We recently bought the tent which I think was the best £110 we have ever spent. We have also added the front porch the footprint and a universal side porch. The only criticism is you cant get the carpet to fit. After numerous visits to the OutdoorMegastore in Liverpool and very patient assistants I bought the Samara 600 carpet which is about 8ins short but perfect width. Just returned from Lady Heyes in Frodsham where we had torrential rain and force 8 gails but due to the use of Vango's internal bracing system the tent didnt move at all and was totally waterproof. This is our 4th tent in 4 months due to me seeking perfection and the wife loves the tent so much if I decide to sell this one its divorce!

We bought a 2009 model in early 2010 for over £100 off the list. Also have the footprint and the Vango Canopy. It's our first family tent. 2 Adults 3 Children 7,5,5. Overall very pleased with this. We've camped France for 14 nights, UK a couple of long weekends and planning Denmark for this summer. 45 minutes first time to pitch now down to about 30. Plus 10 or so for the canopy which we don't take on short trips. The footprint is definitely worth it. The main reason for adding the review was last weeks camping. We were on the edge of Dartmoor and the wind got up to 27kts (33 mph) (measured at a local met station). I got no sleep at all fretting but actually the tent was perfect. Rained a fair bit and all 5 of us can sit in the main section and play cards/eat without tripping over each other. Very pleased with it.

Just packed away after what is probably our last (4th) weekend trip in this tent for this year. We were looking for a spacious, reliable, weekend tent, that would provide enough room for a family without being so big you spend the whole time setting up and taking down. We settled on the Sungari 600 as a somewhat cheaper alternative to the famous Outwell Montana 6, and bought a 2009 model (in Spring 2010) for £250.

Overall we are very happy with the Sungari 600, and at that price it is very good value. We are a family of 4 (2 boys, 4 and 7) and can all fit in together in the main 4 person bedroom (divider removed). This leaves the smaller bedroom for storing bags, clothes etc. As is common with '6 person' tents, the main living area is comfortable for 4, but would be a squeeze with 6 !

Although we generally had decent weather it rained at least once on all of our outings, but not a drop entered the tent. We feel very secure in the Sungari whatever the weather, as do our boys.

Putting it up is pretty straightforward as other people have commented. Basically, just peg the back down, insert 4 identical (shock-corded)fibre-glass poles through sleeves, folding them 'backwards' (i.E. Over the back end of the tent, makes it easy to get both pins in), then gather up all poles on both sides (2 people needed), and walk them forward. Hold in place with centre front guy and peg out. We left the bedrooms in place to save time putting up, but in this form it won't go back in the bag (not an issue for us).

Though not huge the Sungari 600 is still a fair size, and we found the footprint groundsheet useful for establishing the pitch before setting out the tent. We'll be using it again next year without doubt, and will probably invest in the carpet (floor is chilly even with the footprint - we used picnic mats this year). There is a large front extension available which makes the tent huge, but not sure it's needed for weekend trips. The whole of the front of the tent opens up to form a canopy anyway.

Overall, highly recommended family tent, practical for weekends, and versatile and reliable enough for longer stays.

We've just purchased the Sungari 600dlx following much researching and I'm so glad we did. We decided what our minimum requirements were then we went round and looked at lots. Yeoman's camping exhibitions are so enlightening and you suddenly realise that maybe you don't want x but want y. My other half is well over 6 foot and we wanted something that he could comfortably stand up in 10/10 for the Sungari 600.

We prefer to use our own toilet and therefore a small bedroom or an area for the chemical loo was essential for us. Again 10/10 for the Sungari 600. There is only the two of us and I didn't want to clamber over a snoring body to go to the loo so we don't use the room divider and therefore have a massive bedroom with space on each side of the bed by placing it centrally where the divider would be. The storage pockets are brilliant and so useful for the torch and all those bits you need on a regular basis. We haven't yet bought the canopy but that's the top of the list to buy next. We have just ordered a footprint basically because I feel we should protect our investment - I don't want a stone or anything damaging the groundsheet and it will give us some extra warmth.

We have managed to put up everything and be sat down with a beer in 45 minutes and that is erecting and assembling the camp kitchen and cooker, table, sleeping area - everything. Our inaugural outing was in driving rain and gusty winds and it was interesting and an experience but it didn't put us off - we were proud of our achievement and learnt a great deal in the process! There is certainly a knack to getting the main body of the tent back into the bag and getting all the air out is all important and then getting it as near the size of the bag as possible then it goes in and I'm a girl and managed it quite easily! We camped last weekend and our neighbours told us that they had evidence of mice in their tent - thank goodness for a sewn in groundsheets. Also read the reviews about the weatherproof ratings - the Sungari again scores 10/10. Last weekend we had some serious rain and we were lovely and dry.

We love this tent but it does take time to erect and more time to put away. We only camp a minimum of 3 nights in it as a result. It has withstood torrential rain and gale force winds. Draughty under the main front doors in windy conditions, could do with some velcro on the storm skirts. This is our first tent and it was a good choice as we like height and space and windows.

We are new to camping, so spent a lot of time researching various tents before finally settling on the Sungari 600, and I am so glad we chose this tent.

It was straightforward to put up, although it did take considerably longer than 20 minutes by the time we had pegged it all out, but I am sure we will get quicker with more practice. Even so, we were inside and making up beds etc within the hour.

I would say this tent is perfect for a family of four - any more than that might be a push for anything longer than a weekend. We used the large sleeping area with partition for us and the two kids, and the spare room was useful for storing all our stuff.

The living area is spacious, and we were very comfortable even with all our chairs, table and kitchen area set up. We purchased the carpet, which made it feel cosy and comfy, and the large windows make it feel light and airy inside.

I wish we'd bought the canopy that goes with the tent, so we had somewhere undercover to sit out and cook when the weather was bad, but to be honest, we managed fine without, it just would have been a nice extra.

Taking the tent down at the end of the holiday was as simple as putting it up, and was easy to pack away into the spacious storage bag - we've had many experiences in the past of not being able to pack things back into their bags/boxes once they've come out, but no such problem with this tent!

The only bad point would be that the bag it packs could really do with being wheeled as it is so heavy! If you had to move it any distance from car to pitch, it would possibly be a struggle!

All in all, a great tent, and I would highly recommend the Sungari 600!

We purchased this tent this year as we have previously bought a new cheap tent every year and thought it about time we invested in a decent one. We did our research and have been very happy with the Sungari 600. It does take about 20 mins to pitch but by the time the guy ropes are pegged out and all the bedrooms put up you are talking more 40 mins in reality. The side door with the mesh option is a godsend to keep out all the flies it is just a shame the door the opposite side does not have that option too as then you could have a breeze through the tent without the millions of flies inhabiting as well. It is fairly easy to pitch with 2 people as long as there in no wind in the winds on the Norfolk coast it took our party of 3 plus some help from 2 neighbours to get the tent erected and pegged out.

It withstands wind and rain beautifully when erected and fully pegged out the additional straps on the inside provide extra strength in strong winds and can be packed away when not needed so you don't keep clotheslining yourself on them.

Overall a very good tent would definitely recommend the carpet and groundsheet as additional extras and we will also be purchasing the canopy in the future too.

We reluctantly sold our khyam rigi-pod system because although superb in erecting and taking down and reconfiguring with large/small parties we wanted less of a tent. This pitched perfectly considering we'd had the luxury of a click quick system previously. It has just as much space as before and we love the internal mesh and pocket features for storage. We haven't erected in strong winds or rain yet so can't comment on ease in these conditions. Overall a superb family tent which is airy and practical throughout.

We love our Sungari 600.

We bought it as a replacement for a black Halfords tent that we found inadequate for our needs. We were looking for better living space, more headroom, more storage and this time round a fully sown in groundsheet was a must along with a lighter colour that wouldn't get quite as hot in the rare event of some British sunshine :-) The Vango Sungari 600 in Smoke/Black ticks all the boxes for us, but we have found it to be a tight fit on some smaller pitches!

We found it a little difficult to pitch in windy conditions, and unfortunately we did manage to splinter one part of a pole on our first outing, but once up (with duck tape on splintered pole) it withstood the weather perfectly, both strong winds and heavy rain. Although fibreglass poles the internal straps make a huge difference in windy conditions, they really help to stabilise the tent and as they are a little annoying at other times they are easily removed when conditions improve.

It does take much longer than 20 minutes to pitch. Maybe 20 minutes for the basics and at least another 30 to peg in and adjust all the guy lines and bedrooms.

We also purchased the groundsheet and carpet, and would recommend those extras. Unfortunately we didn't get the canopy at the same time and we are disappointed that Vango has discontinued the smoke/black colour this year as we were hoping to get it for this summer.

This tent is very spacious with lots of storage pockets. Would be perfect for a family of 4 but a little cramped if more people were to sleep in it, though still plenty of space for guests at dinner or an evening drink.

We also like the mesh side door so we can keep it cooler in sunny weather without inviting all the bugs inside, and the ability to completely open the front if there isn't too many bugs around. Also the little porch over the side door is very good in wet weather.

Ours was a display model and it had a tear on one of the ground level corners but nothing a bit if tenacious tape couldn't fix and as mentioned above one pole is held together well with duck tape (essential piece of camping kit, how can anyone get along without?).

This is an upgrade to my previous review.

This is our second year with this tent, we really love it and can now put it up including the bed pods in under 30 minutes. The extra large canopy is quite hard to erect as you need to be tall, thank goodness for my 6ft 2 husband!

The whole tent is great, we have camped in sun, wind and rain and it has stood up to it all.

Great buy
