4 Reviews of the 4m Deluxe
By: SteppieBristol Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2010 Rating:
We love our Bell Tent and would never go back to the nylon type. It's so easy to put up and so spacious inside - a bit like the tardis.
I also like that we can cook inside on our Trangia (remembering to put it on a heat proof surface having previously melted a hole in a groundsheet in another tent!).
As others have said its very quick and easy to put up - takes two of us about ten minutes but one person could easily do it alone. It does take a bit longer to pack away as you need to make sure the bottom is clean and dry. I'd recommend getting a tarpaulin to put underneath (which would also protect from rocky ground.
We have tended to accumulate accessories, especially rugs and cushions, for added comfort. We also bought the awning which has taken a long while to get the hang of but is very useful in hot weather.
We've seen other makes of Bell Tent and are very happy with the choice we made.

This is a gorgeous 4m zipped ground sheet bell tent. The centre pole is about 2.5m tall so one does not have to crouch all the time. Great for getting dressed in the morning.
First time out for the tent was a cool October weekend.
I am about 5'5' and got the tent up by myself, easy peasy.
It is quite heavy though (this is a Pukka Tent with heavier weight cotton)
The cotton means it breathes, and when waking up in the morning every morning is cheerful, despite the weather outside.
Plenty of room, very cosy. I do own a 25year old Lichfield ridge tent which is also awesome, BUT I cannot erect that on my own so I bought this Bell Tent which I can put up.
She is a real beauty.

Had my 4m built in ground sheet for about 3 years now and it is great.Just used it again for a few nights all to myself as we now have little terrier so he seemed to settle ok (kids were in their own pop up tent.) I have the inner for this which I have used but I love the whole space of the tent. I use blow up sleeping mats and the tent can hold three chairs and a table with room to navigate round. We tend to eat outdoors though so the ideal set up is to use our separate kitchen tent for cooking. The bell tent is great for cooler weather but be aware the height of it and all that space means it can get pretty cool in there at night unlike other tents with inners. It's heavy - I now have a folding trolley for it (£23 from Amazon) and it is fine for me to put up alone. Hope that helps any mums who are planning to buy and use if with little (or big) kids.

Had a standard belltent for some years now, and it's a brilliant investment for those camping trips and festival weeks where a nylon smaller tent just doesn't cut it.
I can put this up by myself, and I'm just 5'3', and have done so in windy conditions with no major issues. The main pole being split in 2 helps with carriage, but with the weight and bulk of it, even when packed as tight as you can, it really isn't a tent for 1 person to try to carry any distance at all. Certainly is a 'car' tent rather than a motorbike tent.
The dogs found the cosy indoors feel, with the gentle waving of the sides, much more settling than the flappy nylon sides of other tents we've had.
Plenty of room in this one spacious area - with careful thought you can get 2 double lilos in, and dog beds, and still have an area available for standing up, dressing, and all the cooking equipment.
I understand that later versions of this tent have been fitted with attachment points for inners and lights etc - we've just muddled through and made our own as we went along, using tie-wraps and jubilee clips - all good fun and makes the tent completely unique and personal. Some folk have also been able to show off their artistic talents and painted the walls - beautiful, and you couldn't do that with a nylon!
Have found in some particularly windy and stormy weathers that I've been forced out of bed to go outside and re-hammer the pegs into the ground, but I've never been worried about anything going sailing off into the night, and this tent has surprised some folk by remaining unscathed when others' smaller abodes have gone sailing over into the next field.
A super tent for more lengthy camps where more room is needed for living in.

Manufacturer's Description
The difference between the 4 metre Standard and the 4 metre Deluxe is that you get the added waterproof resistance of the ground sheet being permanently connected to the tent walls, however you do lose the ability to roll the sides up on hot days. The Deluxe ground sheet is also a lot thicker (PVC 540 g/m²) and heavier (hence the Deluxe weighing 8.5 kg more!).
Features:
Lightweight but strong 285 g/m²) high quality cotton canvas (think of new denim jeans thickness) Weighs 25kg (This is a serious bit of kit so you don't want to be carrying it too far.) New for 2009 all our Bell Tents have all the loops and attachments to fit one of our inner tents should you decide you want to add one. This is unique to Bell Tent UK and other bell tents don't have these fittings. Has a metal hoop on central pole, great for hanging things from. All packs down into matching canvas bag small enough to go on the back of a Smart Car. (approx 95cm - 35cm - 35cm) Fabulous Colour (no bright white nightmares) giving a warm and gentle vide inside Material is treated to be water, UV and mould resistant for up to 60 weeks constant use. ( you can then re-proof the tent at a cost of around £15) A frame covered Entrance. Unlike some bell tents this has an A frame entrance which creates a porch to stop the rain coming in. Takes two people around nine minutes to erect (OK it took us four goes to get it that fast!) Can be erected by one person in around 13 minutes Heavy Duty Waterproof Integral ground sheet that comes up the side creating a waterproof "bath". Beautifully made using quality materials Unzip able windows / air vents complete with mosquito nets Heavy Duty Zipped front door for fast access Door can be "locked" by padlocking the three door zips together Can be fitted with the Bell Tent Stove
