I bought this as an easy tent to put up and use for just 1 adult and 2 children for short periods (our main family tent is a Breckeridge 6 berth which is too large and heavy for 1 adult to try to erect) and to also fit easily into a small car.
It was a lovely tent to use for the 2 occasions e used it for. The first was a trial in our garden for 2 nights which was great as the weather was very favourable! It was easy and quick to put up and take down - no hassle.
The second occasion was ideal for a short get away - that is until it rained! Typically the rain came when I wanted to take it down! But at least that gave me an opportunity to have a good look at it structurally and found that the middle seam directly above where the bedroom hangs leaked (where the middle pole runs above- if we'd been there for longer that would have made our bedding wet). The seam looked poorly sewn - the same was at one spot around the side door too - disappointing really as I had been quite pleased with it upto that point! Also the front door being propped up wasn't the best compared to the height of the inside of the tent as it seemed short despite me being a mere 5 foot 3 inches. I will be returning it to discuss replacement etc - a pity as it was a great way to get quickly away with the kids for a few nights in a small car and the associated paraphernalia!

On the first outing 2 poles snapped. Tent was put up correctly as I have owned Vango tents for years. The poles look very brittle?
On a positive note, good size tent and was dry inside after a heavy shower.
Pitching took about 25mins by myself, probably 10 mins with a helper.
Also own the additional canopy, this is a must buy. Gives so much more room.

I bought one of these after seeing it at a Yeomans store and really liked it.
Took it out for the first time and had absolutely torrential downpours and it leaked at the top seam above the door, however, since we have had it out and it hasnt leaked any more.
We love this tent, the size is perfect. It also got tested in awful winds on the east coast to which it stood up to very well.
Only one fault with it is when it is raining and you open one of the doors to go in and out there is nothing to stop the rain from going straight into the tent but not a huge problem.
All in all a fantastic tent for the price.

Used to have a Vango Diablo which was great but needed a new tent and after seeing our friend's older Icarus 500, we decided to buy the new version.
First time out with it was good and we were generally happy although it proved a little tricky to pitch it with no slight twist in the canopy. The weather on this trip was fantastic - no rain or wind.
However, the next trip was different. The weather was wet and windy and both the tent and canopy simply couldn't cope. Two of the tent poles splintered and snapped. Also, one of the clips that attaches to the pole came away from the tent through the stitching.
I took the tent back to the shop and eventually got an exchange for the same model.
However, on the next trip it was pretty wet but the tent boasts 3000 hh so thought it wouldn't be an issue. How wrong we were!
The tent leaked all along the stitching just above floor level and ran and left pools in the front corner of the tent.
Not only that but the flap on the ground level of the canopy simply ripped from it's stitching.
Have now had a full refund on the tent and it's back to the drawing board - as it should be for this tent!

This was only our second tent and I was a bit worried about how easily it could be erected- We did a practice run in the garden and it went up easily in 30 minutes following the instructions as we were going. We have since used the tent four times and it is extremely easy to erect with only three identical poles- so no room for confusion- it now goes up in fifteen minutes and could be erected by one person if needs be.
The front living space is ample with good light through three windows and two access doors, both of which have internal separate mesh to keep insects out but allow fresh air in. The sleeping compartment is versatile allowing for either two separate sleeping compartments or one larger compartment if used by a couple.

The Icarus 500 is our first tent. We are really pleased with it although wouldn't recommend trying to sleep 5 people. We use the tent for the two of us and have also purchased the canopy which makes for an even better tent. We have used it in continuous rain and it has withstood a far amount of wind too. It probably doesn't take us the 10-15 minutes it suggests it takes to put up although we can get the tent and canopy up in about half an hour. We would recommend this tent to anyone especially for people like us who were new to camping.

Have just returned from a very wet and windy weekend in Angelsey and returned tent to Go Outdoors. It leaked, tapes inside were awkward and flapped about in the wind. Our friends had an Outwell - no leaks, no condensation, more light and clearly far higher quality. Have bought one for next trip in two weeks.
Only really room for 2/3 - my advice is spend a bit more and buy an Outwell Virginia 5.

We bought this tent last year and used it then for 4 nights. We have just completed a full week in the tent and it has been fantastic. There are 4 of us (2 adults and 4 year old twins)and we coped with the amount of space though as the kids get bigger it may be tight.
We used it with the matching canopy as kitchen / dining room, footprint and 4 pole windbreak. The tent stood up to howling wind and rain with no leaks! It's a cracking tent though 4 people is plenty. It is easy to put up it takes us about 20 min's with help from the little ones & 15 on our own.
We will be keeping this for short trips and if we can get out on our own but may get the bigger Maritsa 700 for a full weeks trip.

We are about to take our new Vango on its 2nd outing, went to Brean for its test run - very very windy and rained (a lot!) - and only the front seam on left & right did leak a little - nothing a bit of seam sealant won't fix I am sure. We upgraded to this size, even though there are only 2 of us (and our dog) - but the room is brilliant. Head room and space made a huge difference from our Coleman 300, may invest in the footprint - but havent done yet, and use picnic sheets for a 'carpet'. Impressed with our new tent so far - sunshine test please for the next outing!
Only downside, would say we will probably use the side door more than the front one - as when it rains the slope design of the door means that rain does get in.

We find our tent to be good, its simple to put up and easy peasy to take down. Its lovely and spacious and doors situated well.
Only complaint is the amount of condensation it accumulates! It does seem to get quite damp!
Good all rounder tent. There are only 2 of us use it but I should imagine its good for a small family or for 4 people.
