We've just come back from our 5th trip with this tent. We use it for a family of five (children aged 7, 9 and 11) and having bought the porch as well after our first trip find it spacious enough. It withstood high winds and a lot of rain in a week in Wales last year and (touch wood) has never leaked despite a few rainy trips. We had a pole section break once in high winds when taking it down but it was easily and cheaply replaced. Easy to put up and take down, probably takes 20 mins max. For the price we paid (£ 149.99) excellent value.

Have mainly used Vango tents up to now but needed something bigger with a lower price tag, so we opted for the Zenobia 6. Very pleasantly surprised. Just done 10 nights at Cardigan Bay with some very heavy rain and dizzyingly strong winds (worst we ever experienced). Stood up very well. One slight ooze from a seam was the worst we had and the poles took the strain really well. Only complaint is the windows open from the outside, so if its raining you get wet or sit in the dark,

Initially I would have given this tent a very good review. As a newbie to camping we chose it because there was plenty of space for us plus a 7 year old and there was a good sized living area inside for the likely event it rained while we were away. We did buy it though with the view to adding the porch to it so we had outside space for cooking and also for storing the bikes. We found the tent itself relatively easy to pitch and despite reading reviews about poles snapping and seams leaking we had none of these problems on our first outing. In fact we had extreme wind and rain that weekend and for a cheaper tent we were pleased with the way it held up to the conditions.

However. The complete let down was the porch. After trying 3 different ones from Go Outdoors we found that the re-designed 2013 porch is extremely badly designed and this has even been confirmed by the staff at GO Manchester who ended up pitching several in the store with us to see if we could find one without the problems. Understandably there is supposed to be a gap round the bottom of the porch, however, we found that one of the connectors on the bottom is too short (and non-adjustable) so even on flat ground there is a 1' gap one side but a good 10' gap the other. And this means that the porch itself doesn't sit centrally on its poles and pulls all the seams (which were beginning to fail even after having it up for 10mins). The staff at GO did say that the porch was manufactured by three different suppliers this year and we tested porches from two out of the three and although the problem was less with one, it was still bad. In the end, we swapped the whole package (tent, footprint, carpet and porch) for a Vango.

Overall, I'd say if you weren't looking for a porch then the Zenobia is a cracking tent and I would definitely recommend it. If we hadn't found the problems with the porch we would have been very happy with it and I'm still a little sad we couldn't find one that was ok so we could keep it. Obviously, if the porch is important to you then I would definitely steer clear of this model for now until they get these problems sorted out.

Initially I would have given this tent a bad review. We found lots of poles snapped over the first year of putting it up. The poles are brittle. However I now know there is more of a technique to it. Always remember to push the pole up rather than bend the pole into the pin.

It is a very large tent. Now after 4 years I am able to put the tent up alone but this does take practise. No mould after 4 years which I am pleased about.

I would not choose the tunnel tent style again as it is very dark. It is very waterproof and always holds well in the wind.

I have bought the porch this weekend. This avoids the problem of the dark tunnel tent and gives a lights and airy space for you to sit in. Very difficult to put the porch up alone. Hopefully I will get quicker with time.

Very pleased with this tent. We only use one bedroom (there are 2 of us plus the dog), so we have lots of living space inside. Layout of the tent is great; no problems with the siting of doors, windows, vents, etc. Only gripe is that the bedroom vents do not seem to let much air in so ventilation on a hot day (rare, I know!), can be a bit of a problem.

Would prefer the outer doors to zip all around (they only zip down the sides, the bottom of the door remains unsealed), but not a major concern. (The full zipping mesh inner doors keep the dog suitably contained if required)

SIG is great but would recommend also getting the footprint & carpet for added protection and comfort. We also have the porch for even more space :)

Great value for money tent.

We bought this tent as a second tent due to having a Vango Diablo 600 which was the best tent we could find only problem you put inner up before outer and it always rained. We have used the Zenobia the weekend of cream fields which got cancelled in a near by site. It didn't leak or move so we now our main tent off to France with this but I would recommend you buy the porch and footprint to save the tent and give you extra room for a family of 4 . Have since camped 2 more times in it great tent

Really pleased with this tent. Bought it from Go Outdoors for £169.99 where it has been a low as £149.99 via some offers and also the footprint (essential) and the carpet (definitely adds comfort). First used the weekend of 22/23 June. Straight forward to put up and well rested by the windy conditions. Lots of space inside and the bedrooms are well designed. Took a while to pack up in the bag but will improve with practice. Will purchase the porch for our next trip.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay as a practise run for our week long summer holiday. 2 adults and 3 children.

Pitched for the first time using footprint in less than an hour from boot of the car to sitting with the kettle on. We found he tent plenty large enough for the 5 of us and luggage. We were extremely lucky weather wise and it didn't rain a drop. Loved the bedroom end vents which open and clear condensation almost immediately. We will be investing in the carpet although used our picnic rug for the last trip.

We are thinking of investing in the porch for extra storage.

Packed down easily and fitted straight into its bag. All in all a great buy which we hope to get many years of use out of!

Not a bad tent - points below

Who I am

I do more 'rough' camping using expensive one man bivi's, hammocks etc - in more 'demanding' locations, example my Ajungilak Tyin 5 'sleeping bag' costs more that this tent cost us, but we wanted a cheap and cheerful tent for our family - my wife and I and 3 large dogs! Hence needed sewn in Groundsheet.

Good points

SIG, very large, easy to erect, easy to carry (for a big tent), pleasant looking (faux expedition base camp style), plenty of stability in bad weather, seems fairly water resistant, used in Brecons on a minus night and in morning we had a rigid ice tunnel - which was pretty cool - excuse the pun!.

Bad Points

Built to a price - in our case £199, and so material fairly flimsy, small tears appearing in support points, it came with a few tiny holes in canopy, pole snapped last use.

Conclusion

For the money and size you cannot go wrong, but we do not expect to keep for more than 3 years, because we doubt it will last that long.

We have had the Zenobia 6 for the past 3 years and have enjoyed many weekend breaks in it. We have camped in the most appalling weather and the tent has stayed water tight. It is very easy to pitch and easily fits back in the carry bag provided.

There is plenty of space for our family of 4, but 6 people could comfortably fit in the tent if required.

We purchased the footprint and carpet which is invaluable. The carpet does make a huge difference. We also purchased the canopy but we are less impressed with the canopy. It's a little awkward to attach and we can never get it to sit flush to the tent.

We have recommend the zenobia 6, footprint and carpet for comfortable family camping.
