Well it was a real saga to find one of these tents and I'm very glad we did. We've just had our first trip in it and we love it!We are a family of 5, with kids aged 9,7 and 4. We loved the space which meant we weren't tripping over each other when inside at night. The panorama room was enjoyed by us all and all the windows made it so bright; it was a big improvement on our last tent. We were on an exposed hillside and it was very windy, but the tent stood absolutely rock-solid. It didn't rain, so I can't comment on the rain at the front door issue.

We are very pleased with this tent - it was well made, solid in the wind, bright and spacious, just perfect for us. And we were only away for the weekend but it didn't seem to big - pitched in around 45 mins even though we're new at this camping lark!

The previous reviews say most of what I would, it's a fabulous tent & it's massive!

I would add that the tent would benefit from the addition of a rain porch. It rained almost constantly on our 5 night stay & it would have been lovely to not have to squeeze through a small gap in the zip in an attempt to keep the inside of the tent dry! It's not a big deal though as it made for lots of giggles.

An insect screen on the front door would also be a nice addition so you could still appreciate the view & get fresh air without letting the bugs in.

Please be aware, the drying poles are not provided as stated on some adverts (most have removed this feature from their sites now) however the lovely people at the Family Tent Shop sent us some & they proved to be very handy when drying wet towels & clothes as there was no chance of doing it outside. Also they were useful for hanging lights from as there is no light hook in the front porch. Hopefully Outwell will rethink their decision to remove the poles from the package & will include them on next years model.

I loved the tent but have purchased a Trout lake 4 for weekend trips as the Vermont is a bit of effort to pitch & pack away for a short trip. The Vermont XLP is perfect for the larger family (or like us, a smaller family wanting lots of space) for trips lasting longer than a couple of days.

We just love the XLP, have used her twice now & the space is just amazing. I must confess there is only 2 adults so it really does deliver on so many levels for us.

It's still taking us a few hours to pitch, though we shave time off it, as it's been a big learning curve for us.

We wanted a tent that had a large enclosed canopy integral to the main tent. The panorama room offers us so much space, we can cook on one side, keep the fridge & cupboards on the other & still have masses of room.

We use the small bedroom as the en suite & the other 2 as one large bedroom. The wardrobe holds all clothes & shoes so the tent is easy to keep tidy.

The option of having it all open plan or 2 separate rooms is also great, the tent is so light & airey & the ventilation is fantastic. No condensation inside, even after a heavy dew.

We had strong winds one night & this tent does not budge.

Someone on site described her as being like a bungalow & yes she is! Being able to walk around, use different entrances, king poles included thus giving us further options, it's such a pleasure!

The Outwell quality is excellent, worth the money for sure.

Looking forward to many years with our *Vee*, our forever tent!

We chose the Vermont XLP as we wanted a tunnel tent with 3 bedrooms . We only have 2 girls, but thought a room each would help avoid any arguments and also give us room to grow into the tent!

We found pitching it was fairly straightforward . But didn't use the Outwell method . It's a far too heavy tent . We raise a pole at a time. The only tricky thing is getting the panoramic front taut. The first two times we pitched it the front was positively flappy in the wind and rain, and we had water ingress. Third time we got the hang of it, pulling the front door taut first, pegging that, then the sides next to the door, then the final smaller panoramic panels . There's definitely a knack to this, but it's worth perservering!

The tent itself we found was very spacious, and even on rainy days we didn't find we got on top of each other.

The front porch had plenty of space for out kitchen, larder, table and benches, plus shoes, cool box etc etc.

We use the three bedrooms with the two side ones having a single air bed with plenty of walking room, and the middle room a double air bed and room for nothing else! (See photos I've posted!)

The three rooms can be opened up into two and one or just one big room.

The lounge area is huge . And the wardrobe a godsend for hiding all the mess!

The new model has hanging rails in the porch which we used for kitchen utensils, kitchen roll, hanging lights and suspending some ikea shelves for our bits and bobs!

The material for the bedroom pods is a lot darker than previous models so much better for sleeping! And the tinted windows are a good touch. The zipped curtains are great too.

The main downside is the fact the rain gets in the sloping front door when you open it . Shame Outwell don't do a front extension for this model . But we are looking at buying a canopy to resolve this problem next year!

We've posted several photos of the inside of the tent.

Overall we would say it's a fabulous tent . We have had to weather torrential rain and horrendous wind, but always felt snug and safe inside this gorgeous tent!

Absolutely fantastic tent, there are 7 of us, 2 adults and 5 children aged 3-17 years old. And it is perfect size for us all to have loads of room to move freely, it's warm and comfortable. The bedroom sizes are ample. We used the front porch as a kitchen area and it is perfect. I would highly recommend this tent to friends and family, or anyone else that should ask my review. I look forward to looking at awnings to add on to our space.

We camped for the first time, and first pitch in Cornwall, amongst 30-40mph gusts, rain light and heavy. We stayed dry, draft free, and enjoyed seeing the rain bounce off our tent. We camped with 4 kids and 2 adults and found the tent to be spacious enough for our kids to play games in the main room whilst us adults sat watching the rain through the lovely tinted windows. It took us 60 minutes to pitch it, excluding guy ropes which took another hour, using the Outwell's technique, but it was our first time and I'm sure we'll get faster. It took 45 minutes to pull down. It however took another 120 minutes to put all our stuff in it, yes it's that big. The tinted windows provided a limited form of privacy with the windows flaps open, as long as you didn't through a light on in the front it was nearly opaque from outside. With the side flaps open, the tent cooled quickly when hot, with them closed it stayed warm.

Now to the bad.

By the end of our 2 weeks camping, we had one rear toggle on the left hand inner bedroom break, but without any real detriment to the tent's performance, or comfort. The taped seems on the tent were not neat around the windows in one place. Splaying the panoramic front end out couldn't be done in a tight manner, which resulted on one occasion of a small puddle of water entering the tent front due to a pitching error, which when corrected prevented any more incoming of water under the front. In addition one of the front splays tore when we pulled the tent peg out.

With that said, its a great tent, and would recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to going camping again in our tent.

I shall from now on insist that this Tent be known as the Vermonster.

Have Just came back from Cornwall after wind rain and sunshine!

This year was my first camping holiday as a family for 8 years due to the fact that when I convinced my wife all those years ago how great camping was it rained none stop!

So after a bit of convincing this year was my last chance saloon!

After reviewing all tents that would give me space and quality I went for the Vermont XLP.

I ordered the tent on Monday and received it by Thursday leaving for hols on Saturday so no time to trial run set up.

Ok so this is how it goes never set up before took me and a friend 45 mins all poles the same easy!

Quality as you would expect from Outwell, we had wind rain and sunshine all in one week and had no problems what's so ever!

Space is great with 2 adults and 2 Children, we also bought the carpet which I would say is a must, it adds a bit of comfort.

To top it all the wife had a great time and is looking forward to next year! Can you believe it!

One thing only could do with lantern hook in front section that is all I found as an issue

(was it worth mentioning)

If you want a tent then this is it unless you have a couple of grand to throw about!
