My husband bought me this tent for when I wanted to go camping on my own. It lives up to all my expectations of Outwell tents, the build quality is good and it is spacious for one person (two would be comfortable, three a squeeze). I can even put this up on my own. I have the footprint and carpet, and have also bought the Quenchua tarp as suggested by previous posts. I am so happy with my tent and totally enjoyed my first solo camping trip. I would recommend this tent to anyone, as it stood up to heavy rain and winds without a leak.

We previously owned the Outwell Nevada 3 and though it was a great tent, we had a camping trip to Robin Hood's Bay and found the strong winds rather frightening. We watched as many peoples fibreglass tent poles shattered and pierced the fabric of their tents.
After that experience we had been wanting to upgrade to a tent with metal poles but found that they were just too expensive, then Go Outdoors had this tent on offer with the footprint and a carpet for £150. The tent itself is very sturdy and doesn't move as much as the Nevada used to in the wind and we found it easy for the two of us to put up and take down.
Though the description says that is a 3 berth, we found that it only just fits our double airbed, however, I can see that it would sleep 3 with foam mats or a SIM. The addition of the footprint and the carpet makes a big difference to the living area in the tent.
The living area is big enough to fit a table and chairs in if it rains for a long period of time. We have not had it up in the rain just yet but I am sure that it will live up to the Outwell standard.

Bought this from Go Outdoors including carpet and footprint on one of their voucher deals for £150. I Already have Montana 6 so am use to the sloping front. This is a great little tent which I could put up quickly and easily on my own (59 year old female), but also has standing headroom. It met all my expectations and was surprisingly warm at night. This tent would comfortably accommodate two but it makes an ideal tent for a single camper who likes their home comforts.

I would agree with all of the comments to-date. The tent is a nice size for two and prevents things from getting miserable if the weather takes a turn for the worse. I would have thought that it would be a squeeze for three.
The tent seems to be well built and is easy to erect for two people. I have put it up on my own, but it is a bit of a struggle. We have not experienced heavy weather yet, but I would be fairly confident on the basis of the couple of times that I have put it up so far. The seams look fairly well reinforced.
One frustrating feature is the lack of an extension given the sloping design of the door. There is enough space in the front of the tent, but the slope means that water can easily get in when unzipping the door in the rain. The idea of a Quechua tarp sounds good and I'll consider risking £20 on a trip to Decathlon before we venture out next year. If SmokeMachine could publish a link to his pics of this in use that would be great.

Never had an Outwell tent before but was pleasantly surprised!
We wanted a small, lightish, quick to pitch tent for short weekends and stop overs and this one seemed to tick all the boxes.
Got it for a great price with the carpet and footprint which are really nice 'finishing touches'.
This tent is pretty easy to pitch and only has 3 poles. 1 main steel pole and 2 fibreglass poles that lift the roof. Basically you just peg the back of the tent, insert the poles, pull the whole thing forward and peg the rest. Simple!
The tent got battered with rain and stood VERY well in the quite high winds we experienced on it's maiden voyage!
We managed to fit 3 self inflating mats in the bedroom pod and had a bit of room to move around still but you would probably only get a double air bed in there at most (if you use airbeds) and therefore would suit a couple perfectly :-)
The head height is great and at 6'4' I can stand upright in this tent.
The attention to detail is apparent in this tent with some really well thought out ideas and innovations, the ventilation in this tent is fantastic and all-in-all it is really well thought out and the quality shines through.
I can now see what all the fuss is about with regards to Outwell as a brand as this tent really does look AND (more importantly) play the part well.
The only reason I have given this little gem 9/10 is because a canopy is not available but would make this tent even better than it is by adding valuable shelter over the sloping front door.

After struggling with an old Royal Avignon 6 berth that I was given to try camping from a mate we decided to get a smaller weekend tent. My priorities were that firstly it had to be quick to erect and that we could stand up in it. We bought the Carolina S on sale about the £160 mark. We also used a couple of waterproof travel rugs from Halfords( much cheaper than a tent carpet ). I also bought a QUECHUA tarp at about £19.95 as we like to sit out, even in the rain. That together with a small ground sheet for the front of the tent that is very useful for sitting out on / changing shoes etc ( pics supplied above ).
The tent was great, I pitched it in well under 10 mins including all pegs and ropes albeit in a slightly different order from the manufacturers video. The sloping front door takes a bit of getting used to but once you accept that you have to unzip it at the bottom and stand just inside to fold away the door flap / fly screen its fine. Very well made and sturdy even in strong winds due to the heavy duty steel central pole. Taking the tent down is as easy and it packs away in its holdall just as it came out the first time. I have replaced the plastic tent pegs that came with it with metal ones but that's personal preference.
I would say that it is a great two man tent, three would be a bit on the crowded side. We have had four weekend outings in it so far and cannot find any real problems with it. Inside it is big enough for two camping chairs and a small table. Do not buy this tent if you like to keep all your camping furniture, clothes holdalls and the kitchen sink in it as there just isn't the room but if you like to keep things simple its great.

Just spent two weeks in Anglesey in this Carolina S. We have graduated from a little Vango tunnel tent.
It's very well made. Stood up to very high winds and buckets of rain. Its great to be able to sit in the warm and dry and look out of the windows at the view, without having to be in the thick of the weather. Its very light and bright inside, so you don't feel to shut in. Its easy to put up and pack away. A very good tent, which isn't too big, for a couple who need standing and sitting room.

Pitched up first time at Beacon Farm with the new tent,I do agree with Bubb it is roomy for two folk and a week in this would be no problem.
The only reason I've given it a poor score is because it has a 30mm rip in the front window and when it's been raining, all the water on the door falls into the tent as you open it.
Will take tent back to Yeomans for a replacement and buy a tarp to cover the door, problems sorted.

Used the Carolina s for second time and found it as good as the first, bought tent for 1 to 2 night stays but found it very good for complete holiday.
Bedroom only good for two people but the same for most tents. Able to stand up in living and bedroom. Built in groundsheet is great. Very easy to erect tent, goes up with bedroom complete. Very strong construction as with all outwell stuff

Just got back from a trip to the lakes and it rained like I've never seen before and thundered and lightning for 2 and a half hours. The tent stood up to everything the weather threw at it, but there was a little water in the front corner. I wonder if the rain got in through the vent at the side. I'm surprised it wasn't flooded with the amount of water that fell last night (28/6/10)
Water got underneath the tent, but that wasn't the tents fault. I wish the bedroom was made of a darker material because the sunshine wakes you up, which isn't good at 4am. The front outer door fastens with velcro at the bottom. This is ok apart from when the door is shut the wind and a bit of rain gets in as the door flaps about a bit. But on the whole loved the tent and will post pictures of our next outing.
