We have had a few tents over the last couple of years but this great little tent is probably our favourite; not too tricky to put up/down, even on my own. The living space area is lovely and large with a good sized window one side, but could do with another window in the side or front door. If bad weather forces you inside, it can feel a bit claustrophobic.

Two negatives that I can see with our model, the shape of the side door means that if it's raining and you undo the zip, you can get water dripping (and pouring!) onto the groundsheet. I've noticed that a few similar models from other companies now have a small porch to protect the side door which would be perfect for this tent.

The main downside is the size of the sleeping compartment - five adults would be a real push! We are two adults, one of whom is 6ft4 and has to sleep with his feet sticking out of the doorway - plus a small child so he has lots of room but, if you're using a double and a single airbed there's not much space for bags and when the labrador comes too, it's very cosy in there! We have considered changing to a 600 just to get more bedroom space. Also, as other reviewers have said, no mesh on the front door.

Having a sewn-in groundsheet is great and we have the footprint too which also helps to work out where it all goes for pegging out. Tempted to go for the carpet too but maybe that's a bit too decadent!

We have considered the sun canopy and/or extension but when we looked at attaching them, even the tent shop struggled to make either fit nicely without pulling down on the front poles.

This review sounds more negative than positive but I'm just trying to point out a few things that would make this tent better than it already is. We are extremely happy with it.

This is our second tent and we love it. I agree with others that you could probably only fit 3 in comfortably and it does need extra guy ropes in the centre front and back to give it a little more steadiness in bad weather, but overall an excellent tent, easy for 2 to erect and in our experience totally weather proof.Would recommend to others.

I've had a number of trips in this tent which I bought specifically as a weekend tent which I'd be erecting on my own, I agree with most of the other positive comments but I've chosen to add my negatives as I feel it's important to strike the balance.

I find this tent difficult to erect alone and so need to highlight that some degree of strength is needed to anchor the poles into the pins and then physical height and strength is needed to stand the tent up.

This tent (in my experience) does not do well in gusts of strong wind, I've suffered many a broken/shattered pole which have almost ruined a number of my trips.

The main problem I find is that there are no central guy ropes on the front of back pole loop, therefore nothing to stop the tent folding right in on itself in high winds.

There really needs to be an internal fly screen on the main door.

I find that you can really only comfortably fit 3 people in the tent, anything more and it starts to get quite cramped

Our first outing with this tent was a windy and rainy weekend. We were very pleased with the performance. My wife and I (aged 54.) returned to camping after 20 years or so. We were impressed with space in this tent and had no probs pitching and taking it down. Stood up to the elements very well. Excellent!

Just got mine yesterday and very impressed , put it up in garden today [AND got it cheaper than the stated £150] ours was £136 WITH delivery], very easy to put up /down. Seen one of these 3 weeks ago at Oban in Scotland the owners showed me inside and were also impressed with the vango icarus 500 ,very warm tent cant wait to properly test it next week.As this tent is much lighter than our older 4 man [the icarus is a 5 but we going to use it as a 4 or even 2 with plenty space] vango have produced another tent with a great price tag.

Littiemiss I am sure you would easy fit you air beds in we have just used ours for the first time with 3 adults one very tall daughter and we had tons of room. This was my first time of use and would recommend it to anyone, although we did have some quite strong gusts of wind and the front pole did bend in a way, that was the only down side to the tent we love it. I would how ever never take there word for the sleeping room they say 5 I would say max 4, unless of course you can live out of the car you would be tight for storage.

A top quality family tent. We have purchased the canopy, and the carpet.

With the canopy it provides plenty of room for 2A+2C and 1 dog.

Used it over the weekend ans we had very heavy rain, the tent didnt leak, and didnt have a problem with the very windy conditions.

All in all an excellent tent.

Our very first tent, easy to put up, took 45 minutes to put up together! Very roomy inside for just the 2 of us, love the storage pockets in the sleeping area and the handy pockets in the living area. Would like to buy the canopy for even more room and maybe to carpet for a bit of luxury.

Tent stood up the wind very well, and found using the side door much better to use for speed, when it rained. Good air vent on side door too and good window for extra light. We are very happy with the tent and would recommend it to anyone.

Bit of a squeeze for five people with all the kit but other than that a good sized and roomy tent. There is a criticism though in that the two times I have used it in the six weeks since purchase a section of the pole has shattered on each occasion needing repair, and this was during putting up the tent. While the repair is easy enough to do, after purchasing new pole sections, Vango should have given more thought to this problem, and as they and the retailer state that the poles are not covered by warranty, should at least supply one spare in the initial purchase. Another idea would be to have another entrance on the the other side. Do not be put off though a good tent, for the price, just be careful putting it up and look out for strong gusts of wind.

Brought this tent last week from go out doors in the sale , we used it for the first time at the weekend. Really nice tent for the money. Easy to put up and take down , was even able to get it back in the bag. They say it sleeps 5 but thats no way , I had 3 single air beds in and I am not sure if there would be room for 4 single air beds. Does any one else have this problem only I am planing to take 2 adults and 2 children with me next time. Can you sleep four people in this tent and how .
