Fantastic tent, with lots of space. Really only sleeps 4 in sleeping area on airbeds. Would definitely recommend the carpet, footprint and porch as these really add to the comfort level. Tent is very heavy and not easy to put up at first, but with practice, it gets easier and quicker, though still takes us upto hour, this includes footprint, carpet and porch. Only negative is that there is really nowhere to hang lantern as poles on the outside. Just been away and had very strong winds on site, tent stood upto wind very well.

This is a fantastic tent, very sturdy, holidayed last year on Holy Island, Anglesey, right on a headland with 45mph gusts of wind with very heavy rain throughout one night this tent never moved an inch or leaked.
Bought the front extension this year another great piece of kit, makes a wonderful addition to the tent.
The video on you tube is a great help showing how to pitch it.

I can absolutely recommend this tent. There is plenty of room for sleeping and living for my husband and I and our two young boys (aged 4 and 6). The sleeping area on our 2009 model can be divided into two (which we'll do as the kids grow a bit) or can be set up as one really large sleeping area, so we all sleep in a row which is great if someone rolls off their bed in the night, or wakes up for the loo etc. I like that I can see the kids at all times in the night!
I can understand why people rave about the extension, because there is no undercover space for cooking in the rain, but we need to buy a trailer first before we can get one! Rather than buying a carpet which is quite expensive, we use picnic rugs which work well because you can put them just where you need them rather than having carpet all over (our boys just run in with muddy boots even when they know they should stop at the side porch and take them off!)
The tent has stayed put in torrential weather conditions, so I know I'm always pretty safe inside even when it's blowing a gale.
It does take practice to get it back in the bag! We make the kids roll on it first to get all the air out of it! Worth checking out the videos online for erecting it and folding it away before you give it a go. We can get ours up or down in about 45 mins just taking our time (with 'help' from the kids!)

Fantastic tent, plenty of room and holds out in all weathers ,takes a bit of getting used to trying to put it back in the bag, but overall a nice bit of kit. Last year we bought a second front extension, just add it on to your first front extension and you have much more room for equipment, cooking etc. Ground sheets under both extensions as well as something under tent is a must. The Montana 6 is well sort after and holds its price well, just check out e bay

We are new to family camping, so we looked hard at all the reviews.
Finding it around Xmas about £200, so its worth waiting. I wouldn't pay the full price for it. As the extras are very expensive. £130 carpet £90 solar shield.
It comes with 1 set of upright poles.
The Instructions are extremely basic, on a label sown inside the main tent so having a good look before you set it up the first time might be an advantage
We are a family of 3 so it was down to my wife and I, admittedly we had it up in the garden before the trip, and our trip had good weather.
So the 30 mins we had it up including the guys wasn't too bad, however in windy weather it might take longer. The tent tends to create a vacuum when raising the legs so make sure the doors and windows are vented allowing air to go in freely.
Enough room to keep your stuff out of the way, and sit comfortably. In hot weather being single skin it suffers a bit. But there is adequate ventilation from the doors.

We started camping last year and liked it so much we though we would upgrade our tent already and chose the Outwell Montana 6 2010 model. I did loads of research before buying this tent and asked loads of Monty owners at campsites last year what they thought of the tent. My husband named me his 'tent anorak' as I could virtually name every tent on a campsite.
We managed to do a deal with our local camp shop and got the tent, front canopy, carpet and footprint for £599.
We used the tent for the first time last weekend and I am really pleased with it. We had 2 days and 2 nights of solid rain, wind and freezing night temperatures but the tent held up great. We used an electric heater inside the tent but had no condensation anywhere and we were really warm and cozy.
Pitching was easy using the method advised by Cross Camping even in windy conditions. We got the main tent up within 20 mins. The most difficult part was putting the canopy up in the wind but we managed. Now we know how that goes up, it will be easier next time. The only thing I do not like is the pegs it's supplied with (the plastic type) but we already invested in the heavy duty corksrew type last year so didn't have to use them. We find the plastic ones supplied bend in the ground really easily.
We also took the middle bedroom divider down so that we could have just one big bedroom (only 2 of us). We have got the Outwell extra large campbeds which fit in the pods fine.
I have not marked the tent 10 out of 10 only for the peg reason and that you can get a draught from the bottom of the front door if you do not zip the fly screen up. I think I am going to try and stick some extra velcro round the bottom of the door to stop this. However, when the tent is fully shut up you dont get the draught.
My two brothers came with us camping with their tents but they both gave up on the second day, one because it was raining and they only have a tiny 3 man tent and the other one because they were cold in their tent. They all spent the Saturday before going home in our Monty playing games and chatting which was great, 7 of us in total. One of my brothers liked it so much he went out on the Monday and bought the Monty 6, Canopy, carpet and footprint for himself. Really love the tent and would recommend to anyone.

We traded a Idaho XL for a Monty 6 as it was just too big for us as the kids have got older & go their own way, the Monty is perfect, plenty of room for 2 & a lazy old dog without feeling like you are rattling around .
Once up & pegged out properly with Deltas on the main guys this tent is going nowhere, it is also extremely good in the rain, within 20 minutes of a down pour it was dry enough to take down & pack.
The newer models have a better design for the side entrance with a square frame but the candy stripe sleeping pods are dreadful.
With the divider removed making one sleeping area it will easily take a queen sized raised air bed with plenty of room to move round & store clothes at one end.
If I could make an improvement it would be a cable entry on the other side as well.
The front zips can be a bit of a problem with the sloping front for people with restricted movement but I suppose thats true with most tents, we both have bad legs & thats the only reason I marked it 9 out of 10.
This is an excellent tent of proven quality & should last for years of reliable use.

We bought this tent in March and christened last weekend, having had a practice pitch in the garden before which is well worthwhile.
Very straightforward to put up particularly after a practice and perfectly sized for us and our two children. We also bought the front extension, which is well worthwhile and provides an excellent area to store outside items at night and also sit under for meals, shade etc. The carpet is a good idea too as keeps the floor level warm and takes away the rough underfeel from the ground.
We did purchase the footprint, but have not yet used as our campsite provided us with a free padded ground cover to protect our tent.
Packing away was certainly a challenge the first time, taking us twice as long as it did to put the tent up!
However, take a look on YouTube and there are several videos showing you how it should be done, copied one of those and easy peasy, straight in the bag!
Would definitely recommended, suits our family of 4 perfectly and withstood high temperatures during the day of 32c and the lows of 6c at night. Also withstood a night of heavy wind and rain - typical April weather!

I can't praise the Montana 6 enough! We have had this tent for nearly 2 years now, its been through some of the worse weather going, major storms, rain, hail, high winds, and we have never had a leak or problem at all.
We use this tent for 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 teenagers and there is plenty of room, I would say a 4 person tent comfortably. The living area is lovely and big, we can easily fit in 2 kitchen units, table and 4 chairs and still room for bags etc.
I love having so many windows, with covers as well which is great and night to put them down and have privacy, and open them in the morning. Also the face the windows open is great, and the mesh window covers so you can get a nice breeze in, but keeping the bugs out, and again for a little privacy.
My husband and I can now put this tent up quite quickly, although it took us a good few camping trips to get it down to a fine art, and the tent always fits back into the bag afterwards.
The porch is a life saver, if its raining we come in that way, dirty shoes and wet coats can be taken off in here without getting the tent wet.
We brought the Montana 6 extension which adds loads more room to the tent, and gives cover at the front, ideal for cooking under in bad weather. Also we bought the extra ground sheet and carpet, luxury!
The Montana 6 is a fantastic family tent, that will last for years and years!

Wonderful tent in both hot weather (Southern France) and the worst N Cornwall can throw at it. Would agree with other comments about the velcro fastening to the base of the 'front door' - it does let in rather a gale when a strong Atlantic gale is blowing, the 'sun' canopy in such circumstances is a godsend! We spent 2 wet&windy weeks in Cornwall (early Summer 2009) and saw many other campers give up and go home due to leaking or torn tents whilst we were dry secure - the size of the living area meant we had space to play and eat in comfort. Would recommend the outwell fan heater for such circumstances too! The design of the tent is very well thought out - the side entrance area is vital in poor weather for any number of purposes (storage, wet items, toilet/potty, additional ventilation). If camping in UK I would recommend the front extension rather than the sun canopy due to the additional wind/rain protection that affords. Footprint and carpet are a must too - for both cold and hot weathers (great insulation).
