I bought the '08 igloo, was great at first, but then found that getting in and out would be a bit of a pain, the outer door is low, where as the inner is high, so effectively to get in you must dive in. The poles seem a bit of a gimmick on the smaller kyham tents, as it takes seconds to put through. The tent stood up to loads, no pole breaks although this would mean changing complete pole as they require hole pole sections as a replacement, also they are rather expensive. But they do stand up to a lot, without guylines!

Useful for a quick weekend away. Big inside for a relatively small and easy to erect package.
Main complaint is the groundsheet is very thin indeed and not very durable, to enable it to fold up all as one. Taking this into account, I bought the additional fitted secondary groundsheet. This looks good, but it is cut to exactly fit the OUTSIDE footprint of the flysheet. Result is that when wind and rain force the flysheet in only a teeny bit, rain run-off drips onto and collects ABOVE the secondary groundsheet and makes a puddle beneath the very thin primary groundsheet. As the latter is very thin, after a night of lying in a puddle, it does seep through and gets damp, (in one case for me an actual puddle) beneath a camp mat.
My solution was my sewing machine. I made a 10cm reduction in the radius of the secondary fitted groundsheet to avoid it collecting run-off water. No more problems.
I emailed Khyam on this one but I have had no response.
Second grumble is that the inner tent door zips bottom and sides, and is 'hinged' at the top. It's a pain to need to tie it up with fidly bits of fabric tape every time I open it, to prevent it causing a floppy veil across the opening. Wouldn't it have been so much better to 'hinge' it at the bottom with the zipper above and down the sides, then it would just fall down out of the way.

We've had one since about 1993-ish - and it has proved to be superb. Might be a bit cramped for 3 but perfect for 2 - plenty of space for gear. Yes it's now showing signs of having been used a fair bit, broken plastic D ring (my fault), guying point pulled off (again my fault - fell over the guyline), bit faded now, but it's still perfectly serviceable & we've never needed to re-proof it. It's stood up to all sorts of weather -10 days of gale force winds & rain in Orkney one October, springs to mind - no problems whatsoever. The supplied extra storm guys when attached to the poles make it rock steady in stormy conditions. Re-the porch area ground sheet, we've always used a separate loose ground sheet bought cheaply from a camping shop. Only thing I've never found a proper solution to is keeping the rear ventilation cowl from shutting itself, the sewn-in stiffening doesn't work. Tried lots of methods, none perfect. Best so far is clothes peg holding it open against one of the poles.
We'd still use it but can no longer scramble in & out of tents at ground level & now have to use much higher off-the-ground camp-beds. So we've just bought a Khyam Wayfarer - still the same Rapidex system (have yet to find a better method) as the Igloo but now can stand up inside (none of the previous bigger Khyams had big/tall enough inner-tents to use our camp beds). What better recommendation is that?

I have owned an Igloo for over 20 years now.
It is simply excellent.
I have taken it round Europe on an Interrailing trip in my youth, and camped on numerous Duke of Edinburgh camps over the years.
You definitely get what you pay for and whilst seeming a little expensive the quality is excellent. 20 years and still going strong!
The inner tent is attached to the flysheet in the bag with poles attached and it goes up in seconds.
I get the groundsheet comments for the entrance but surely taking a groundsheet with you is quite easy?
I lent it out and magically a pole broke when apparently they hadn't even used the tent??!
On getting it replaced by Khyam they also supplied me with a rare new flysheet with 2 porches - the igloo has a porch at one end and flush zip at the other.
The new flysheet is ace and I have no idea why Khyam don't make it as standard for the Igloo?
I now have an Outwell Montana 4 as I am getting on and have a wife who likes to stand up in the tent and have a bit more comfort. I still reckon the Khyam Igloo is better quality than the Outwell.

Just bought one and was impressed with how easy it went up. Think its more of a 2 berth than 3 but will manage with the little one from time to time. Only downside is no cover at entrance and that its awkward getting in and out and that its small but that's a compromise worth having when pitching this up and pegged out in 3 mins.

Fantastic tent that we have owned for about 15 years and is now very faded after lots of wear. We've looked after it well and reproof it most years. Its a great size for 2 people and because of the shape there is room for bags at either side of your sleeping bags.
We use a Khyam groundsheet and the porch section is covered (see previous review). Never had any problems with leaking and we've been in terrible rain. Also camped in 60mph winds at the base of Snowdon one January and the other tents on our site all got ripped to shreds in the night.Ours didn't.No damage whatsoever. Love this tent and still use it even though we've got 3 newer tents to choose from!

Brilliant tent. Me the wife and labrador use it for short stays or bad weather due to its quick erection times/ durability in bad weather.I even take it with me on my motorbike trips. The entrance area needs a groundsheet mind.

Quick easy Rapidex system my ten year old can do it him self. Cosy 3 berth comfortable 2 berth will take a double air bed with room to spare for rucksacks in the sleeping pod. Small porch area good for keeping your boots dry, only problem is soggy knees when crawling in and out, hence the 9 / 10 khyam should have put in a small piece of groundsheet. The tent has been in some horrendous weather conditions and stood up to it no problem.

Manufacturer's Description
In many respects the Khyam Igloo is definitive tent in the Khyam range. The Igloo utilises the Khyam Rapidex Quick Erect pole system, whereby all of the poles remain sewn into the flysheet and can be simply clicked into place in a matter of seconds.
The Igloo is perfect for touring, pitching and striking down takes a matter of minutes, so you know that you can move from site to site with ease. The floorplan of the Khyam Igloo is hex-shaped and the generous breathable polyester inner tent with sewn-in groundsheet is ideal for up to 3 people. The front porch provides a nice area to store your gear or have your morning cuppa, with extra storage space to the rear of the inner tent.
Technically, the Igloo benefits from using the Khyam commissioned WeatherWeave Pro flysheet, with taped seams and additional polyurethane coating ensures excellent hydrostatic performance. The tried and tested Rapidex Quick Erect pole system uses strong, solid fibrelass poles and durable, hard wearing nylon auto joints. With a little bit of practice the Igloo can be pitched within 30 seconds!
Optional extras for the Khyam Igloo include a tailored footprint SPS groundsheet. This great accessory will provide protection for inner tent groundsheet, and add a groundsheet to the porch area to keep your belongs clean and dry. Also available is the Flexidome storm kit to provide extra stability in windy conditions.
