We have used this tent 3 or 4 times now and overall have been very impressed with it.

My wife, 2 year old daughter and I normally take one bedroom with the outlaws in the other. Both rooms are spacious, altough the 2nd room which is interchangeable with the kids room is a little smaller and with a double airbed in there doesn't leave any room round the sides.

Recently we camped in Wasdale and it lashed down, properly! There were no leaks whatsoever although a bit of condensation was evident in the living area. This probably had something to do with the 4 adults and child and slightly damp clothes thrown over chairs so no worries or concerns there.

The tent went up for the first time in the garden with 2 men (not seasoned campers by any means!) in about 20 minutes and is easily erected on site in about 10 minutes. Another 5 mins for messing around with guys etc is needed.

This is a very stable tent, resilient to weather, toddles and drunken stumbling over the guys.

The only criticisms really are that outwell don't make a front or side extension which would be useful for cooking and pottering and they dont supply the front poles for the door. Apparently these are about a tenner.

Would recommend thoroughly, although upon reflection I would probably have chosen the Nevada M which is slightly wider (to compensate for the slightly smaller 2nd bedroom in the N4) and the availability of a matching canopy.

Others comment about the tightness of the side door and I have to agree that it is a pain, although just gripping both sides of the zip in your hand and squeezing a bit gets you in and out.

If outwell had made an extension this tent would score a 10.

In summary: Great for couples with kids, easy enough for dad to put up himself in 15 minutes and packs down into roughly the size of a cricket bag.

Warm and dry.

Plenty of living space.

Isn't that all you should expect of a tent?

I have just returned from a weeks break in the highlands and as you probably know there is a great variation in the weather there he he he!

Anyway we managed to pitch the tent in 20 minutes and had no problems whatsoever in erecting it. The problems we had were with both doors being really really tight to point that we thought we had burst it grrrrrrrrrr. We got the free kids room also with this tent and to be honest the standard room is more roomy for 2 children along with 2 air beds - they managed to get the air beds in JUST.

I was impressed with the living area but have to agree with another review that the groundsheet lifted at the side door as well no matter how hard we tried to resolve this issue .

I bought my Nevada 4 from Raglan Kite and Camping Centre too! With the same tip from the salesman we have had no issue with the tent side door. On our second trip this week we had a night of heavy rain and no obvious leaking. I find it easy to put up on my own and there is plenty of ventilation although we have suffered from condensation which takes a while to dry. I really like the tent and think it looks great on site

Love this tent - just come back from our 1st proper camping holiday & we are addicted - through rain & shine this tent has been a pleasure to be in for 10 days. So easy to pitch (even for newbies), carpet gives a real feel of warmth & comfort and foot print really makes packing away very simple. We love the big windows that let the light flood in & the printed kids room was a huge hit for our two little girls.

Just been camping for 10 nights in my new Nevada 4 . Brilliant! It rained heavily for 4 days and not a drop entered this Outwell tent. May be because it was new, but I noticed that whilst most other tents on the campsite looked damp and soggy, water fell off mine like from a duck's back. The canopy stopped rain rushing in when I opened the door. Yes, the door is a bit tight, but as the salesman showed me a Raglan Kite and Camping centre, all you need to do is pull one of the poles towards the door whilst operating the zip. I liked the door being well stretched. I was also considering the Outwell Carolina 3 , but think I made the right choice. The sewn in ground sheet works well and comes a few inches up the walls. Yes , some velcro on the windows would hold the curtains in place, but having a gap between the curtain and the plastic window helps to stop condensation.

I erected the tent by myself in 30 mins, as recommended by another reviewer. I also had the footprint underneath. The 1st night the rain was so bad , I had resigned myself to living in a dam wet tent for 10 days, but consequently I slept soundly knowing I would be dry.

Been camping again with it and had a problem with the ground sheet rising as with others. It's definitely related to how we erect it , as it was ok the previous time. I pulled the straps that hold the poles tighter and that seemed to improve the situation. Seems I have to write minimum 300 characters to add review, so can I add how much my 6 year old loved the kids bedroom. He loved playing the game with the balls that came with the tent, throwing them through the holes. And I could read the paper in peace.

I have been very disappointed with my Nevada 4 and agree with almost all of the previous reviewers (Woofalicious) comments. The zip on the side door is a constant irritation and it’s only a matter of time before it breaks, probably just out of the manufacturer’s warranty. To cap it all off it leaked! Yes it has a lot of good features (SIG, full head height, lots of windows and good ventilation), which are absolutely useless if the tent is not waterproof and coming in and out of it turns into a ongoing drama! A shame because it looked great on paper and yes I did also expect to get a 3 door tent! Still can't quite comprehend how such a big company managed to get the description wrong.

After reading other reviewers comments on the Nevada range of tents and the strain placed on the side door zips by the rain canopy I only bought this tent because it was described online, on the manufacturer's tags and on the diagram on the tent bag as having 2 side doors. I figured I would stick to the side door without the canopy unless it was raining. Guess what? It only has one side door and the strain on the zips made opening and closing it a misery!

To make things worse the sewn in ground sheet lifted off the ground several inches just inside the side door so every time you stepped inside it pulled on the stitching. No matter how many times we tried different ways of putting the poles through the sleeves once pulled upright the pole sleeve ended up pulling to the right side lifting the groundsheet off the ground down the left hand side of the tent.

When we also discovered the uppermost rear guy rope was short by several metres we weren't impressed. Not to mention the thoughtfully placed knots in half a dozen of the guy ropes so that you couldn't slide the tensioner downward without removing the 'pre-attached' guy ropes from the tent to undo the knots.

Overall it wasn't that well put together and after light rain, water was already pooling on both rear corners, which if the rain had persisted would have seeped into the sleep compartment.

I wasn't impressed with the window curtains, which due to too few attachment points (velcro would have helped here) billowed into the tent taking up valuable space when the doors were zipped down.

I thought a few more attachment points would have helped keep the inner tent tauter and roomier as it sagged so much in the rear it lost at least a foot of space in the sleep compartment and it was under so much tension with the straps fully released you wouldn’t be able to use the first foot of the left hand side without worrying about tearing it due to the problem with the tent pulling to the left I have already mentioned.

I tried emailing Outwell 3 times about their incorrect floorplan, twice to the rep and once via this website and they didn’t even bother replying. Luckily we were eventually able to return it to the retailer for a refund as it is not a tent I would ever like to try camping in.

Since my first Outwell tent a Montana 4 leaked in about 4 different places through the seams (replaced by the retailer) I am so not impressed with Outwell and would never buy another tent from them! You could actually see the beads oozing through and due to the sewn in ground sheet we soon had a lot of water with nowhere to go.

On the other hand my cheap tent, which only has a 1000mm hydrostatic head, has lasted 3 years and performed well in rain, wind and hail!

Being slightly nervous about using a larger tent for the first time, (2 man tents were the norm) I followed the reviews on the Nevada M, and bought the Nevada 4.

First of all, this IS a 4 man tent. 140cm wide in the larger sleeping pod is the width of a double bed and 120 is not really significantly smaller. As there was only myself, my wife and my 3yr old daughter it was more than enough. The living area is lovely and bright and a decent size.

I managed to put it up myself in about 40 mins, but I was a newbie to it so it will be much quicker next time.

One point to note is that if you follow the instructions, (which are rubbish) to the letter it is a 2 person job. Contrary to what the instructions say, pin the groundsheet FIRST, and the poles will stand by themselves while you finish the rest. You can then readjust the groundsheet if you need to.

As to the quality of the tent, it is as good as any I have used. I have a hardy 2 man mountain tent that feels just as robust as this.

As usual here in Scotland we experienced a windy night. The tent will flap about if you keep the vents (and there are many) open, but if you batten down the hatches it is steady as a rock. I am in no doubt it can take a lot more.

It poured for a couple of hours and not a single drip got in, even through the zips.

Some people mentioned slight condensation, but we had a glorious day followed by a temp drop at night followed by another glorious day and I never saw a drop.

As previously mentioned the side door zip is tight, but again that is because of the bad instructions. They tell you to open the doors when erecting the tent to let the air flow through. Naturally when you pull all the tent guylines tight you will create a larger space than there should be. All you need to do is keep the side door closed when putting up the tent and it eases the strain.

And remember the tent doesn't need to look like Cher, pulled tight all over the place. Just firm will do.

My one drop in star is the upright porch poles not being included as standard. In my opinion they are essential. Amazon sell them for about £12.

Also buy the footprint groundsheet to protect the integrated one, and the carpet to keep it warm.

All in all I love the tent and cannot wait for many more adventures in it.

PS, did I also mention it looks great!

We choose this tent for it's small but perfectly formed size and it's multitude of window/door options.

We have just returned from a weekend away in South Cumbria.

We arrived at camp quite late and were pitched, fully set up and relaxing in chairs outside in under half an hour. After 2 hours of hot,dry camping it lashed it down. The tent didn't let in a drop and thanks to the many windows we didn't feel boxed in.

The following day the weather took a turn for the better and with the large front door open we felt cool on many levels!

Typically it couldn't last and that night it bucketed it down again.Once again not a drop passed through the Nevada's Outtex fabric.

As work beckoned and the sky began clouding over the following morning we hurriedly packed up (under half an hour in total)

There is ample room for the necessities - table, chairs etc, even a couple of duffers like us pitched it with ease and it feels bright and roomy inside.

I love this tent!

It makes a weekend away feel like a week. : )

Fantastic all round tent easy to erect and take down, we have the factory made Nevada 4 footprint and carpet. Now even on them cold mornings NO condensation.

The fly screens are great and keep out the flies, good all round with the 5 light panels to sit in the dry and watch, dare I say the rain. We love this tent (me and the wife!) would recommend it to anyone. I agree with the previous review that there is a lot of tension on the side door flap
