Bought this tent off Ebay as wanted something bigger that I could introduce the family to as didn't want to risk buying new and them just not getting along with camping.

I camp on my own just to escape and this tent is luxurious for that, with my better half and one of our kids (6yrs old) it's just the right size, to be honest you'd have to be pretty intimate for four adults to use this tent.

I've used the tent in some pretty wet and windy weather and it's held up with no issues, a gripe would be you can't have a door open in the rain. With the supplied king poles the front door makes a great porch/sunshade. Plenty of windows and good ventilation.

I'll be keeping the tent for when just me goes as it fits on the motorbike but as kids and, more importantly, my better half loved camping I've bought a Kalahari for family trips.

I bought this tent because I wanted something with a bit of space and two separate bedrooms to camp with my granddaughter in what seems like more frequently occurring bad weather.

I chose the Tigris partly because of the good reviews on here but also because I managed to find a little used one with extension, carpet, and footprint for Ł40. I was also rather disillusioned with the poor quality and price of current day tents.

We have just returned from a week in Norfolk in rather damp and windy weather. I must admit that I approached the trip with some trepidation, not least because some of the previous comments suggest there might be a lack of space, which I did find a bit hard to understand - it's the same floor area as a good sized conservatory and my normal tent will fit in one half of the bedroom twice over. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know.

Suffice it to say, absolutely no problems. Easy to pitch single handed. Didn't budge in the wind. No difficulty cooking over a meths burner inside with everything closed up and far enough from the walls not to splatter. Didn't use the extension or the carpet as they strike me as pointless complications. It was just like living in a cosy aircraft hangar.

Thoroughly recommended for the occasional break from real camping.

Brought this tent as a deluxe long weekender/week tent for 2, to replace our larger Sunncamp Frame tent. After a few years use I feel that I am in a good position to give a review.

Pros of the tent- Fantastic waterproof bathtub ground sheet, holds up to strong winds and rain, ample room, no draughts, light and airy, nice canopy to front door in the sunshine, easy to pitch and strike camp.

Cons- Due to door designs it can feel rather enclosed in wet weather as you are unable to have doors open at all, side door drips water in from roof and being a bathtub groundsheet water stays inside, due to slope on front wall this door is rarely used, never in wet weather, zips on the front wall door are a little awkward to use from inside and have to be half closed to be able to shut from the outside.

This tent was always going to be a compromise and although the build quality is faultless I do feel that there are a few design flaws, if you are not using extra porches or canopies, regarding water leakage around the doors in wet weather that could be improved upon.

We are very pleased with our Vango Tigris 400 brought early 2011, but is a 2010 colour. Is easy to pitch and gives plenty of room for 2 adults. The height is great as my partner is over 6ft and can easily stand up in both the main part and sleeping area. We have put velco down in the main area and on the back of the carpet as it stops the carpet from moving, a wise move! Stands up well to wet and windy weather. Our only fault we find is that the material is not very generous on the side door and even if all the guy ropes are out the zip on the side door pulls on the tent fabric so we have to be careful when using this door, its not so bad on the main door. We treated ourselves to the canopy extension this year (2012) as we camp with another couple and its great to have the extra space for when we are all together at meal times and for sitting in during the evening. However when first used we were slightly disappointed that it did not give us that much extra space. It was only when back home that we looked more into this that we found we had put the canopy too far back on the tent and it had covered the side window and door! At the time we thought it was probably incorrect. On our next trip done correctly the space is amazing well worth the extra outlay if camping for longer than a weekend or going away with other people. Easy to put up just don't cover the side window and door! Happy camping

On the whole I agree with most of the comments about the tent. I wouldn't agree with the review that says it's hard to pack with the bedroom in the saddle bag though. Never had a problem.

I would like to add this comment. It's not the tightest of 'canvas' when pitch (particularly above the main living area) . I never paid much mind to this until this weekend in blustery Brixham. The material sounded like a loud supermarket plastic carrier bag in the wind. No amount of guy rope adjustment made a difference.

Oh I don't like the 'blade' type pegs - I can see mine starting to get metal fatigue already. Get yourself some spare nail pegs.

This isn't so much a review of the tent itself, but Vango's excellent customer service. Our Tigris 400 sprung a leak during a rainy camping week last year on only its second outing. On our return, the suppliers only comment was 'Reproof it!' - not an issue with modern camping fabrics. However, when we approached Vango they were extremely helpful. They were interested in what we had to say, collected the tent and replaced it with the current model. Their feedback, help and general attitude has been really refreshing, especially Nan, May and Kathleen, and I would recommend Vango tents wholeheartedly! Thank you Vango!

We bought this to use as a couple as the Vango kura we have is to big for just two. Its very easy to put up, and for 2 the bedroom is ample - gives us lots of space around. Nice to have two options for entering the tent - side access and front. Holdall for tent good with separate compartments for fly, inner and poles/pegs. Overall very pleased with the tent.

Hi, I'm new to camping and I just wanted to add my review! I bought the Tigris 400 in February this year and its finally had its first outing. I bought this tent because it looked a good size for a family of four, 2 adults and 2 young children. But I soon realised that I wanted to add the extension. So that was bought as well. Our first outing in the Tigris was in Wareham at Pear Tree Park. We arrived 15/08/2011 til the 20/08/2011. Pitching the main tent and the extension was easy peasy and my partner and myself made quick work of bending poles, pegging out guy ropes and setting up. We felt like confident campers and eased into camping life quickly with our friends in the next door tent. The front enclosed extension was huge and became our segregated area for cooking whilst the living area was for chilling out. Being our first experience of camping in could get any better, no it got WORSE! We woke on the Thursday morning to find the groundsheet in the extension to be a flood. Yes, you guessed it we were caught in the Dorset Flash Floods. In half an hour, 2 weeks of rain lashed down and pummelled upon the tent and created a lake at our feet. I had to embark on a bit of DIY and use clothes pegs to create a bathtub with the enclosed extension ground sheet. Our friends and their children, my partner and our children and fellow campers came to help bail out the water with buckets, frying pans, saucepans and anything which carry water to the very nearby stream as it got deeper and deeper. Our friends gave us two choices we could give in and pack up or move pitch. We went with the latter and moved both our tents to higher ground. The Tigris really did us proud although a flood had formed around the extension and underneath the tent it remained water tight. No leaks, no drips and dry bedding. The children were able to stay in their beds whilst we helped our friends move their Outwell Glendale 5. The Tigris 400 is value for money and passed the initiation test of standing up to ULTIMATE weather conditions and came out still standing and drying out for another trip. This tent is ideal for a weekend but for longer trips as a family of four you definitely need the extension. My only gripe which I think Vango could improve is the extension ground sheet, I reckon that Vango should follow the Outwell innovation of a detachable bathtub enclosure.

First outing with new tent (bought in sale last year's model). Watched a video before leaving which really helped for the first pitching experience without looking like you had no idea what you were doing! This took 2 of us about 30 minutes but will probably get faster with practise. Very impressed with all the details - pockets etc. Have bought footprint and carpet so had a very luxurious first weekend away. Looking forward to many many more.

We bought this tent last year and have been numerous weekends and last year's summer holiday in it and are just back last night from 10 days in the North of Scotland so I feel qualified now to give a review. I would rather the SIG did not have flaps at the doors for ease of entering as it just lets the wind in. The biggest downside is that although the door has a mosquito net the big opening at the front does not and when the midges come out you cannot open the big door so you feel closed in. When we buy another one this will definitely be what we will look for. Other than that we have found this tent to be very good indeed.
