Best tent ever used, bought for £299 in Gooutdoors with promotions coupon. Loads of room to have everyone in one place if raining, we also used Living Space for sleeping in as there was 8 of us camping. Would buy again. Easy and fast to put up. Will probably buy the awning too for the front at a later stage.

Fantastic tent which has stood up to some horrendous wind and rain without any problems whilst we all sat comfortably inside the spacious lounge. The porch addition to the front is a must for food preparation and sitting out. We have upgraded the pegs as those supplied are only suitable for quite soft ground and we also found if the wind changes direction and catches the porch at the right angle, it needed a little more restraint. The numerous storage pockets to both the reception and bedrooms are superb for keeping everything tidy. The only real complaint we have relates to the windows and main doors which do not fully zip around the bottom and are awkward to close sufficiently from inside in order to keep the weather out at night.
This is a fantastic quality family tent which we would recommend 100%.

We only used our Montana for a couple of long weekends and it handled everything brilliantly, torrential rain and gale force winds and the odd few hours of British sun.
My only gripe would be the doors, the main door unless you use the canopy or extension (which we did) lets in the wet when coming in and out and would be so much better if it was zipped all the way not just velcro - the angle of the front seems to be a bit of wasted space too (we didn't think about that when we brought it). The side porch we ended up using as a store as we found if we did go to use it in the wet, we were getting wet just leaning right down to unzip (perhaps that was just us though) - I think this years Montana has an improved porch though.
The usual Outwell quality is evident throughout the tent, plenty of room when it is raining and your stuck inside it feels really spacious, even if you have got your kitchen unit inside, table and chairs a dog pen, a cupboard, a Husband, two kids and two dogs, we still had room for friends to fit in.
It is a great tent.
.Although we have now sold the Montana 6 on after only owning it for a few months as we were planning on getting a folding camper - have changed our minds on that now and are having the Outwell Arkansas 5 being delivered today - woohoo!

Absolutely fantastic tent - upgraded to this from our smaller previous Outwell. Chose this for size and wanted to go back steel poles for stability. Love it. Have used it in all conditions from gale force winds & rain to roasting sunshine and it is equipped to cope with all. Just back from a scarily windy weekend where many other tents collapsed/tore and one actually took off and blew away but not the Montana, it stood strong. After our first season we found the main front door a little annoying in bad weather as we too use the wee side porch for our portaloo (this is meant to be your rain door access). So this year we bought the front extension. This made all the difference and is perfect for cooking in and storage. You can now sit in adverse weather with the front door completely open as the extension protects from the wind and rain. All in all a perfect tent for us with the added extension.

I'm sitting in our Monte typing this onto my iPhone (Just showing off!), in the Caerfai Bay Organic Farm site at St. David's, Pembrokeshire. The wind is howling fiercely pounding the rain against the tent. Many campers have packed up and left but I'm sitting here with my paper and a coffee! It is standing proudly in these gale-force conditions. My two dogs are asleep!
Granted we are using delta pegs and six storm guylines but the extension is up also and the storm lines are mainly being used for that.
We love this tent having had two good khyam tents before.
It is very roomy, warm and comfy and we use the side door closed little area as our chemical loo room. Ideal but for wees only, at night, of course!
I have a spinal implant that causes me daily chronic pain and our monte can take a little time to put up but easy. We do take time to sit down during the process. What's the rush! It has got so easy to erect, especially now we have learned the best way is to raise the rear poles and then peg down. Then let some air into the tent and then raise the front poles. Peg these down and follow with the two sets of middle crossbars. The rest is pee-easy!
With the sewn I'm groundsheet and footprint carpet we are very cosy! The dogs don't want to go for a walk it's so wild out there and so snug here in our Monte!
Love it, love it, love it!

Having researched many tents and reading all the fantastic reviews on this tent we opted for this one and we are not disappointed.
We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 big dogs and have found it more than adequate in size for us all. We will be opting for either the ext or awning, not really sure which one yet.
Have experienced a little rain, but nothing heavy yet, but hoping it will hold up as in previous reviews. We liked the mesh screens as used it this weekend (26th June) really hot and it enabled the air to circulate without the bugs getting in.
Great storage pockets in main area and now in bedrooms. All round fab tent.

Fantastic! after our last tent died in the wind we decided to get good sturdy poled tent - the Monty.
Very spacious, can sleep the five of us comfortably on air beds. Enough space for everyone, brilliant having built in ground sheet and carpet makes it really cosy. Only small negative is the size of the tent when packed away, but would still give it 10/10

After viewing many of the 6/8 berth tents for the last 2 years my wife and I decided to start off by buying the basic Outwell Montana 6 tent. It seemed to be a well constructed tent that was somewhat modular in design (it allows you to adapt it to your extra needs should you wish to add awnings or a canopy!) We spent 3 nights in the Cotswolds at a familiar site and found the tent practical and easy to set up. This all being done in the rain for the first time. We liked the various combinations that one could make with regards to the light coming into the tent and the fly meshes etc. This helped greatly as the weather got progressively hotter during the 4 days we were there! Not the cheapest tent on the market but well worth the small premium over perhaps some close rivals in this class/size.

First saw this tent at a Yeomans exhibition but preferred the Vango Maritsa 700. After looking for real life reviews I found this site and it became a no brainer. I'm sure we would have been happy with the Vango but is it poor design or poor QC that so many have problems around the windows? There is a reason this tent scores so highly on here. Great design and quality means great reliability and safety knowing that when it is blowing a gale or the heavens have opened, you stay warm and dry.
We pitched in the garden at the end of May and left it up 5 days to receive the most torrential rain I have seen this year. Not a hint of water ingress from anywhere. We then took it to the north Norfolk coast for a week of dry but blustery weather and it never offered to move.
It has been 30 years since we last camped (with our parents) and we had more than a little apprehension about pitching and packing away. These fears proved unfounded as the practice run in the garden and the youtube video alleviated any stress from the experience. We had booked an 11m x 8m EHU pitch for the tent and the extension and fully expected the car to fit along side the tent on the pitch. By the time the guys were all pegged out there was no room. The footprint is very useful for positioning the tent on the pitch as well as protecting the SIG.
With just the two of us on this occasion, the tent was too big but this was the trial run to see how practical camping would be with the grandchildren in tow. Fully kitted out there will still be oceans of room for them to play on wetter days or whilst meals are prepared. We will need to take two cars or buy a trailer or roofbox when the children come along as the Ford Focus was full to capacity.
We have the footprint, carpet and front extension and although not required they should be part of the package as they are all extremely useful.
Things I would improve as long as it didn't compromise the effectiveness of it's design would be :-
Square up the front, it is a long way down and out to unzip from the inside in the mornings.
Fully zipped front door, it can get draughty unless the fly screen is zipped up to pull the velcro fasteners to the correct position.
Stuff pockets for bedroom doors and curtains, I don't know how effective these are but they must beat rolling and tying :)
A couple more EHU access zips, didn't cause us a problem on this occasion but only because our lead was long enough to reach from the opposite side of the tent.
Would have preferred 2+2+2 bedrooms instead of 3+3 but only because of our family make up - 2 couples and 2 children. Love the fact that we can drop a bedroom pod to gain an even larger living space so wouldn't want to see that feature go.
Are there better tents out there for us? Possibly but one things for sure, we may in the future get camping disasters where air beds leak or camp chairs break but the Montana 6 will not be letting us down.

We have just been away for the 1st time in our Montana 6 (2010 model) and we had a great time! Having pitched it once in the garden (not all the way but enough to get the idea), we managed to get it up in around 25mins, with just the adjustments on guys etc after that. We watched the YouTube video and mostly used that method (back section 1st, then front and then the 2 middle sets).
We had some difficulty getting the pins into the bottom of the poles and so we borrowed what another reviewer had suggested (thank you!). We basically pinned it on one side, then on the other side we separated the bottom section of pole, popped the pin in and then fixed the pole back together. Worked a treat!
The tent was plenty big enough for us two adults with our bouncy border collie who slept in his crate. We used the second bedroom for our bags but there is more than enough room in the main tent for them should we need the second bedroom in years to come.
We bought the groundsheet which takes up little extra room in the car but provides that extra protection to the bottom of the tent. We also had the carpet. We weren't going to buy this but as it was reduced when we bought the tent we just went for it.And loved it! Although we had pretty much perfect weather all week, it was great in the evenings. It was also really easy to clean (especially when we might have spilt red wine on it.Ahem!)and when we did have rain one evening, it stood up well to wet feet(and paws).
We had also watched the video on putting it back in the bag and although it was very tight, it worked 1st time. We just had one of us 'walking' the air out as we rolled it up.
All in all, a fantastic tent. We can't wait to go away again in August. Now we have to decide whether we go for the extension or wait a bit.
