I am basing this review purely on setting the tent up. My initial thoughts when first seeing our new purchase was on the size of the tent package.She's a whopper!
We was taken back by it's weight too, I'm a big bloke but can only manage to move this short distances before collapsing and hyperventilating.A little exaggeration but you honestly need TWO people to realistically move this tent from car/trailer to pitch.
There onwards the Fily Air comes into its own, I used an electric pump to three quarter fill the tent beams before switching to the included manual pump to finish the job off.Very simple and much less hassle than using tent poles. It took more time to guy the tent out than it did to lay out the footprint sheet and pump her up.Very happy.
Once she was up and guyed out it was clear to us we had made a great choice, she is huge,sturdy and has plenty of room inside for a family holiday. Loads of ventilation for those hot days which can also be zipped up for poorer weather conditions making a huge tent feel quite snug inside.
The zips do tend to snag a bit on the waterproofing material but wasn't really a big problem.Just a niggle.
As others have said, the front porch area Windows have no privacy curtains.But for us,it's just a handy area to have all the cooking gear stored with shoes,boots and any other spare camping equipment which leaves the living area feeling nice and spacious.So,personally speaking.Not a problem.
The main downside to the tent is the packing away.Purely due to her shear size. Deflation is quick and painless, just simply follow the clear instructions provided. It's the whole 'rolling the tent up' which can be a strain on the knees and back.To get her back in the bag provided, it's best to roll her up once to get the surplus air out of the tent.Unroll and then re-roll her up again to get her in the bag. I wouldn't fancy doing that in the rain due to the size but that's the gamble with camping anyway.
All in all the Kampa Filey 6 Air is a great family holiday tent that's big in every way possible,plenty of room,plenty of storage,big sleeping/living area's and very sturdy once up.A great tent.

First time we used our new tent was the worst weather, four days and nights of torrential rain with no let up.The kampa filey 6 air did not let us down. This tent is solid as rock, it didnt move in the wind or let even one drop of water in(plenty under the tent though)we were snug and warm and felt very safe.
Tent went up in five minutes then about fifteen to peg out and ropes etc. Getting down took longer as it was muddy underneath. I was upset and worried the new tent would be ruined by the rain from the ground. We took it home and put it up but there was barely a mark on it, it just seemed to shrug off any dirt. Five minute wipe of the front flap and its good to go again. I would camp anywhere with this tent. No noise from the fly sheet flapping or poles bending.Worth every penny.
Its a big and heavy tent , don't underestimate this when buying it takes two people to lift in into the car, my husband put it up by himself. Taking down in just a case of turn the valves and its down , roll it up unroll and roll again to get the air out. The only niggle is there is no sewn in groundsheet for the porch and the one they make to put in is a little tricky to figure out but once we got the hang of it we were fine.
The best bit for me is the little anex at the side , very useful for childrens dunny runs in the night , beats trecking over a field in the night. The front porch zip could do with some more design work as it snagged a lot but a small problem really.

We had a Vango eclipse air beam which cost the same money as the filey. We had many issues with the Vango and took it back and exchanged it for the filey. The filey is in a different league quality wise, much easier put up having just one inlet valve to pump compared to Vango having 5 or 6, and canopy is all attached. Whereas the Vango and other air beam types you often see people pitching the main tent in under 30 mins the. Spending twice that time putting on a canopy which in Vangos case, then leaked.
With filey you get an extra side room for toilet or bags, proper size bedrooms ( we are 2 adults, 2 small kids). The filey was rock solid, zero flapping.
Only two negative points are , we had one very small bit of leakage as per jay.R 70' but this was just on one small area and the front entrance zip can get caught on the weatherproof transparent flap. Overall we think it is brilliant. Oh it is a big bag but probably because of the quality of the material.

Just returned from our first trip with the Kampa Filey Air 6. I'm afraid it's good and bad news;
The tent is amazing, the material is rustle free, we didn't expect the 150D material to make such a difference over the 75D, even in moderate winds over the weekend, infact it was other tents that kept us awake as we had no background noise from ours. Putting it up and taking it down is unbelievably easy, we used the hand pump and had it up in about 4 or 5 minutes which everyone was commenting on, it's down in less than a minute! We had no problems getting it back in the bag, rolled it up, then unrolled it and rolled it up again.
This tent is huge when its in its bag and very heavy.
It rained Saturday and Sunday and we had water come in at various points mostly along the seam for the outside skirting where the ground sheet is sewn in as there appeared to be no tape or seam seal all the way around the tent so we ended up with most of our air beams sitting in their own little pools of water, we also had water ingress at the beam next to the storage pod where it stitches on to the main body of the tent about half way up.
We are now waiting to hear from Outdoor Megastore where we purchased the tent. Will add another comment to let you all know how we get on.

We have just returned from a two night camping trip in our new Kampa Filey 6 Air Tent and I can honestly say we were not disappointed. We previously had an Outwell Montana 6 and we loved it, it's served us well over the last 4 years. However, my husband hated putting the tent up after driving for 6 hours - the Filey 6 has taken the stress out of our trips. There are a few bits that I think Kampa can improve on but I think that's me being picky as I've been spoilt by the Outwell! Just a couple of the things are: the curtains on the living area - once opened the fly mesh is exposed so if it's windy it will get chilly in the tent. Another is the toggles to hold windows and doors up/open would be better if they were elasticated. The carpet could be better quality - when you consider the cost of the tent a nicer carpet wouldn't go amiss? Like I said they are minor things that if we hadn't had the Outwell we probably wouldn't have even noticed.
Lastly, when choosing to buy a tent I would strongly recommend you research the place you are buying your tent from as well as the tent itself! I had read on here many reviews for different tents and the one Camping shop that kept cropping up was CROSS CAMPING. I found their website and their MD Gary Cross is a great guy - happy to give advice! We had a fault with the front panel of the tent but we've had no problem sorting it with Gary. He's arranged for a new panel to be delivered tomorrow and also collect the faulty one at the same time! What a guy! Thank you so much Gary for your help, advice and also prompt replies to the many emails I've sent to you?
Can't wait for our next trip! :-)

Bought this tent from the outdoor megastore but when it arrived the box had been battered quite a lot and the pump had no guage as stated spoke to outdoor megastore and they were keen to sort it I was also concerened it was not new, I facebooked Kampa on a saturday at 7pm about my concerns and they immediately replied now thats customer service! Any way to cut a long story we kept the tent after assurances from the kind Kampa blokey and went away to St ives bay in Hayle Cornwall for a week at easter.
This tent is a large beast it fitted into half of the boot of my renault scenic grand dynamique I had to buy roof bars to get the rest of my gear in the car, pitching was very easy we bought an electric pump from cross camping and it went up in about 3 mins pegging out took a further 30 you can now see why the bag in its folded state is so big this tent is a quality fabric and construction, Im not going to go into war and peace about its features most of which have been covered previously.
I have given it 9 out of ten for two reasons the first is an inflated roof support leaked form the moment of its first pitch I did however isolate this and even though the tent had a part deflated it stayed rock solid in the weather we had, kampa and outdoor megastore are now dealing with this, and the second issue is the zips on the front porch which kept snagging for the majority of our stay it was a pain to need a pee at 3am and not be able to get out. That said Im most happy with the filey and reccomend it to anyone if your looking for an inflateable tent this looks the best on the current market.

We have only just bought this tent, and used a sports hall to have a trial 'inflation', first impressions very good, very easy to erect (ever so easy with no wind!) and lots of well thought out features. However the only disappointment is the bag. Considering you are spending the thick end of £1500 to purchase this tent, it looks like Kampa have spent £5 on the bag. Way too small once the tent has been used and with no devices (wheels, tensioning straps etc) to make the manual handling easier! Come on Kampa we know you can do better.Anyone with an alternative bag solution?

My wife and myself are new to camping this is our first tent and a rather expensive gamble as we didn’t know haw we would take to the whole camping experience, we have always done caravans or B&Bs. We like our comfort and plenty of room so after taking advise from a few friends and our daughter it was obvious the only way forward was with a large family tent.
Having helped our daughter and partner erect their medium size tent on our garden, we immediately realised that a large pole tent was not an option for just the two of us. I really didn’t fancy putting one up on our own and especially not in windy conditions.
A bit disheartened we almost dropped the idea but then discovered Vango Airbeams, came close to buying one but got cold feet and ended the year without buying. So glad we did because early this year 2013 we found the new Outwell and Kampa airbeams.
After a lot of looking and thought we chose the Filey 6 Air, my wife is asthmatic and a little chlostrophobic, the open and spacious feel of the filey made it the only choice, the toilet pod on the side is a bonus. The fabric quality the large windows and three-section design make this a real luxury tent.
After three practice runs we went for our first long weekend in the tent, the weather forecast was terrible, heavy rain and gale force winds. They weren’t wrong we had the lot, but the tent stood up to it no problem we were very impressed, yes the tent moved with the wind but so did the pole tent pitched next to us.
Pitching is so easy, it took twelve minutes to lay the footprint, peg out the tent corners and inflate using the electric pump, its expensive but well worth it we have tried the hand pump, its hard work and not recommended for anyone with a back problem like myself.
In my view the most impressive attribute of the filey is that it is entirely self supporting, when inflated it pops up and stands completely unaided even in windy conditions. Taking down is even easier, simply open the eight roof valves and then the five deflation valves at the base of each beam, by the time you’ve done that the tent is already starting to fall. Rolling the tent is a bit of a pain but that applies to any large tent, we leave all doors and windows part open to allow air to escape. I roll it up three times to get it to an acceptable size but still the whole process from start to finish including footprint the loose ground sheet and packing into the car only took twenty minutes.
Conclusion: this is a first class tent it takes nearly all the work and hassles out of camping, highly recommended.
Bad points: not many but cant understand why Kampa put rain canopies over the windows and not over the doors, the large front door in particular would benefit from some overhead protection, especially if you use the provided ground sheet as it protrudes nearly a meter past the roof opening.
Also there are no curtains in the front canopy area, I have seen much cheaper Kampa tents that do have them in the canopy, why is that?
When rolled and packed into the bag, it is huge, we found it impossible to get it down to the size quoted by Kampa, very misleading, it dam near fills the boot of our Mondeo. Also considering the cost of the tent the bag quality is pitiful, Kampa should take a look at the Vango bags as they put their own to shame.

We brought this tent as liked the idea of an air inflated tent that will take 5 min to put up. Especially with a 4 month old an 8 and a 12 yr old to keep entertained. So far we have put the tent up twice, once as a practice using the hand pump (exhausting if you have forgotten to shut off one of the valves and spend ages pumping for nothing) Then for camping for 2 nights and using an electric pump. When we first put the tent up the beds and inside sheet were already installed in place which was good. The instructions are easy to read however we had looked it up on you tube first anyway. The tent pegs are not anything special considering the price we paid for the tent so its worth investing in some decent ones. We also brought the footprint which is definitely worth getting as at least if its damp when you take the tent down you havent got to worry about taking the tent back out to dry out just the footprint. The tent itself went up within 5 min but it took an additional 45 min to peg it all out. It definitely gets everyones attention when you pitch up at the campsite. The tent is also very stable and spacious. Although it is meant to be a 6 man tent there is plenty of space for more. We went camping with 4 adults and 3 children including a baby who had their own travel cot inside as well. My brother and his 2 children slept in one of the rooms, I slept in the other with my son in his travel cot and my parents slept in the main compartment and there was still plenty of space.
The down sides - It does require at least 2 people to pack in away and you do seem to need to squeeze some of the air out at the end. The door between the middle and the porch personally I think should have the option to fully zip off for when it is hot. The zippers on the front door are constantly getting jammed and stuck on the seams of the material and also the plastic waterproof covering. This can get pretty annoying. It is very heavy to carry and the carry bag does not come with wheels attached.
I recommend - Getting yourself another holdall that you can then store the porch groundsheet, the poles (for windows) , the pegs, the pump and the footprint in as it will reduce the weight from the main bag to make it slightly more manageable.
Note - Always make sure you have the outside valves all closed before trying to pump it up.

This tent was brought in June first trip 2 weeks in July in Cornwall and needed re-pumping twice after sagging our second trip 4 nights over August bank holiday was a complete disaster .Front porch air pipe leaking and two leaks on the outside let-down valves and a zip broke, We have looked after this tent with great care after paying a lot of money for it we now seem to have a fight on our hands with camping world for a full refund .If you own a filey air 6 pleased be warned the valves and piping are not has strong has they say, use it once pack it away and next time you use it your guarantee has run out .Further when we brought this tent a irate couple where arguing for their money back on the same tent the sales person assured me it was one off rare problem the tent was virtually indestructible
