Just back from a weeks camping in Scotland, very pleased with the Nevada M. We were caught in the thunderstorms that flooded some parts of Scotland but not a leak in the tent. Very easy to erect, it takes me and my wife 15 minutes to put up, a very good all round tent with no problems at all.

We bought our tent in 2008 after a lot of diliberating and viewing camping exhibitions & shops. We have been camping for years, so wanted to carefully choose yet another tent and make sure it was not just going to add to our collection in the loft! We wanted one big enough for our family (2 adults & 2 children aged 2 and 4) but didn't take up all the boot space or need a trailer. We have a Volvo estate and don't have a lot of kitchen equipment, but by the time we have packed all the camping stuff & the kids toys, the top box and the car are so full, my husband warns us we can't even break wind or the car will explode!

The Nevada M has been perfect for our requirements. We have bought the Nevada side extension too, which we were warned wasn't really for the Nevada M, but it seems to fit fine & provides a great cooking area & eating shelter for drizzley days.

We have also bought the kids bedroom which is fabulous & our kids get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

We have one of those double height queen sized airbeds which takes up all the triple bedroom. The kids are in ready beds so have ample space in their double room. They'll still have plenty of space when they move up to standard single air beds.

The only problem we have had is with the poles. The elastic snapped in one after the first outing, but the shop repaired it for us. Now we have used it several times, the metal on one pole is bending back. Maybe this is due to the tension that a tunnel-type tent takes?

We experienced the tension with the zips that other people have mentioned, but it was because we had erected the tent incorrectly. You have to unzip the zips to put the tent down, but make sure you erect it with the zips done up or you won't be able to zip them up again.

I also like the layout of the bedrooms. If my littlies wake up in the night I can unzip the adjoining bedroom walls and talk to them without leaving my warm sleeping bag! Something I couldn't do in our old vis-a-vis tent. Also, the SIG makes it less draughty and protects everything from the rain.

Great tent for more than 1 night (we took a simple 5-man dome tent when touring France for 1-night stop overs). We would defo use the Nevada M for a fortnight's holiday, but we have never owned a bigger tent!

The side porch has straps that DO NOT need to be fully tight. Those having issues with the side door being 'tight' zip hard to open/close have erected the tent wrongly!

A fab tent and as we have the front extension shall be using this for a few years. Best features the pockets on the bedrooms, electric cable access zip, front panoramic views. Also like how you can put down half of bedroom area too. We have the footprint, and carpet too all together a fantastic outfit for £240 including the extension. A bargain!

We bought this as a small weekender (our main tent is the Nebraska XL). Initially had some problems finding a combination of airbeds that worked, as the width is based on sleeping mats (@60cm) rather than airbeds. Finally found that two double airbeds, plus a kid’s readybed fitted to sleep 5 – though the pod divider has to be rolled up. One double airbed with three child readybeds will also squeeze in.

The new Mocha colour was off-putting at first, but we found it quite relaxing in practice, and after the initial ‘erk’, the 70’s style bubble carpet was fine as well. We haven’t had a problem so far with the porch zip, and the bedroom door mesh is a tiny bit at the top, so no worries about flashing the neighbours! Panoramic windows around the living area make it seem bigger.

Going from such a large tent to one without a front porch made us think about things we never had before. Where do muddy boots go? Where are we to put on our shoes? The rain door did a good job of keeping water from dripping directly into the tent. We used half a picnic blanket along with the complementary Outwell doormat to create an entrance area and keep our carpet clean. Lack of windows that open was a bit disappointing – it’s the entire door up or nothing. This also meant that ventilation had to be provided at the bottom of each door – they didn’t zip securely around, meaning that the bug mesh had to be fully zipped up all the time. This made getting in and out a little more time-consuming. (In case you’re wondering, a crawling baby will escape through the slightest gap!)

The carbon fibre poles were good at first (second trip out, the elastic cable snapped as we were setting up). Lovely and light for lugging around, and very easy to clip onto. We found we tend to put too much tension on the guy ropes though, and the whole structure would bend out of shape. Finger taut only! We had a bit of a wind when putting up, but didn’t find it too much of a problem. Getting back in the bag was easy.

Living space is pretty decent. We comfortably fit in the Outwell Haiti cupboard, a table, three chairs, with plenty of space left over for a rug rat and, if necessary, two extra chairs for visitors!

Not a tent I’d want for a two week trip (without a utility tent in addition) but just fine for weekends and short jaunts.

We love it, our last tent was a Vango Diablo 800 that always lead to frayed tempers trying to erect it properly.

Our priorities for this tent were:

1. Easy to erect (put your tent name into youtube.Com for an ease of pitching video, bit anorakie but it saved us from buying a Vango Orchy 500 (as well as the reviews on this website of course!))

2. Roomy

3. Budget of around £200

4. Able to stand up in it

We have now used it for 3 weekends away in May this year, on the first weekend we worked on our pitching technique (tunnel tent design is new to us), we can now very quickly pitch it right first time, about 20mins including the footprint. We did find putting some tension on the front pole before the back pole essential. We have not used it in heavy weather yet, Cornwall in August for 10 days may be a good test.

Sure there are a number of things that could be improved such as having dark material around the bedroom but value for money, unbeatable!

I purchased a Nevada M and we went away in it last week. On day 2 of our holiday the zip on the outer porch side door failed, there is a lot of tension on this door. I returned the tent for a refund and was told they had never heard of this problem before. Reading on here there are quite a few problems with Outwell porches.

Had this tent for just over a year now its great easy to put up etc, plenty of room for the 5 of us. Even when it has been pouring in rain we can all sit in, we have one problem with the porch door, we have a little rip coming on the zip not sure how happened. We have got the extra poles and now have the front open. Fantastic tent.

We bought the Nevada M as a second tent to use for weekends, rather than taking our Nebraska XL . Took our Nevada M out for the 2nd time this year, and its a fantastic tent. It fits our family of 3 just right. We roll the bedroom divider up to create one big bedroom, and there is loads of room. We like the amount of light that you get with this tent. It is quick to put up, takes us about 15 min. The only poor comment, is that the porch door does have tension on the zip when closing but this is something we knew about before we bought it. The carpet is great with this tent stops all the rustling noise. A good weekend tent.

Took this tent on its first outing to the Scottish Highlands, where it rained everyday. It was brilliant. Easy to set up. Very impressed with the size of the bedrooms, we unzipped the divider because the camp beds took up a bit of space and there was room to store most of our equipment under the beds. We didn't encounter the problems some people have had with zips. Excellent tent

Just come back from using this tent all I can say is Fantastic easy to put up and take down even for a novice like me. There are more than enough lines to tie the tent secure it is not going to move any where. Big enough living area maybe tight if you had five people I used it for the wife two dogs small and myself. Front opens to all three sides plenty of vents but it was really cold in the evenings so we had a bit of condensation inside the tent each day. Loads of clear windows letting in loads of light. Two bedrooms or one great big one if you like. I had the footprint and the carpet recommend these extras. If you are looking for a nice looking usable easy erect/take down 5 man tent then go for it.
