Great family tent. Build quality is better than its peers. The awning allows you to keep the wet stuff from the living quarters. The footprint is helpful for obvious reasons and the carpet gives it a good feel, the kids stretch out on it. We use the Vermont for our longer stays and the Monterey 5 for weekend trips.

We had a Vermont L and loved it. However, having only owned it for the three years, the tent roof material has perished and split beyond repair. Very disappointing as it has been well-looked after and maintained properly. My husband is very particular about these things. Not what you would expect from an Outwell tent. Not money well-spent and would not buy another Outwell tent for this reason. We were referred to a company in Scotland who might be able to fix it if we posted the tent to them at our cost, but Outwell were not interested in any further correspondence. Very, very disappointing!

Love this tent, plenty of room which is great if its wet and muddy as you can dump your muddy gear in the front part and keep the back half nice and clean! we've had it a few years now and been in all sorts of weather from 29c in Cornwall to -3 in a force 8 gale in the snow in the lakes and its never let us down! I recommend purchasing some long tent stakes for when its really windy! no matter where we go or when we always get admiring comments from other campers! the only downside is space it takes up in the car! but it will fit in the boot of a Mondeo! oh and I cant lift the bag the poles come in as I apparently am feek and weeble (so my husband tells me!)
We are now looking to buy a smaller Outwell tent as it does take a while to put up which is great for 4 days + but too much work for 1-2 nights!

We have an Outwell Vermont L tent which we purchased last year. We have stayed in the tent only once so far but have booked three camping holidays for this year and are looking forward to enjoyable times. Our last tent was a Outwell Hartford L but we needed something bigger. The Vermont L provides a fantastic space having separate bedrooms, lounge area and eating/ kitchen area. The built in wardrobe is great for storing clothes , making it possible to spend longer on holiday. Previously in the Hartford tent we would only go away for a maximum of 4 nights, now we are contemplating going to France for 2 weeks next year. The Vermont is a great family tent sleeping 4 comfortably, 6 would be a real squeeze. The Vermont does not need a jumbo tent pitch so cheap to pitch too.

Fabulous tent,
We have just returned from our 4th holiday in it, we have the Montana 6 front canopy which gives us even more room, although many sites say its too big to pitch. We have the footprint groundsheet and the carpet. We are a family of 5 and just fit in the sleeping area, but have to use two double airbeds and one single and it just fits!, you would be pushed to sleep 6 people. We have had lots of rain, wind, etc and the tent has held up well, we love the fact that we can zip up the living area, this is very handy on a chilli evening to keep the tent warm. Our only dislike is the wardrobe, we found the clothes rail kept falling down, so we haven't used it for the past 3 hols and we have even more room, a sewn in groundsheet in the porch would be an advantage to stop wind and draughts. We love our tent and wouldn't change it, we hope we get many more happy hols out of it! We find it very easy to pitch, we all get stuck in and are now quite experts at it lol. A very impressive tent.

This is a brilliant tent. We upgraded to this after several years camping in an old Outwell Indiana and the Vermont has been the ideal replacement. We chose it because it has so much space for everyone and for the SIG which makes it a lot less drafty in the bedrooms. We love the huge porch which we have had completely rolled up in very hot weather and have all sat in comfortably in very chilly weather. It is an investment purchase but we wouldn't swap it for anything. Love Outwell love camping!

What more is there to say about this tent that hasnt already been said? We had ours up for 2 weeks in the November gales and it never budged an inch nor did it let in any water. Ours has been well used for 3 seasons now in all types of weather and the only problems we have had is the roof is now a bit discoloured & one of the storm skirts has a 2 inch tear in it. The only real improvements I would like to see is the addition of an eyebrow canopy over each of the side doors and OH would like a mesh screen on the front porch door (We were invaded by wasps in Swanage in August). We have NEVER had any problems with it due to its size as it does fit on a standard C&C Club pitch although I do agree with Keithicles that it is always worth telling a campsite the size of your tent when booking. Be warned though at nearly 50kg this is a very heavy tent however I find it very easy to put up and can do it on my own. Would I buy another Outwell Vermont YES

I agree with all the good things said about this tent, it is a super tent, a pleasure to use and well worth the money. My only criticism is it needs some blackout material above the sleeping compartment, as the ceiling lets in too much light in the morning. Some sites have a hysterical seizure when they see the size of the thing and start demanding more money, but I refuse to accept this as other sites seem capable of providing large enough pitches in the first place. However, this has been an issue with several sites I have tried to book with. I think it is worth mentioning you have a big tent when booking, to be sure they don't have a problem. We have had about 10 wonderful holidays in ours with 5 dogs and it is still good as new. It has never leaked, the only damp we have had has been through condensation. On our last holiday we had quite a few heavy downpours and some scary wind, and were the only tent on site. The caravanners seemed quite disappointed we were still dry and comfortable! To put it up, I have found it best if we thread all the poles through, then I climb inside, open all the doors and windows and stand the poles up 'weightlifter' style from inside while my partner pegs out the guy lines outside. This stops the suction effect dragging the poles back down as you try to stand them up, and makes light work of the job. Hope this helps somebody.

We have had the Outwell Vermont L for four years now and absolutely love it! Everywhere we go, the tent attracts comments from other campers and caravanners as it does look quite impressive when it's up. In fact, the tent itself is probably as long and as wide as a touring caravan so you can understand why it gains such attention!
As a few other reviews have commented, we had a few minor leaks during the heavy rains of 2007 (due to a faulty batch) but took it back to Caseys in Chester and they swapped it for another no problem. Since then we have had plenty of leak-free camping and the tent certainly stands up to the wind too!
There is loads of living space and the bedroom cabins are pretty adequate - Although the specification states 6 berth, we only have 2 adults and 1 child sleeping so we're very comfortable. Think it would be a squeeze to sleep 6 but could easily accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.
We love the fact that the main living area can be completely zipped up, leaving the front area as a kitchen/utility area (and a good place for leaving your shoes too!). This keeps the sewn-in groundsheet clean and dry as we tend to only use the side doors for ventilation.
We haven't succumbed to buying the wall-to-wall carpet yet (probably only a matter of time) but we have just purchased the Montana 6 front canopy, which I believe is compatible with the Vermont L. Hopefully this will help to keep the entrance area of the tent drier, especially when going in and out of the tent via the front door in wet weather! Will try this out for the first time when we head off to Herefordshire next week!
We considered buying the new side extension but, to be honest, as we don't tend to use the side doors we couldn't really see the point!
Be aware that the tent bag and poles are quite bulky and can take up a lot of room in a car so a roof box and/or trailer would be a good idea. With only having 1 child, we used to carry the tent as a 4th passenger and strapped it in by a seatbelt with the poles lying in the rear footwell! At least it was easy to access when we got to our destination! We've since bought a trailer and so it now goes in the boot of the car.
Pitching the tent is very straightforward. There was even a demonstration video on the Outwell website showing you what to do. We have it down to a fine art now and we can have the footprint down and the tent in an upright position in under 20 minutes. It just takes a bit longer to do all the pegging out!
Every year we look at other tents but haven't yet seen anything that we think is better than the Vermont L. Can see us using this tent for a good few years to come!

We LOVE this tent!
The size is perfect for our family of four, with some growing room. We're an untidy bunch but the design and layout helped us to get organised. The Vermont is so simple to erect and took us (novices) just under an hour. We had almighty rainstorms, thunder and lightning, near gale force winds and blistering sunshine and this baby stood up to it all! In fact, during the winds it barely moved!
Our local dealer advised us to buy a Montana plus extension as we really wouldn't need all this space but he was so wrong! My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner! :O)
