Having suffered for some years now with polyester tents that are hot and clammy and with flexi poles that don't flex and break at the first sign of wind, using our new Bear lake 6 for the first time has been a real eye opener. Everything about this tent shouts out quality. The zips are larger and heavier duty, the stitching is better and we even think the velcro is more sticky. Using it in France in the high 20's was also brilliant as it always seemed to be cooler inside and yet kept the warmth in at night. The new dark windows are brilliant and we just simply love this tent. We would have given it a full 10/10 except for the front door where we feel the ground sheet zip should have been designed to zip up in the opposite direction, buy hey it is still a hell of a tough zip. All in all we cannot stress enough just how worth every penny this tent is, especially when we got over £300 off with a price match at a well known camping superstore.

We have owned our BL6 for 6 years now, having first bought it for a 2 week trip to the south of France.

It is the best tent I have ever used.

Yes it is heavy, yes it takes up quite a bit of space when folded away, yes it takes a while to pitch (about an hour in total). BUT when its up its like a castle. We use ours regularly and it is as good as it was the first time.

It keeps cooler in the hot sunshine, yet warm in colder months.

There is no crisp packet rustling in the wind and rain like cheaper nylon tents either.

I have no criticism of this tent at all.

We are a family of 5 and the BL6 fits the bill perfectly.

Go and see one, you will be impressed.

We bought this when it was half price in an off season sale as a replacement for a Coleman 5 birth that had been given to us many years before. I did a lot of research before buying and wanted to buy something that would last many years but also be something that made camping a bit more comfortable compared to the Coleman (which was good) in that it was like a furnace when the sun was on it etc.

The Bear Lake 6 is awesome. Yes it take a bit more time to put up and take down but its worth it. It usually takes us 45 minutes to an hour for us to pitch and attach porch. This is doing it at a nice steady pace.

We are a family of 5 and we usually put 2 double airbeds in the sleeping area and a roll up matt (I don't like the blow up beds). This fits quite nicely. Space wise sleeping it is great and im 6ft 1 and my wife is 5fr 10.

The polycotton works great and it never feels like a sauna (we used it this week and it was 22-25 each day) and is plenty warm enough through the night.

One thing we have noticed since using it is the amount of positive comments about it. Both campers next to us this week came to have a look round and had said that a lot of people on site had been admiring it. Not the reason we bought this tent but its nice all the same.

It comes in 2 large bags and does weight a fair bit and also take quite a bit of room. It is definitely worth it.

Oh finally we have used this tent during what seemed like a monsoon with gale force winds. There were no leaks and it stood up well. Was a pain to take down in said storm the next day but you cant have everything.

We all love this tent

Last year I wanted to replace an existing 5/6 person tent with something that I felt would be a bit longer lasting and a bit more solid. I splashed out on a Bear Lake 6 via BCH Camping and then subsequently bought the Front Extension via the internet. We've used the tent three or four times since and there are no complaints - it's simply the best tent we've ever had. Spacious and light inside, it keeps heat when you need it and stays cool when you want. You can put it up as a 1 person, but 2 is definitely easier. It does take time to put it up, so we only tend to use it if we're away for more than 1 night (otherwise we use a Vango Beta 350 and 450 XL). Would definitely recommend the carpetted floor as well as the additional footprint groundsheet, and the front entension just gives you all that extra room. We last used it in France in May this year for a week away with the kids and it was great. It has coped with all the weather that has been thrown at it and stayed solid where other tents have failed and the outside dries out pretty quickly in the morning when you need to pack away in a hurry. It's just a quality product - not cheap, but definitely gets my vote.

This is a great tent.

I have the 2010 model with the 2012 front extension.

There are few criticisms, I have not given it a 10 for niggly things like 'why isn't there an option for the electric light point from both sides of the tent?'

The feel of tent is great - minimal noise and the groundsheet is of the highest quality.

The tent is also supremely stable - we had 20+ mph winds this weekend and it barely moved. It also rained every day and there was not a drop entered the tent.

There is loads of space both in the bed pods (we had 2 x double camp beds and there was still loads of room) and in the living area. With the awning the living space is doubled - perfect for family camping.

I am very pleased with this choice.

We love this tent. Big windows, three doors, two bedrooms, zip in bucket groundsheet to keep out any weather, flyscreens on windows and doors.Great for our family of four and also for accommodating extra guests (we have had grandparents stay).

We also have the front extension, which we would say is essential for a guaranteed great camping experience even if the weather buckets down - we've got young kids so having the extension provides an admin area (we set up our table/chairs, food/chiller, cooker and bikes/buckets/toys in this area) leaving the inside for reading, rolling around, playing if it is too mucky to be outside. We have camped without the extension, and we coped, but really regretted leaving it at home.

We recommend the footprint too, as it allows (almost) everything to stay clean and dry (provided tent is dry) when you pack up, even if the ground is wet/muddy.

If you've got young kids the carpet is excellent, however with older kids (or none) it may not be needed - nice to sit around on but another thing to clean and pack up.

One thing I would say, is if you haven't seen this tent set up go and find one, so you can get a sense of how big it is; it does take at least two people to put up, and also takes up a lot of room in the car (we've an estate and had to get a roof box).

We have had the Bear for 3 years now,got it to replace an Outwell Idaho, been out in it on 5 different occasions, its got easier to pitch, takes 45mins or so to pitch with groundsheet attached ,a bit longer by the time we've put in the bedroom pods and sorted the guy ropes etc. Have to say that its a fantastic tent, rock solid in all conditions, the lack of condensation compared to a poly tent is a revelation, its much cooler when the suns out, and cosier on a evening, bedrooms are of a good size, managed to get our giant queen size airbed in no prob, there are pockets galore for your bits and pieces, its got plenty of options to zip unzip doors, windows, all with insect mesh, if you thinking of moving from a polyester tent to a poly/cotton don't even think twice, because this tent takes camping to a completely different level.

I love my tent!

We have it with the front extentision so there is lots of room for my family.

It is such high quality and is worth every penny we paid.

It is a bit big and heavy when packed away but we have a trailer so this is not an issue for us.

It barely moves in the wind and is really quite no polyester flapping around!

Highly recommended!
