I do like this tent but do have some issues with it that annoys me. We just had our second week away with it.

On the good side.

Good Vango quality has stood up to some of the worst weather you could throw at a tent, ice (in may) hail, gale force wind and torrential rain - we stayed warm (ish) very dry and tent not damaged.

Fly screens on all doors are great for airing.

Height is good for standing even at 6ft.

Living area is large and enough room for 2 chairs and table and probably easily get another two chairs in with ease.

Easy to pitch - two of us 30min.

Pockets everywhere for bit and bobs.

Does have a light and airy feel and the windows are clear and plenty of them.

Now for the niggles.

Only one door has storm porch - other if open for airing with fly screen water runs in if raining.

4 birth - two of us comfortable 4 people would be a squash and no getting away as just a divider in the middle not a separate room.

End door/porch slopes steeply and makes inside an odd space, if a slight breeze on this end it blows/bows in taking a fair bit of space up, there is noway of stopping this we have tryed various ways.

I do like tent but not too sure I would get another one when come to change, but is a very good tent and will see many more trips with it.

On the whole this is a very good tent, spacious living area, good height, easy to erect and pack away. We have had plenty of wet weather whilst camping in this tent but remained dry and cosy.

The only negatives are the lack of flynet on the front door, could do with more windows and the bedroom is comfortable for 3 but a bit snug for 4. Would prefer the bedroom not to slant so steep at the back.

Back from our first trip with the DLX and we're smitten. It's our first tent that's tall enough to stand up in - so I'll try to be technical rather than emotional about how much better my back feels.

The tent is brilliantly designed - the extra living space the DLX version affords is enough for 2 of us to have a table, cooking station and two foldout chairs all inside comfortably. The bedroom area, when opened out, is great for two people plus all the kit bags, and there are plenty of storage pockets.

The weather was appalling for the 2 nights we were away - gale force winds which were battering the front, which really isn't meant to face the wind. However, the Tigris stood up to it - in fact the ground yielded before the tent did, with our pegs digging furrows in the ground!

There are a couple of comments about getting the flysheet tension ideal - this is true, so I'd advise you take your time pitching to get the pegging right. Careful use of the guy ropes helps.

Another couple of niggles - the pole that supports the side entrance canopy is about quarter of an inch long at each end, this leads to over tension around the side door and for us made zipping it up quite a challenge. We'll be removing the rubber tips and taking the excess off before we go back out. Also one of the tension straps broke on first use - I don't think I overtightened it but we won't be pushing for a warranty replacement as it's straightforward enough to repair.

In short, I'd highly recommend this tent - looking forward to taking it out when the weather's better!

Went to Weymouth back in August 2010 1st time proper camping and first time ever for wife and kids. Tent was pitched in about 30 mins by the wife and I. Second trip in this tent but the first time we only went for 1 night. This stood the test of 5 nights in an unusually wet Weymouth. Fantastic tent loads of space - even managed to accommodate 3 extra people for one night due to a disaster with their tent. We have the carpet and the wife did have a camp bed, the 2 kids and I were in airbeds comfortably. Not keen on the length and sloping of the back of the sleeping compartment but easily wide enough. I was going to buy the extension this year as we have accumulated a lot of equipment but might not bother as the extension only fits on the side door. Overall quite happy. Downsides are length and sloping of back of sleeping area and only one hanging thingie for the light. Mesh at the front would be a good idea. Got rid of the campbed now due to sloping roof.

We have owned a Vango MK5 cotton tent for over 30 years and used it over and over again in all weather conditions but as we are getting a little older crawling around has become less appealing so we decided to try something a little bigger.

Having looked around we decided on the Tigris 400dlx. As there are only the two of us we liked the space and the headroom that the 400DLX offered. The footprint is basically the Tigris 600 with extra living accommodation. The cross brace system and 3000hydro static head was also appealing.

We bought the tent, footprint ground sheet and carpet for £249 which we thought was great value.

We tried it at home first and had it up and pegged out in 20mins. We bought some spare poles in case of breakages cheaply on the internet and packed it all away for a 3 week trip to the Isle of Mull.

We arrived on Mull on 10th Sept to wind and rain ! Camping right on the Loch front with expected westerly gales this would be a test ! We pegged the corners out first pushed the poles in one at a time and had it all up within 15 minutes. That night and for the following two days we were hammered by gales and driving rain and we were really wondering had we done the right thing with such a big tent ! However despite the noise of the wind and rain the tent stood up admirably as it did for the whole 3 weeks ! No rain penetrated the tent through the fly sheet or under the ground sheet. We remained completely dry, warm and the tent stayed put. We did peg it out and tension it well and used heavy duty screw in pegs. The next 2 and a half weeks were pretty good. We had a mixture of sun, winds,frosts,-4 temps, heavy rain at night and we stayed completely dry, warm and safe the whole time and I have to say we were really pleased and somewhat amazed !

No real complaints. We might put a bit more velcro over the zip covers and add a couple of guy lines at the front but other than that it was great.

The carpet made a big difference and we thought it was well worth buying. We used a double ready bed ( also an excellent product as it doesn't go down ) in the bedroom end without the dividing wall. We bought some cheap jigsaw type mats for the bedroom and had our portaloo in there for emergencies. We had a camping wardrobe, camp kitchen, table and chairs plus other odds and ends and had loads of room. I think it would be a bit cramped for a family if you took all your stuff and the weather was bad but we have never taken so much stuff and been so comfortable.

All in all we thought it was a great tent, great value and a great holiday.

Killiechronan is situated right on the shores of Loch Na Keal on Mull. £3p/p/p/n. Toilet and sink close by but nothing else except for amazing scenery, sea eagles, deer and otters all from your tent. Great for canoeing too !

Hope that helps someone.

I bought this tent online a couple of weeks ago but have only just been able to erect it, just for the afternoon in my friends barn to make sure all seams, poles etc were ok.

As we were in a barn with a concrete floor obviously we couldn't peg it down so we used bricks to keep the corners down and managed to peg two guylines at the front into the gravel at the front of the barn.

One section of pole split before we'd even managed to get the pin into it. As we were pitching inside with no wind/weather issues I was rather disappointed to say the least. I have taken photo's and emailed the retailer where I bought it to ask for a replacement even though they state that poles are not covered by their warranty, I would at least expect brand new poles to last during the first erection!

We still managed to get the tent up despite the split pole and I must say that it is LUSH!

My criteria when searching for a new tent was full standing height, large bedroom, sewn-in-groundsheet and sheltered door. This tent ticks all the boxes plus has a very well sized living area for when the weather forces us to stay inside.

I think I will be investing in some stick-on Velcro strips to fasten the groundsheet to the door at night though as I can imagine it may get a bit draughty but that's no biggy.

I also bought the footprint and carpet to go with the tent and both were great, fitting well and good quality.

I have read a tip before about putting blobs of Blue-tak on the underside of the carpet to stop it from moving about and I think I will probably do that as with an active 13 year old son and 2 year old dog I should imagine the carpet will get a fair bit of use and probably would move about a bit.

The bedroom seems plenty wide enough but not too sure on length, I will have to wait and see how well the air beds will fit in, might have to put them sideways as my son is nearing 6ft but that's not a criticism of the tent just a personal issue.

Overall I am really happy with the look and size of this tent and would recommend it.

I'm in the process of buying the premium extension to go with it for poorer weather as it would be nice to have even more space to hang wet clothes and put the cooker, stand, bbq etc.

Pros: Well designed for the weather with a very high groundsheet and a good flap arrangement at the entrances to keep rain out. The facility to open the front 'barn door' into an awning is good when it's hot - this really keeps the tent cool inside. The main door is actually the smaller one at the side, with a sort of porch above it. There is enough space for four adults in the two sleeping compartments and it really is a four-person tent. Ventilation is effective with only a small amount of condensation on the windows in the morning. There's a little zip for electrical hookups, if you feel the need for one.

Cons: Slightly tricky to pitch properly and get the flysheet tight in all areas. The two sleeping compartments aren't really separate; there's a flimsy curtain between them. Space is OK for four to sit with a table, but on really wet days you might want to dismantle the sleeping compartments and pile up your mattresses for more space. Only one obvious space to hang a light. The blue/grey colour is a bit icky.

The Vango Tigris 400DLX was made to order for the store where I work in 2009, but this year has been made available to other outlets. Basically, it is the skin of the Vango Tigris 600, but following requests from customers, Vango left out the double bedroom across the front door, moved the side window and door forward a section. This gives a 4 berth tent with LOADS of living space inside. I fell in love with this one and managed to buy the display model at a greatly discounted price.

It's plenty big enough to live in comfortably- older couples who like a bit of space, younger couples with one or two little 'uns. However, at 5.90 metres long, it comes in nicely under the radar for campsites with set pitch sizes. You get an extra couple of king poles to put up the front door as a canopy. Decent living space to stretch out in if the weather is bad. There's good standing room in this tent, and this year they're making footprint groundsheets and carpets for it. It's a belting all-round tent whether for a weekend or a couple of weeks. I love this! Worth every penny.

Used this tent for the first time June 2010. Very impressed with ease of assembly - only one criticism (which I have seen mirrored elsewhere for the 400 version) - no flyscreen on the main entrance.

Plenty of living space inside (has the living area of a 600) and lots of headroom. Felt plenty spacious for 2 adults with a king-size mattress and child under 5 with an all-in-one bed in the combined sleeping area without the room divider. Plan to get the extension next for storing the cooker in.

Just arrived back from the maiden voyage. Bought this tent for two of us, though four of us made this trip. Loads of space in the living area. Very easy to put up and take down. Was quite windy at times and the storm straps steadied it somewhat. Rained during the night and no adverse effect. Must agree with Warrenb, it really could do with a net on the front door, especially because the door is quite big.
