This was the first tent we had. It was ok to put up if the weather was ok but when we tried to do it in a gale we found it very difficult. It is very heavy but once up it has plenty of room inside. The problem with it having a separate ground sheet was that the bugs, wind, rain and mud came in, luckily it has separate sleeping areas so this was not a problem when we were in bed. I also agree with the tension in the doors, we just thought being first timers we were putting it up wrong.

I agree with all of the other comments about the great size and versatility of this tent. Having read comments about the front guylines causing problems with the front door, on my last camping trip I pointed the lines inwards and had no problems at all with the door. The front panel could do with a few more pegging points and it would be nice to have the choice of 2 side doors instead of just one, but on the whole a fantastic tent for our family of 4. I would recommend this tent to anyone particularly at some of the prices available on the web, also I would get this over the 5 berth version as there is very little cost difference.

I got this tent at the beginning of 2007 for £50 from ebay, yes a real bargain, I had to drive from Brighton to Peterborough to pick it up though!
I've camped in it 4 times so far this year and love it, it has a very spacious living area and the bedrooms are a good size although more suited to 2 per room rather than 3. As I get mine to myself I have plenty of room. Agree with what has been said regarding the front door, sometimes very difficult to get the zip done up. Sad to say I'll be getting rid of mine at the end of the summer and its far too big for me and my daughter, my friends always have to help me put it up, impossible for me to do on my own, I'm not even tall enough to hang the bedrooms!

Hi I have had 1 of these since 2005 we have used it 1 or even twice a year since it is great plenty of space for us (2 adults & 3 kids) the front door is a bit of a pain but we just loosen the guides. There is plenty of room my husband is 6ft 4 and has no problem in it.
Fantastic buy we love it

This tent is probably the largest tent in the smallest pack size that you can get. It has coped admirably with the great amount of wind and rain. It does have a flaw that over tightening of the front guys can lead to stressing the door zip. Some of the stitching is a little dubious compared to other known brands that I have owned. That said it has not let me down, just invest in some longer Heavy duty tent pegs.

Just returned from my first camping adventure in this tent. Was 6 of us (7 including the dog) 2 adults and 4 teenagers. Plenty of living space, but a bit cramped sleeping wise. As per other reviews the front doorway was a bit of a bugger to get right and we had to adjust it on the second day after quite high winds. Although I don't know whether it was the winds or the fact that the pitch was on a slope! Took quite a while for us to set it up. Also bought the sun canopy and windbreak. Must say I prefer the old fashioned windbreak with the points at the end where you have to whack them in the ground - too many guide ropes, what with the tent, canopy and windbreak guide ropes. Also the canopy kept slipping from over the edge of the tent, would of been better if it somehow zipped onto the tent. However, it did come in handy for protection from the rain when entering the tent! All in all impressed with the tent for the price paid, it withstood the wind and the rain.

Bought this tent in 2005 for a family of four and have used it every year since without problems in some good, but mostly pretty terrible weather conditions.
On the plus-side: large living space with good headroom right across it, decently thick poles and a reasonably proportioned arc which means it stands up well in a strong wind, the ability to move the front panel back to create a porch and, most of all, the fact of it having a properly vertical front door panel - a key wet weather feature which seems to have completely bypassed many modern tent designers. Apart from allowing you to put a cooker insode the front door, it also means you don't have to completely close the door to prevent a flood in the tent when it rains.
Though some say otherwise, this tent can be pitched by one person, but you wouldn't want to try it in anything less than good weather and, even with two, you need to be fairly organised. Having said that, it compares pretty well with similar-sized Outwells.
On the down-side: tension on the front door can be a problem, but this can be avoided by pitching the front guy ropes inward towards the centre. And it would be handy to have a quarter turn screw connection on the main poles to allow them to be pulled, rather than needing to be pushed, through the sleeves.
On balance: A good, big and tough family tent for a longer stay - I've been around a lot of displays and sites since buying this tent, but I've yet to see one I would rather own.

Fab tent, loads of living space and good sized bedroom pods too. Ours is the 4/2 split in the bedroom pods, fitted 2 adults and 3 children in easily, 6 would be pos, but it would be cosy!
Getting quicker pitching each time - have now got the knack to threading the poles! Still haven't quite got the pitching right to make sure front door opens easily without stressing the fabric, but getting better.
Stood up to the storms in August last year - I got out to check several times one night as the weather was so awful, but everything was fine, ours was one of the few tents that were still the same shape in the morning! Some condensation, but then the weather was warm and wet, so not surprising really.
At around £200 including canopy and windbreaks it was/is great value.

I was lucky enough to buy this tent second hand from the local rag for just £75! It had only been used a couple of times and was like new.
It comes in a big bag, which opens out into three compartments, 1 for groundsheet and inners, 1 for flysheet and 1 for all the poles ( also comes complete with repair kit, which we have not had to use!)
On our first attempt to pitch the tent, it took us around an hour and a half due to it being a really windy day, otherwise it takes us around 40 minutes, as its easy to pitch, despite being of monstrous proportions!
This tent is huge! It has a bedroom configuration of 4+2, but with the use of the supplied divider sheet, can be made into 3x2.
There is a large living area and has the added bonus of being able to move the front panel inwards, to create a porch area for cooking, ect. It is light and airey with plenty of large windows. I would recommend this tent as it is great value for money and a good family tent.

Excellent tent. Used it for the first time in May 2008.We were concerned that we had not managed to find the time to erect the tent prior to going on holiday to try it out but needn't have worried. We erected it (2 of us) in just over an hour without any problems. Our only difficulty was feeding the long poles through the outer but practice will make perfect. Was very stable and plenty of room inside. As others have said you have to be careful about how you peg the front guy ropes. These should point forwards not to the side so the door zips easily. We had no real problem with condensation either which surprised us. There were a couple of drips off the steel inner poles in the early hours of the morning but nothing to write home about. That reminds me, you have to be careful to remember to remove the steel poles on the inside before collapsing the tent. We learned the hard way.Didn't get the chance to try it in the rain but we never had a leak problem with our last Gelert tent (Cadiz 4+2) Can certainly recommend the LV6 to others.
