I have a Kyham Ontario 8xc.This is my first family tent and it very easy to put up. It does require two people but only for setting the poles.

I searched for a long time for a porch for this tent and have found that the Gelert Horizon ones fit it, as do the Hi Gear Zenoba ones. Unfortunately none were available and I went for the Hi Gear Kalahari as a risk for my Ontario. The fit is not as good as the Zenoba (saw one on one of my travels) but it fits well with only a small gap on one side and one of about two inches on the other. Stayed erect even through winds of 20mph. It does work fine and when I bought my porch there were loads of Kalaharis available at Go outdoors.

Love it! We are a family of 5 and find the tent very versatile, our 3 children can be separated or be together!

We purchased the carpet which makes the inside more luxurious. There is plenty of space for us all to move about inside the tent too. Pitching the tent is getting quicker each time. Our only gripe is that the pegs supplied with the tent were not up to scratch, bending on first use! We have replaced them all with strong plastic ones now!

We have camped in all sorts of weather and no leaks!

All in all, we are very happy with our purchase and would definitely recommend.

We used this tent for the first time last month after upgrading and we love it!

Its really easy to put up, it can be a bit fiddly if you get a gust of wind but I think most tents are like that.

Lovely big living space and I like the fact you can have one large sleeping space at one end and either one or two bedrooms down the other end. Our children are small and happy to share at the moment so we get even more living space.

A lot warmer than our old tent and no draughts which is lovely.

We haven't stayed in it in really bad weather but I can't see us having any problems.

Only problem is trying to roll it up small enough to get it back into the bag!

We have had three trips away with our new tent and I have to say I love it. We are a family of five and there is plenty of room. We bought the sun porch, carpet and footprint and find them invaluable. The porch gives you much more usable space. It is easy to pitch, I managed it with my 12 year old on our own in around 40 minutes. I did find that a couple of the little eyelets snapped off quite easily and there is a gap at the back door which I need to figure out how to close up. Also, the tent does fit back into the bag and the quality of the tent bag and peg bag could improve as both have ripped. I did notice that the inside of the tent is quite wet from condensation in the mornings but once the doors are opened up it dries out very quickly. I would highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for a large family tent. I was a bit worried when buying if it was going to be too large for the campsite pitches but we haven't had any problems so far. Hope you find this review helpful.

This tent is a great family tent, ideal for our family of 2 adults & 4 children. It is versatile with the 4 bedrooms & provides adequate cover/space in all weather conditions. Provides the option of cooking inside. The only problem we have had recently is locating a porch to give us that extra space for cooking/shoes etc.

I love this tent, we bought ours from new after lots of research, the things that appeal are the internal size, the hydrostatic head being 5000.

It stood up very well in a freak storm last year, not a drop of water did it let in, we purchased the porch/awning extension as a wet room/ cooking room and have found that really adds to the already amazing tent.

The only thing that stops it getting 10 is that sometimes if you peg out too wide before getting the bedrooms up properly you cant always get all the eyelets attached.

Would recommend all accessories with it too, carpet footprint and porch. All makes for a lovely luxurious tent

We have had our Ontario 8 for 3 years and still love it as much as the day we got it. We are only a family of 3 but love the space we get with the Ontario 8. 2 double bedrooms (one for daughter and one for 'stores') and one quadruple bedroom for mum & dad plus 'dressing room'! We opted for the carpet too which makes the living area super cozy. We have camped from early April to end September and with a little help from our electric fan heater, the tent stays super cozy!

We've camped in wind, rain, high temperatures (yes in this country) and the tent has stood up to everything so far. In 3 years only damage is a small rip to one of the bedroom inner tents where friends borrowed the tent and overloaded the pockets. We have fine-tuned the pitching to about 20 mins in total (including pegging out). Then I spend another 3 hours doing all the little finishing touches! We are also very pleased that we can get everything back in the bag (including the poles). We also have the side sun porch as we personally thought the side doors were not suitable for a tent of this size. For example, if it's been raining when you open the standard side door, water would definitely pour in straight onto the carpet. This is why we have scored it 9 instead of 10/10.

I have recommended this tent to many people and know others who have one too.

We've used this tent a few times for up to a week at a time and I can say I am really happy with this.

No leaks despite some really heavy rain, we actually only use it as a 4 berth tent as we do like more room and the layout works really well for our family of four.

We use a footprint to try to keep the tent clean and would use this as a two berth, once our teenagers no longer come with us. As the previous reviewer mentions, if you just use the pod at one end, it would make a massive living area but still substantial anyway.

Looking forward to using it again this year.

Similar to other reviews on the old model design (without lip over the door) our tent lets in rain. Even the slightest fall and it pours in when you open the door. We too had a similar problem with build quality. Original tent was stitched into the carry bag! The tent now has a few tears - not major - usually on the exterior mud flaps. Still love the space though. Family of 5 have had many a holiday in comfort - if only the British weather were kinder I would have scored higher. Maybe the build quality has improved but I am now considering Outwell. Cost a bit more - but worth it?

This tent was made in 2008 and purchased by me in 2009 from new. Its a pretty good tent in most respects. Being the older model there was no lip above the door so water could get in if raining. The big problem with this tent was the quality control from the factory. The first one I got had terrible stitching and even had the wrong metal attachment sewn to a webbing loop. The retailer tried finding one from their stock that was much better but couldn't. They all had pretty bad sewing. In the end I had to pay more and purchase local from a retailer that would allow me to personally check the tent over in their display area. A sad state ofd affairs really. Even the one I finally got had to be repaired by me on its first trip as one of the inner tent loops pulled away from the fabric due to poor stitching.

In summary. A good tent, very roomy but like most tunnel tents it will move around a lot in high winds and its always worth having some replacement poles on hand just in case some snap during a storm. The bag is a tight fit, but it does all go back in with a little practice.

My rating is based on both the tent design (good) and the *possible* problems with quality control on occasion.
