful pegging and won't stand windy locations. To be fair it does say that in the instructions. Run the guys straight down the large poles and apply plenty of tension.
Loads of space in living area and no problems with broken poles or leaks. I haven't got a carpet yet but will probably opt for a generic make, of sufficient size, after reading the experiences of others with the Vango 'handkerchief' sized effort!
All in all - a good purchase

Just an update on my review of this tent last year. The main problem I have with it is with the fibreglass poles. I must have replaced about half of them, noticed when I pitched yesterday in the garden to dry off that another one has split, don't know if it's to do with the length of the poles, the angle they bend at or the quality of the poles but something's not quite right. Yet another spring joint has gone in the steel poles but that's not really important. It is a good sturdy tent and has no leaks. I have recently bought a large Vango canopy to attach over the doorway and it does fit but is rather high up when trying to attach the elasticated bit over the doorway and needs to be pegged almost under the bedroom pods to ensure it stays put. Makes the doorway a lot more usable in the rain.

As first time campers we did a lot of research and finally settled on the Kura 600. There are only three of us: two adults, one child - but we feel it's just the right size, with the two bedrooms and large living space.
The tent is extremely easy to erect and put down again. The poles are colour coded and despite a previous reviewer's mention of them not being very substantial, we have had no problems and I think if you're careful they are fairly robust. We purchased a ground sheet to protect the sewn-in grown sheet which is useful. The carpet is very small, and probably not worth the extra money - it's just a blanket really which isn't even the exact size of the living area.
The ventilation is good - we have cooked inside a few times when the weather has been bad.
BEST TIP - is to download a video showing you how to erect the tent onto your phone or ipod. It's very easy to put up, but this is just so helpful, watching someone else do it bit by bit as you do the same.
Overall, we are very pleased with the tent and would recommend it to others.

We brought this tent last year but have only recently used it for the first time and found it very easy to erect the only down side is the amount of guy lines which comparing to other bigger tents on the site seemed excessive but having said that I haven't used it in bad weather.
The two large diameter metal poles which support the main living area are a real bonus as they help keep the middle section steady while erecting it, making the whole process so much easier. The poles slide easily through their respective channels, and the peg system to attach them to the tent is simple.
The tent doesn’t need to much adjustment with the straps once up, but I am not really keen on the strengthening bar which goes between the metal poles inside the tent, because this is retained by two pockets which are sewn into the roof fabric it meant for a short person like me getting a step ladder and trying to put one end in while trying to extend the bar into the other pocket and doing the screw up, making this bar spring loaded would be a good addition as then you wouldn’t need three hands .
The living area is huge and the two porch areas with four windows give lots of light. I wouldn't call this a 6 man tent as our double inflatable mattress wouldn't fit into the sleeping pod so we had to use the sleeping area without it. IMHO this would be a comfortable two adult two children tent.
Plenty of ventilation is provided by two end vents two above the doors and one above each of the four windows all of which can be closed with velcro. The doors have velcro and zip fastening, which brings me to another observation, there is no facility to have the door half open so I found that if I attached one of the velcros from the door to a vent velcro I could do this, a handy tip.
There are only a couple of other observations I would make, the tent pegs are very robust and didn't bend to much even though the ground was pretty hard. The many guy ropes slid easily and gripped very well (I didn't need to tighten them once over the long weekend).
If you do buy the carpet for this tent it is tiny in comparison to the living area floor in fact you could get two in the space.
The footprint for this tent is a must as it makes lining up the tent in the position you want so much easier than trying to drag the whole tent around, we also found that in comparison to our friends tent who did not use the footprint it was more grass friendly.
In conclusion we are very happy with the Kura 600 with only a few exceptions, and would gladly recommend it.

I bought our Kura last august for a trip to north wales, our 1st family camping trip. As we all know the weather last august was awful driving rain and high winds, but the tent stood up to all that was thrown at it. Being novices it took us a bit longer to put it up but it was very simple to understand.
Inside is huge and I agree with previous reviews there is plenty of room in the bedrooms. The main area had to cope with everything being inside due to the weather but we still had enough room. I am 6ft 3 so the high roofline is great for me as I can stand up no problem in the family area.
We also had the problem of rain coming through the doorway when we opened them, I have bought a sun canopy to extend the porch area so it should stop this haven't tested it out yet.
The only problems we have had are a small leak at a corner pegging point, but that was soon remedied with fabseal, and because the tent is so large some sites cannot accommodate us. Which makes the search a little bit longer. Overall this is a great Family tent and we only paid £165 for it new.

This is the first big tent we have owned. Very easy to put up - first time we had her up in around half an hour. The bedrooms are very roomy and an excellent size living area for the wet days. The only niggle I can think of is the slopping sides allow the rain to come in when opening the zips(this may be due to having pitched on a slight slope?).
All in all very pleased with the tent.

I bought this to use for myself 3 or 4 children and a dog. This tent would sleep 6 as stated easily, 3 in each bedroom. It would also be possible to sleep a lot more in the huge living area if needed.
It is relatively simple to put up, 4 colour coded fibreglass poles, 2 curved steel poles and easy to follow instructions. Comes with plenty of pegs and lots of pegging points on the tent. Good Points are the huge living area, plenty of room for a table, 4 chairs a dog and all the other stuff with good height. Sewn in groundsheet that drops down at the doorways helps stop you trip over it and also easier for cleaning. Plenty of storage pockets.
The downsides to this tent are that the curved steel poles can get jammed together if they twist whilst putting the tent up or down and they take some getting apart again. The spring joints in these poles are not very substantial and I have already broken several (been away in it twice so far), this does not affect the tent during use but is just annoying. Doorways being sloping let in the rain and the extra space they take up on the pitch takes the tent to maximum size on many pitches. A good tent just a few niggles.
