We just purchased this porch to go with our new Kalahari 8 tent and we were very impressed with it had slight leakage issues where it fits the sides of the tent but nothing major. It was a bit awkward getting the straps over the roof but nothing too serious. Could have been better if I had a fitted ground sheet but it only cost £4.00 for one to fit it.Glad we purchased it.

Just used our porch for first time this weekend it is a great addition to tent for extra space its down falls are that it fits poorly to tent allowing rain through sides and up under flap that goes over tent roof in bad rain could be better with a toggle system to attach it but overall a good addition

Have just returned from a trip using our porch for the first time and we really enjoyed the extra space. It made a huge difference as we were able to put the cooker in the porch which meant the children were away from it and we didn't have to watch them every second!

The only downside is that it doesn't fit the tent well. There are gaps to the sides and it pulls the roof of the tent down. Think we will take advice from the others here and lengthen the straps! Having said that it coped very well with strong winds and stayed put and kept our bits inside dry when it was pelting down with rain! Certainly worth the money - especially as we got it on offer!

After reading a review earlier this month and sending another one in, we have now been on holiday with the porch I added extra long straps and this made it so easy to put the porch up, it did not pull the tent down and was so easy to put back up in the middle of the night when the wind blew one of the straps off, no struggling to find the strap my poor Husband, in the pouring down rain simply walked round the side of the tent with strap and retied it. It and the tent stood up to very strong winds and rain that night and although we had a couple of leaks in the main tent( it needs to be reproofed) the porch was bone dry, we are all looking forward to the next break.Another tip which we picked up was the grey floor tiles, we used these and they saved a lot of mud coming into the tent thanks a lot for the tip Bread boy!

Thanks for the tip on the straps, it would make sense to have them longer,I am quite short and trying to reach them putting the porch up was a bit tricky, also we had a few puddles on the roof when it rained, when we reproof the tent we are making sure the roof is well covered. But there is so much more room with porch added on, plenty of space for the dog and the husband if he snores too much!

The Kalahari porch is very handy, and arguably a must have if you have either the Kalahari 8 or 10. In our porch we had one of those 4 seater fold out tables on one side, and the cooker on the other up on a folding aluminium table. Then in between all that a double row of 50cm locking floor tiles. So it adds a lot of room to your tent.

There are two downsides to the porch though:

1). The windows don't open. It's just a plastic window with no zip. Even though you can have the front door open, or zip the entire front off, it still gets hot if the sun is beating in. It would be nice to have the option of unzipping the windows each side and having a mesh there to let a bit of air in.

2). The major flaw for me is the porch roof straps. Two straps that go over the roof of the tent to secure it - these straps pull the roof of the tent down by about a foot if you want it tight enough to hold it properly, which created small puddles of water on the tent roof when it rained. It didn't leak but it's still not good - if they made the straps longer (which I intend to do myself anyway) then it wouldn't need to pull the roof down so much as you could peg it further from the tent on the other side.

But overall it's a fantastic addition to the tent and helps keep the tent clear.

We've just brought a Kalahari 8 and a Porch. We had a test pitch this week in preparation for our trip next week. I would always recommend checking a new tent, because we found a couple of small tears in the Kalahari Porch.

So it was back to Go Outdoors for an exchange, and the staff member said that a few Porches had been returned with tears in the fabric.

Moral of the story: if you've just purchased a Kalahari Porch, check it before you use it!

Brilliant for extra space, we use ours for cooking in and as a bedroom for the dog at night. Its a pain to put up first time round (even harder if you spend 10 mins trying to do it inside out like me) but once you get the hang of it its quite straight forward. My only criticism is that it could do with an attachment to the tent, maybe some toggles/buttons or a zip etc, but it does what you need and it does it well. Keep you eye on go outdoors as they keep having this half price for £70, a bargain!

I bought the Kalahari porch a little while after the tent so is a different colour blue but a small price to pay as the porch gives you so much more space I use it to do all the cooking in using the other door in the tent for going in and out which meant the children didn't have to walk past the cooker. A must for any camping family.

We actually bought the Hi Gear Zenobia tent and the porch but found they had put this Kalahari porch in the Zenobia bag. Discovered this when trying to pitch our porch onto the Zenobia tent had a few probs at 1st but soon got it anchored. It covers the window up but not a prob overall as the roomy porch allowed us to dry clothes towels etc on the wet days. Better we think because of the extra space we were able to keep two children and a huge German shep dog under cover.A great success.
