We are a family of 3 and have used this tent twice now. The first was in snowy conditions and it was relatively easy to put up. We were impressed by the spaciousness of it, clever little storage pockets throughout the tent and that the porch area was separate so we had our cooking facilities in there with plenty of room. The tent is bright and airy but surprisingly warm given the wintry conditions. We used it a second time where conditions were windy but this tent is very sturdy. It is very easy to take down and fits nicely in to the bag with plenty of room to spare. The footprint and carpet are well worth the money. The carpet is tough and warm adding a touch of luxury.

It rained one day but we had no problem. We love the luminous ropes as we have always tripped over them on previous tents but had no chance of missing them on this. I cant think of a single fault with this tent- we love it and consider it a wise investment and would highly recommend it.

We bought this tent in the summer and tried to use it most weekends, we are a family of 4, we love the tent. The setup is ideal with the front being separated and being able to zip the front up. I would defo recommend this tent! We are going to add the side extension as we are planning a trip to France so would like the extra space! I would have liked to add a front extension but yet unable to find a suitable extension, if anyone could advise, that would be great. :)

Very impressed ! We took our time with choosing, and this one got the nod over the similarly priced Outwell Montana. Used for one wet, sunny, very windy typical N, Wales week in August! and we were very happy and pleased with our decision! Easy to erect and went back in bag well. Very spacious, very sturdy in high winds (a tent at the side of us was rattling like mad , and looked like it was going to take off!) Really like the toggle-up curtains and porch area, great for storage + cooking, well ventilated too. Will be buying carpet and footprint and look forward to next seasons camping!

We spent 10 days in our new tent, very heavy rain mins after putting it up,just one leak by the side door lower guy rope connection, and 3 of the black pegs broke putting them in to firm ground.

We had a lot of rain and high winds sometimes both together, after seam sealing the leak,we had no problems at all,v ery stable in the wind, very cosy at night.

The tent is great for us 4 we all love it. Easy to put up, about about 30 mins, and to take down too.

Nice place to cook in,and keep all the wet/muddy boots 7 coats in, out of the main living area,we had a bit of a party in ours,10 of us in the main area one night, we all had room to sit, great time had by all.

Thought I,d update my review after using our tent in extreme weather.

Have just returned from a week in Pear Tree park in Poole. We had 2 weeks worth of rain in 30 mins!

THe campsite was completely swamped. There were people packing up and going, caravan awnings collapsing with the weight of the rain and just general mayhem.

Our tent was sitting in around 4 inches of water, ( see picture ) the living area felt like a waterbed. I was really worried the tent was going to leak, so lifted everything of the floor. It did NOT let in a single drop! Everything stayed bone dry.

AWESOME TENT would really recommend.

We also got the side extension this year and it was a real lifesaver during the rain.

This is a great tent for a family of 4 as it is roomy without being massive. The Glendale 5 gives us a porch for cooking and taking off muddy wellies. The bedrooms are spacious and we have ours as one large room to keep an eye on the children. The main room has bags of space for a table, chairs and children to play without feeling cramped and we love the big windows - all in all it's the near perfect tent and I would recommend it to anyone.

We've just changed our Aztec Sala 8 for this tent and for one particular reason - the built-in porch. With 2 small children and the vagaries of the British weather cooking can be a real problem and although we looked at tents with extensions or awnings when we saw this one we loved it. Having now had our first outing we are really happy with our choice.

Main highlights:

The porch area - the flexibility of this is excellent as you can have the inner door, closed, half-closed or completely open as preferred. The bendy pole keeps the headroom excellent.

The windows - huge clear windows all around make it beautifully lights, mean you can enjoy the view and check on your children without having to move a muscle!

Ease of pitching - I am only just over 5 feet tall and my husband is 5'8' but we put the tent up easily, even with a very clingy 1 year old in tow!

Only downside (that we have discovered so far) - the tent pegs! The plastic ones bent really easily so we are going to send/take them back as it wasn't even a stony or hard pitch.

We think this is pretty close to a perfect family tent for 4 people (especially with smaller children) as you can have one big bedroom (as we do) or split into 2 (as we will when the kids get older). We are so glad we spent the extra money for an Outwell as the whole tent is really well constructed with lots of nice features including the 'curtains', pockets and clips for cables. We look forward to getting many years of use out of it!

I can't think of a bad thing to say about this tent. The fully enclosed porch area is a real must for us. We just got back from a long weekend with 2 adults and 2 kids at a festival. We had 4 days of torrential rain and winds from 15-20mph constantly with much stronger gusts.

We all stayed perfectly dry, there was no worry about the wind and loads of space for us also allowing us to hang out in the porch area fully mud covered for snacks without worrying about getting the inside dirty.

I would recommend it for any family of 4, and I'd have no worry about the space either.

We were looking to upgrade to an Outwell this year, having had a very good Coleman Weathermaster in previous years.

We saw the Glendale 5 at a show earlier in the year and was impressed by its size and features so decided to get one for Easter. The fact it has an enclosed porch was a real selling point, meaning that we could have a dedicated utility area for the dirty shoes, kitchen equipment and cooker, whilst maintaining a comfortable living area in the main compartment - zipped off from the world.

The small innovations such as the toggle-up curtains are much less of a faff than previous tents I've owned, and the ventilation is good throughout. As we had nice weather it is hard to give an opinion as to it's sturdiness; but I have no concerns over whether it will stand up to more intense weather.

My only gripe is that although the pegging system is colour-coded; it's very likely you'll need to buy the odd set of pegs going forward, whether that be rock-pegs or direct replacements, since one or two of the pegs warped when being hammered into the ground. Other than that, a brilliant tent that I'm looking forward to using again!

Upgraded to this tent from the Nevada M as we needed a little more space. We really liked the the Outwell Vermont but thought it was just a bit big for the 4 of us, so were really happy to find this tent. It almost identical to the Vermont, just a little bit smaller. I loved the pantry area for cooking rather than having to do it outside should it be raining. Loads of living space enough for table, chairs and other furniture and still left plenty of room for kids to play in. Really easy to pitch, took us 45 mins the first time in our garden and 30 mins on site. Took 15 mins to take down and all went back in the bag perfectly! We are going to the side extension which I think is a must if it rains.
