Have always been slightly put off with camping as its uncomfortable and an effort to get up etc but we have bought the Kyham Chatsworth and its so easy to put up, takes about 10 minutes and no having to thread poles through etc as it all pops up in one. The inner living area has a sewn in lining and is spacious enough for our camp cots! I did say I wanted to be comfortable! We also have the Kyham carpet which makes our tent completely warm and homely! and ensures you take your shoes off - We all end up socialising in our tent!

As a single mum with 2 little ones (who are too small to really give a significant helping hand!) I decided on the Khyam Chatsworth for the QE system and the good indoor space. I have been on 2 trips now, a weekend and 10 day holiday and I am impressed and it has served us really well.
The QE system is good once you have the knack. I am not entirely sure it saves a massive amount of time but it means I don't have to pole wrangle which is always a bonus. I have been able to put it up both times without an issue, but I think it could become tricky in worse weather conditions
The internal space is good but agree that some more pockets would be good for storage. I also find the zips a bit annoying (especially at night for some reason!).
Overall, a great tent that suits us perfectly!

I really like mine, I bought it as a camping novice for me and three kids, as was attracted by the QE idea. (although prob took me an hour the first time!) Now I can do it in 10/15mins, but suggest that another person or biggish kid helps for the first few mins.I have put it up in some quite challenging conditions, (tired, hungry, gusty breeze and threatening to rain, and sulky kids)
That it goes up quick and you can get all the rest of your gear inside,is brill, keeps everything dry whilst I adjust the poles and guy ropes. The space is great if the weather is bad you can be inside without feeling too claustrophobic. Dont like the front awning part much, and yes the zips have been tricky at times. But has stood up to last years summer weather! and has also fitted six in an emergency, using the living space as sleeping area. I wish it had pockets or integrated storage space inside. I would recommend to anyone who is a bit pole phobic and starting out on camping as I was. It hasnt let me down and we've had a lot of fun in it.

I am a lone camper (female) I wanted a tent that I could easily erect myself. Yes I erected the tent no problems, easily and quickly. Plenty of living space only problems, it rained early one morning and yes design fault, the water collected in front of bedroom pole on outer tent. Having read previous reviews I dropped one side and problem solved. Dropping tent after weekend was time consuming because of all the tent pegs. Easily done and packed away, but could see me having problems in the wind or rain. I got very frustrated with all the bags/covers that needed to be added to protect the tent, all have ties, this made it time consuming. I am going to put velcro on all bags to make this quicker. All in all I like the tent, it has some faults but space and quick erection system suits me.

A big disappointment,Only used three times and the last time confirmed my apprehensions. First rainy and windy night it broke 2 quick release poles. Virtual collapse of the tent and an early trip home. The annex seemed to make matters worse, the whole thing always ready to take off.
Dont be conned by the quick erect system, it take ages to peg it all down once the poles are erect. I now own an Outwell and am a happy camping bunny.

We bought this tent from an exhibition to go on a two week trip to Scotland We had been advised to get one with metal poles, as our old, well used and reliable 4 person Eurohike tent might not be up to the job. On our first night on Skye, a pole on the Chatsworth broke at 4 in the morning ripping the fabric, in weather which was no worse than our old tent had stood up to before (although the weather was rough, no other tents on the site collapsed). While we were trying to get sorted, another pole broke.
We managed to buy a Outwell Minnesota in Inverness to continue our holiday (and which then stood up to worse weather than the Chatsworth had)
We took the Khyam tent back to Camping Centre Exhibitions office at Wokingham, who said they'd be in touch once they had looked at it, They won't reply to our claim for a refund.

Review based on 1st time use: Bought the Chatsworth for me and hubby for weekends and short weeks, space etc is ideal, just the treat with the so called quick erect. Overall the tent is just right for us but a few points to make. Ok so we were unlucky doing our first test run in the wind, 16mph in open space (we wanted to be alone!). There are a couple of things that could have been better. The main one being that when you open up the star shape at the beginning, bearing in mind you not done it before, but you don't know which is the front, which ordinarily wouldn't matter but as we had the ground sheet which is total rectangle, it did matter. So, tent on it's knees, all not going to bad, but then realise it is the wrong way round, turn it round, big gust of wind and nearly a divorce on our hands! Now unless we missed something, but hey, we have since used a marker pen and put an 'F' on the top of the star so when we open it out in a few weeks, we know what is the front! The side door zip is a little stiff, but even once used a few times, closing it from the inside you easily catch the outer flap, just a little annoying particularly if you use this door for the night time, dash to the toilet block! As well as the groundsheet we bought the carpet as well which is ideal and well recommended. Whilst the putting up took a bit of time due to the wind, the putting down was very easy - particularly as we knew what we were dealing with. The putting up in the wind may not have been that bad had when the tent was packaged at the manufacturer, that the side door was ziped up as this seems to have big impact on the amount of wind let in (just out luck the way it was layed out, was wind was onto the side door!). One word of advice if doing for the first time in the wind, make sure the main guys are down securely, one of ours wasn't and unfortunatley pinged out and stabbed the tent with a hole! I guess on the plus side, we used the patch system supplied which was easy to use and did the job, although yet to test in rain.
So, all in all, we are really pleased with the Chatsworth not sure the extra money is worthy against other quality products but then you are paying the quality and the system of the quick erect; which in principle is great and takes away the stress of remembering which poles go where, there is just the bedroom poles and they are simple. I think the 1st session for us in the windy conditions made it a bit tricky as we did not really know what we were doing! Having said that, can't wait to put it up again soon!
We had just one cover left over once we put it away, a 7 inch square padded piece with 4 singles ties. Think it may have been tucked under the 1st star poles but hubby didn't remember where it came from and the instructions don't mention it. Watch the video (note the nice man has no wind!) it is really helpful.
Thank you Kyham for the design; now we know how it works and is ideal for us, we shall be ready for putting it up in traditioal UK weather!

It's the Petworth really but the only difference is the bedroom is bigger / higher
It's bang on barring the zip sticking problem at the bottom and I would recommend the foot print groundsheet
Just peg it where you want it and erect the tent 'perfect'
Bonus is no tent base to clean when packing and a wipe down of the ground sheet is all you need to do :)
One tip though ! If its even l00ks windy make sure the 4 corner guys are well pegged afore yee starts to snap out the bottom legs ;)

Bought this tent in February 2008 and love it! Quick erect? Well you can erect it in about 10 minutes but you need another 20 minutes to peg it down and get it right.
The rear bedroom extension can be difficult as it is prone to holding water in heavy rain (pitch one side higher than the other seems to fix this.
Overall it is very easy to pitch.
Living in this tent is great. No draughts so very warm when it is chilly outside and spacious with loads of headroom. The bedroom pod does leave a lot to be desired and hence knocked a couple of points on my rating. The pod has a pathetic divider if you require 2 bedrooms. A quick modification - with a pair of scissors - quickly turned it into a single large room which is great as there are only 2 of us!
Overall, easy to pitch, bug and draught free so very comfortable. Highly recommended

Bought this as we had an Ultimate Classic and wanted a smaller Khyam with a BIG. Very disappointed. The tent was great but seemed to have cheaper poles and joints - we were assured this was not the case. The first one we received was returned as the storm skirt came away where it had not been stitched properly. The replacement tent suffered a snapped bedroom pole joint and the other bedroom pole joint looked as if it would go the same way after the first night. It was windy but the Ultimate Classic had stood up to higher winds on many occasions. All in all not at all happy and made the decision to exchange for a Vango Amazon. Wish we had kept the Ultimate Classic. It is hard to believe the new tents with sewn in groundsheets are of the same quality as last years tents.
