Just used the Montana 6 Extension on a recent camping trip - very impressed and so worth the investment. This will greatly improve the usability and comfort of the tent in good conditions as well as bad.
The one thing about the Montana 6, despite its otherwise solid construction is the front door configuration - which slopes with a few small velcro strips to secure the front of the tent. Although we had bad weather, the extension gives plenty of room to enter via the front entrance rather than 'leave boots at the door' coming through the rather cramped porch. Also gives room to cook and sit out when fine (never really liked cooking inside the tent in inclement weather.!).
Very simple to get a good erection; just clip and and push the poles in nice and slowly. And sit back and get great satisfaction with a nice glass!

At first it seems expensive for what you get. But, & it's a big but, it does finish the Montana 6 off perfectly. It gives you that extra couple of feet that you always need outdoors whether it's for hiding from the sun or, more likely, the rain. Very stable no issues with it at all, except the usual price per foot. Put an extra foot on it or take off a couple of pounds.

Great addition to the already brilliant Montana 6. Perfect for cooking and eating whatever the weather - keeps all crumbs out of tent - ideal when camping with toddlers. Useful for kids to shelter under during showers and keep their pushchair, trikes etc dry. Large windows allow lots of light in so main tent isn't darkened. Wish we'd bought it sooner!

The front of the Montana 6 tent is in my opinion poorly designed with Velcro patches instead of a zip. The problems are very noticeable in the wet. Last year after using the Monty for the first time I vowed that I would have the extension next time…
It totally enhanced the camping experience. Setting up was easy (as was packing it down). The problems with the front of the tent have immediately been negated. The extension held up to gale force wind (and rain) living up to the ‘bullet proof’ feel that I had with the Montana. I am impressed with the space created and the versatility that goes with this. The walls have windows (you cannot open them) that match the tent so visibility isn’t diminished. In fact I thought visibility was better as the front windows in the tent were rain drop free.
We experienced poor weather during our outing and used it for cooking in and also as a sheltered room outside. I was worried during the gales that it might compromise the tent in stability. There were no problems. I look forward to the better weather when the extension will be used to shelter from the sun and not the rain.
If you have a Montana 6 then this is a very, very useful bit of kit to go along with it. I have heard from other Monty owners that the Montana Canopy can lift in high winds and damage the tent. As the extension has walls it is very secure as proved on our recent outing.

Used for the first time May half term. Brilliant. For a change from the rain we had last summer it was so hot it was shelter from the sun. Gave us more room inside as kept cooker, table and chairs outside.

Used the extension for only the second time in 3 camping trips - but found the extension to be great although did get a bit of hammering last week @ Eastfleet ,Weymouth , the winds were really bad one day and had to keep re pegging to help secure.

Just used front extension for 1st time brilliant to sit under and watch the sun go down. Sides go to floor so cut down on drafts and also as was my case stops the fine rain (you know the fine stuff that wets you through). Would recommend extension to all Monty owners.

We used our front extension a few times last year (and it rained on every occasion), and in the rain it is a must. We cooked in one side and ate in the other, hung washing in it and left our wet shoes in it all night so we didn't have to bring them into the tent.

We have just used the extension for the first time. It's easy to put up, we cooked under it and still had room for table and 4 chairs. At the beginning of holiday OH was not convinced, but by the end of it he was completely converted and thought it was a good buy.

Just been away in our Montana 6 for first time and also used the extension. don't think I would like tent as much if I didn't have extension it is so useful. We put all cooking equipment plus table under it and still had enough room for 4 of us to eat around the table. When it rained was still able to sit out under extension and enjoy the evening camping atmosphere. If you are thinking about getting one can definitely recommend one without hesitation.
