Purchased our tent in 2011 and used it that summer, during which we enjoyed good weather, so we were very impressed with the tent overall during its first outing. However the real test came in August 2011 while camping in Dorset during the flash floods, the rain was torrential. The tent was awesome, not a drop of rain entered the tent and we were on the highest, most exposed area of the site with the wind driving the rain into us. It is quick and easy to erect, very spacious living area (we are a family of 4)to stretch out in and good sized bedrooms. For this trip, I purchased the canopy and would strongly recommend it. Excellent tent.

Would like to add to my earlier post. If you purchase the canopy, you get a pole that fits across the top of the living area which does give more stability. We use this pole all the time now even when we are not using the canopy.

I think for the price you will not find a better tent.

What does a Bear Lake 6 cost?

Purchased as a 1st tent, new to camping and wanted to try a few sites before investing a large amount of money.

Positives:

The size of the tent is perfect, kids in smaller rooms us in the large 4 berth room.

Really easy to pitch (when not to windy).

Hasn't leaked at any seams.

The SIG is good for keeping out bugs but could do with a zip on the bottom of the door, or velcro as a previous reviewer has done.

Negatives:

If you have to pitch side on to the wind, the centre section doesn't have enough support to stop the flysheet from being blown in. It could do with a centre pole and the door to be split in two.

When it is raining it is hard to get in and out without getting the inside of the tent wet. (side extension would solve this)

As with all polyester tents it gets so hot inside when the sun is out.

Overall it is good value for money - under £150, but not in the same league as my new Bear Lake 6

We have just bought one of these to get us started in camping with our 6 children for the bargain price of £149 and so far we are very pleased with it.

Both times we have used it, (short weekends) it has been dry so cant comment on it in rain but in the light winds it was fine.

It takes us about 30 mins to pitch and thats with kids 'helping' and my limited mobility so very good we have also just left bedroom pods in when packing the tent away and it still fits in the bag fine.

It is a lovely big airy tent and the windows in it make it so much nicer than when I went camping when I was younger in tents without windows.

We had a double airbed in both smaller pods so there were 3 children to a pod until the youngest got upset so we put her ready bed in the larger pod with us and the divider rolled up and there was still plenty of space for us and storage.

When you don't need all the bedroom pods its great that you can remove them to have the space for other things you take.

We will be getting the porch for ours as it will provide welly storage/shade for children, dogs when relaxing.

All in a fab tent and bargain price which helps get you started quicker if your on a budget x

After reading the great reviews for this tent we bought one from Somerset camping for £149, which we think is an absolute bargain! We also bought the footprint, carpet, canopy and windbreak, all at greatly reduced prices as they are the 2010 models. We have used this tent twice and think it is fab! It is so easy to put up, took us an hour the first time as we were reading the instructions but only took 25 mins the second time, without instructions.

It is so spacious. My husband and I used the large bedroom (took the partition down), one bedroom was used for the toilet area and the other bedroom space was for the kitchen unit and all our bits and bobs. We had 2 large dogs with us and there was loads of room.

Not used it in bad weather yet but so far we are really pleased that we chose this tent. Can't wait to take my 2 grandsons away in it.

New to camping and after a lot of research we chose this tent and bought it online from Somerset camping along with footprint and carpet.

We have now been away 4 times in it and although we are a family of 5 the eldest has decided she doesn't 'do' camping so its mainly just 4 of us that go away. We tend to have the 2 kids in one of the small pods and my husband and I have the larger bedroom. We leave the other pod out and use that space for our cupboards and a mini kitchen area for prepping.

We have recently been bought the awning as an early Christmas present and used this on our last camp and it was fantastic (although had to take it down in the middle of our last night due to very high winds) the tent and the awning are very easy to pitch and drop

All in all a fantastic family tent and we get lots of admiration about our set up when we are camping.

We are a family of 5 and recently upgraded to this tent, which is fabulous. Our youngest child is only 1, so we take the dividing wall out of the large bedroom and sleep with him in one large bedroom - still with plenty of space around the airbeds. Our older boys sleep at the other end of the tent in the two bedrooms, so the little one doesn't disturb them if he wakes early.

We chose this model because the bedrooms have good headroom and aren't claustrophobic as in some large tents, where the inner can be touching your face! The living space is also very large - plenty of room for bags, table & chairs etc. That said, the tent isn't a 'monster' and doesn't exclude you from a normal pitch size.

It was our intention to buy a tent that we could take touring around the S of France and l think we've cracked it with this one!

Highly recommended, l bought it direct from Wynnster for £179 incl next day delivery AND received excellent customer service from their distributor (Khyham).

Bought this tent earlier this summer and took it for 4 nights to Wales. We had 24hrs of rain and the tent stood up well, only leaking slightly from 2 seams.

We had 7 adults and a dog in this tent and we all had enough space, even when we were rained in! I'm now considering buying the awning, for welly boot space!

Overall, we are very happy with this tent.

Great tent with only 4 poles to erect. This is the first tunnel tent we have owned and it took only 25 minutes to erect, including bedrooms. This tent is huge it took 2 adults sharing one bedroom and 2 children in separate bedrooms. The fourth bedroom was used for storage. The main living area is vast and even when the side is closed there is plenty of room to move about with room to stand up.

We have this tent and it is a fantastic size for a family of 4. Easy to pitch with 2 adults (although kids are great to hold poles)It is very big inside. The kids have a pod each and my husband and myself share a pod so there is plenty of room in the other pod to store the food, wash room come toilet at night. I would recommend it to anyone. It cost me £164 on line including extra ground sheet, porch and delivery!
