Choose this after lots of research, we wanted a tent we could stand up in and one without a sewn in groundsheet in the living area.
Initially very pleased, I wouldn't imagine 5 people in it though! 2 adults and a child would be max in my view.
Lots of living area space.
We had problems the first time we used it with one of the front zips, it broke the night before a very windy night! Outwell totally uncontactable but shop we bought it from sent it off and replaced the fly sheet.
We are now very cautious with the zips.
Wished it came with instructions as there are lots of extra loops and clips which we have no idea what they are for.
All in all pleased but bit annoyed we had to pay extra for the awning poles, surely if its designed to take poles they should be supplied.

We wanted a tent we could stand up in and the Oregon 5 proved to be just what we were looking for.The tent seems to be very well constructed and was very quick and easy to erect(and easy to take down again) It has plenty of living and sleeping space, however there are just 2 of us. It would be extremely cramped for 5 adults, 2 adults and 2 small children would be the max. We are very happy with the tent and can't wait for our next trip.

I've had to stop using this tent because there's big patch of mildew on the inner tent (our fault), and both the long zips on the front entrance are broken (after about 34 days' use). The first couple of times I used it, I was very satisfied with the tent on the whole.
I was very impressed with the ventilation - it was the first time I've noticed that my clothes have felt nice and fresh while camping, even after 2 weeks of being packed in my case in the bedroom in the Italian heat! Previous tents have resulted in musty-feeling clothes.
The front porch is fantastic when the weather's nice; however, I found that it regularly fell down in the wind, and that it collapsed from rainwater collecting in it and making it too heavy. Realistically, it's meant that we've spent most of the time with the porch closed, which compromises the space inside somewhat.
I had a bad experience with the tent in gale force winds on the South coast last year, when several of my pegs lifted out, and I felt frightened that the tent was going to be wrecked as I battled to re-secure it. However, this was probably more to do with the poor pitch I'd been given on some very mushy ground than any fault with the tent.
My biggest concern is the zips. I blamed myself for putting the zip under too much pressure the first time it went, but the second time it happened, it didn't seem like we'd done anything wrong. The last time I used the tent, the only way to open either of the front zips was to force them open, and then follow the gap with the zipper. The zips on the other two doors are still fine. I've only ever used the tent for 2 or 3 people, and agree that it would probably be very cramped with 1 or 2 more!

We bought this after trawling through lots of reviews, like many folks we wanted a 'stand up' tent after years of crawling about in tunnel tents. We have yet to actually camp in the tent but have pitched it in the garden and I'm very pleased with it. I'm sure it will be a cracker though I think it could get cramped with 4 adults.

Managed to get one of these for a knock down price of £99 in the Go Outdoors sale. Was after a smaller tent (my other is a Monty 6) for quick trips and this certainly fits the bill. Easy to erect and packs away rather small. Found with all our equipment, three chairs and a table, the living space became cluttered, and there is an element of 'wasted' space due to the sloping front. Got the footprint, which only fits under the bedroom space, fortunately the living area groundsheet is separate and easily cleanable.
Good sized bedroom, but would only suggest is suitably sized for 3 people. Would be a little cramped otherwise.
All in all, is suitable for what I was after, but am glad that I didn't pay RRP for it. Wouldn't like to spend more than two or three days in it due to small living area, but at least you can stand up in it.

We love our tent! We bought it last summer after lots of research. We chose this as you can stand up throughout and we had a baby we needed to be able to rock and carry about. We also wanted the bedrooms adjacent (not divided by living space) so out little one was right next to us as this felt safer. We wanted spacious but easy to pitch so not too big. We did consider the bigger ones but were pleased we had chosen this size when going away for just weekends as its manageable for short stays and has plenty of practical space. I had never camped before. My husband and I are 33 and we had a 10 month old baby girl. We shopped around a lot and still preferred this one. So how did it work out?
We we have the bug and are taking it to France this summer. We had 3 trips in the summer and only stopped in October when we felt it was a bit chilly for our baby. The first was to Shambala festival in July 08. It poured down, I mean really poured down. We stayed nice and dry inside :-) We had a little water in at the front on the groundsheet (the living area is not SIG but bedroom is) from opening the door but I think that was our inexperience as you can pin it up a little, and we should have used the side door which is less sloping (the big door is very sloping so of course when you lift it the rain comes down on the groundsheet- apparently this is difficult to avoid in general). It was also very windy but our tent felt very sturdy despite our inexperienced pitching).
Due to its colour its much lighter inside than many tents, and you can ventilate it well with lots of doors & windows. We did not get any troublesome condensation, despite using EHU with heater in winter. The space was just right, despite our buggies etc. It was perfect for a young family being able to unzip and have one big bedroom so we could all snuggle up to play or sleep.
I have made a small tear in the SIG groundsheet but this was my fault as I was trying to force it hammering in a a peg to stretch it a way it really would not go (I really am a novice camper) and I doubt any tent would have coped with this. It feels much stronger than many we looked at and has taken a lot of abuse from our clueless hands.
The only reason I have not give it 10 is that I don't have experience to say I have tried lots of other tents but we love it and fit it very practical.

I bought this tent after a great deal of online research. Got it for a really good end of season price and have had it pitched 3 times so far. It is very spacious for the 2 of us although I would say as a 5 man tent it would be a bit of a squeeze. One of my main reasons for going for the Oregon 5 is the height - makes it seem large & airy and it is great to be able to stand up throughout out the tent. It has 2 sleeping areas - the larger has plenty of room for a double airbed. The smaller can be used for storage or unzipped to give an additional living space - there is a door into this side so useful for bikes etc too. Very flexible - we unzipped the 2nd sleeping area on one of our trips to leave a huge bedroom. I love the glow in the dark guy ropes - they are preattached for ease of pitching too. The zips are very robust and it has withstood wind and torrential rain with no problems. I bought the additional poles to open up the front - well worth the extra. Pitched it very easily and I was very surprised at how easy it was to fit back in the bag! Lots of nice touches too like the storage pockets, thermometer and doormat! All in all I am thrilled with it - a sewn in groundsheet in the living area would have given it 10/10 but having said that, the ventilation is very good.

I bought the Oregon 5 to camp with my son & on occasions with my wife & son, so to have plenty of room as it is a tent for five people. My son & I have camped numerous times in this tent, in all kinds of weather & now, just returning from a trip away with all three of us, I can give a good all round picture of our times in this tent.
1. The tent pegs that come with it are rubbish, throw them away. Buy heavy duty steel pegs. I even suggest you buy the triangle plastic pegs (T shape)& plenty of them. Steel being good on hard ground.
2. In high winds the tent gets knocked around alot so I fix six extra guy lines, one on each corner (pulling inline with the poles over the tent). I also fix two extra lines to the lounge area end as this only has three lines & the other has five. I fix then on the poles that run over the tent, just above the pole joints & this stops them slipping down. Fix as stated & you can enjoy a wet windy nights sleep without fear of the tent collapsing in on you. If not you will experience what I did.
3. The lounge area ground sheet is poor. It would be far better to be fixed, for both ease of use, fixing & to stop those drafty nights. Fixing this sheet down is fidley, under the edges of the tent, as the tent needs to be in position so you know where to fix the sheet.
4. My son & I found the tent size just right. We used the larger room to sleep, the smaller for clothes & food storage. The lounge area was good for the telly (yes telly, some times you can catch the weather or watch a late night film)& eating area with table & chairs, so this space is usful. Having now been away with the wife as well this now tells me much more about the tent. We have two double air beds. The three room fits one in easily, the two room is really too small for a double air bed, it is pushing badley against the middle zip. The rooms I will admit, would take 5 people but Three of us in that tent started to show how space was being consumed. Now having to use the second roon as a bedroom, the clothes & food storage, the telly, table & now three chairs had become a little cramped. Five people & all there stuff, you must be joking. We go away for a week at a time & you need stuff while you are away. We have no fridge or loo but they are high on the list now & IS THERE SPACE FOR THEM?
5. We have found that not all the sites we visit are flat & that the bedrooms with there fixed ground sheet move in the corse of time (Down hill)& the elastic holding the fly sheets is pulling with such force they have now started to rip the fly sheets, there is also a lot of pull against the zips. My thoughts are there should be a better way of fixing the fly sheets of the bedrooms to the tents, maybe an inner pole system? but simple.
All in all, I think this tent is a good buy. It is easy to erect & dismantle & pack away & not to bulky or heavy. Given a second chance to buy this tent again I would have to say no, as the fixed ground sheet is a must to keep out the draughts & bugs. If this is changed then it would be a yes but for no more than three.

Bought on recommendation, used it once. I was not impressed with this tent at all. Maybe it'd been over-hyped by my Outwell-obsessed friend, but I just didn't like it. It was very draughty, and the condensation was atrocious. It's probably good as a warm-weather tent, but unless you want indoor rain, it's only good for June/July/August.

Bought an Oregon 5 after a poor weather experience in an Ariel A300 tunnel - we needed more room for self, wife and teenage daughter especially in bad weather. Used it recently in Shropshire where one night was horrendous (wind/rain) but we woke fully secure and dry. Enough room in the living area for 3 chairs a small table and a cooking unit. Options to open different doors depending on prevailing winds so cooking on the in/out boundary was possible.
I was a bit concerned about stability in high winds but it seemed to cope. However the tent comes as one unit (fly+inner) and we set it up as such on slightly sloped ground and found the inner touching the outer. Eventually I decided to detach the hooks joining inner and outer at bottom and felt positioning the inner was more reliable. Not sure why there's a skirt only around the living end - part of me feels that's cutting corners but as mentioned it didn't cause a problem. Looking at other reviews I'm not sure I got the pitching quite right because I was aware of more movement of the outer than on many tents on the site in the wind and I'm not 100% sure I like the way the tape that pulls in the poles are fixed but perhaps that is standard. Also the bedroom mesh and hooks seem to be under tremendous tension when in place - but I guess we wait to see how this holds up. With airbeds, I doubt you'd get 3+2 combination, whilst if you were minimising by using carrymats, I doubt you'd carry a tent this heavy - but perfect for the 3 of us.
Overall a very good tent which has much to offer - able to stand, storage pockets, door options, windows, good ventilation, good living space - and made our camping experience a fun one.
