Bought this tent in 2009 to use for 'wild' camping(i.E. On a beach, not toilets etc) on Mull in Scotland every summer. After the first year of use, the very thin groundsheet would get a bit wet, but a friend helped me make a PVC one to fit on top, inside the tent, which helps a lot. There is no groundsheet for the roomy porch, but that is ok. I sleep 1 up in it, but have had two in it (very cosy!) which has been fine. The summer of 2013 caused one of the poles to break, but replacements are readily available, so I purchased one. The tent is still waterproof, although moisture causes the fly to sag a bit, but otherwise it has been an excellent tent. Considering upgrading to a Force 10 Mk3, as I want something with a real groundsheet.

Best wet weather tent I've used, huge porch to store gear and cook in, I've had this tent for 9yrs now and is still in great condition, all original parts. Its been pitched hundreds of times and I never bothered looking for sheltered spots. Its the red one in the photos above and has been in all weathers on Dartmoor, bodmin moor and on the cliffs of the sw coastal path. It flaps a bit in the wind but other than that no problems. Never used a ground sheet in the porch as I like to cook in there and it just adds weight. Perfect multi day backpacking tent but if you just camp 5ft from your car boot maybe look into one wiv more headroom etc as this is a 4 season tent and a bit of an overkill for campsites

I owned my Spirit+ for around 3 years and used it for motorcycle camping rallies. Nice light tent which fits in a bike pannier or topbox, light and quite quick to put up. I changed the tent as I wanted to find something with a bit more height, trying to dress in it was a challenge with bike gear!
There were tow problems I found, the flysheet is nylon and would sag a lot when the temperature drops and moisture increased, so much that in camping early in the year the outer would touch the inner and woke up with a wet sleeping bag on some occasions. The other was undoubtedly my fault, the tent folded and the central pole snapped when camping in North Wales when the wind caught the tent on the side, others survived.

Bought this tent to do the end to end cycle in 2012. Being retired we took 3 weeks for the trip so the tent got a good workout.
There was two of us so this provided plenty of room with an extra large porch for the 8 panniers. We intended to camp all the way so it was important that there was a combination of comfort, lightweight and sturdiness as well as being not over expensive (I`m retired).
The spirit 200+ managed a good compromise on weight, price(£240) and comfort.
The 2012 summer, as we all know, was dreadful weather. So the large porch was a real life saver for the times we had to `hibernate`. The tent stood up to the worst rain without a single leak for the whole 3 weeks we were on the road.
It is very easy to pitch `as one` and just as quick to get down. The weight was just ok , I was willing to put up with this for the comfort of the porch.
Getting in and out, like many tents, was not so easy. In wet weather it was difficult to stop rain getting into the porch.
The reason I haven`t given the tent a better rating is because of the poles. I was careful to make sure I put them together correctly but even so,one cracked next to a joint. I was able to use the repair section that comes with the tent which saw us through the trip, but this should not have happened. Looking at other camping forums, this is not an isolated problem.
Overall an excellent tent but be aware of the poles maybe being a problem and avoid getting in and out of the tent when its raining.

I have used this tent for solo backpacking. It is quick to pitch as one. The colour coded poles are slightly difficult to push through the sleeves. The pegs supplied are 'v' types for the guys and skewers for the rest. Both are very light alloy and the skewers to tend to bend. I purchased the footprint groundsheet and this attaches in 8 places by plastic clips. I leave this in place and pitch all as one.
The tent inner is surprisingly warm. I have found that the main flysheet does suffer from slight condensation, which is to be expected.
Plenty of room for one and all of my gear.
For me the extra weight over a one man is well compensated by not feeling claustrophobic and the bonus of having a porch area for the rain.

This ten has been used for me and my wife on walking long distance paths. It is light enough for its size, as mentioned before the porch is the main selling point for me, as in Scotland when raining all kit can be stored, and not being involved with Health and safety, we risk brewing up in the porch which is a real benefit when the the weathers bad. I must mention the internal lines that give the tent rigidity, must put these on when wind comes along. I keep the tent attached to fly and with two of us easy to pitch. Pockets inside keeping small things tidy. I find I can not sit up inside comfortably. Tent is surprisingly warm, but this is with two people, and the out door has two way zip to allow steam to escape when brewing up

I used to have one of these, and I really liked it. The extra storage space is great and even I found it easy to put up on my own.
For its size, the tent I pretty light, but since I usually camp on my own, it was a bit much for me to carry.
Not sure how good it is in strong wind, never really got to test it that much in the wind

I bought this to replace my cherished Saunders StarTrek (Quasar type geodesic) that had finally succumbed to UV rot. (Well it did last fifteen years including use in the Himalayas and fierce south of France sun).
So. The Spirit 200+. It packs small (480mm x 180mm diam) and weighs not a lot. Materials appear strong and construction and detailing is up to standard. Pitching is simple but does show the only real 'fault' with the tent; the colour coded 'Gothic arch' poles have an angle bend in them which makes threading them through the poles sleeves a bit of a pain. Other than this tent pitches easily and quickly. Supplied hard alloy pegs are excellent (it has both pin and Y section types). It's a cosy tent for two; the sleeping part is fine for me (6 footer) + GF, and sitting up is possible. As the other half of the tent is available for storage it does not feel cramped. Multiple internal pockets are a plus for us spectacle wearers. Ventilation is good with hooded vents and midge-proof screens. I opted for the optional 'Footprint' groundsheet (this goes down first).
With a Vango double SIM giving a wall to wall floor covering the tent was warm and well ventilated.
Overall it's hard to find a fault other than the fiddly pole sleeves.

I bought this tent to replace a cheap and cheerful one I got for a trip last year, as I started to camp more often and wanted something 'better', and I’m very pleased with my decision.
It is light and packs down relatively small (very useful as I travel everywhere by public transport and walking!), but seems extremely strong. It has stood up to the various weather conditions that Mid Wales and North Yorkshire had to offer in early spring.
It is quick to pitch on your own, and as it pitches outer first (and the inner can stay attached) everything stays dry if it’s raining.
The porch is huge, so your bags can be stored outside, allowing much more space for sleeping. This is one of the major things that drew to this tent.
There is plenty of space for 1 person in the inner, but may be a little tight on length for 2, especially if you are tall, as the maximum length is only available in the middle because of its shape.
It’s a little lower than I expected, with the maximum height at the door of the inner (halfway along the length of the tent), however I can sit up comfortably in it.
There are plenty of storage pockets in the inner, which stretch its entire length. These are extremely useful for storing your glasses when you go to bed so you can find them again, and not worry about rolling onto them in the night!
Unfortunately there isn’t a hanging point in the inner for a light, however because of the construction of the tent (the inner is suspended from the fly), and its height I can see why! I have just found that there is a hanging point in the porch just by the inner’s door though which is useful.
The vents in the fly and inner help it to control condensation well, and I’ve yet to find any dampness in the inner.
As stated below, there isn’t a groundsheet in the porch as standard, so I made my own footprint by cutting down a cheap PE groundsheet. I suspect that the official Vango footprint would be lighter, but either way, I think investing a footprint/porch groundsheet is a good investment to keep things clean and dry in the wet.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Spirit 200+, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight but spacious 1-2 man tent.

Regarding the previous review, there is a lightweight groundsheet available as an extra for this tent. The ratiler where it was purchased from may not stock it however we are pleased to say that it is available.
