Having read the reviews I was expecting this to be a bit of a pig to put up but we were very surprised by the ease of pitching & that it wasn't as heavy as we expected. This could be because we have come from a heavy big tent (Vango Zambezi 700 DLX) which took longer to pitch that the Wolf 7.
We keep the ZIG attached & just unzip the canopy which makes things very quick to pitch, it is heavy to pull up but me & OH manage just fine & I'm not the strongest of girlies! Being a tunnel tent its very easy & quick to assemble & get up. We took 45 mins for our first attempt which for us compared to our Zambezi is quick!
The space is great inside & we love having an upright door, lots of little pockets for storage, our only gripe is the '3' bed is smaller than we're used too & feels shorter in length, had a few head touching moments in strong breeze! What is great is that our littlest is in the room next to us which has a zip thru so I can still lie in bed but unzip to her once she wakes!
The side extension is tricky to put up as getting the guy ropes over the top of the wolf is not easy but hopefully thanks to some tips of attaching tings to the guy ropes it will be easier next time!
I have to say after our first outing I am already in love with the Wolf Lake 7 for the feel of quality, space, ease & storage that it gives us. Am looking forward to the next 2 weeks in France to test out how much cooler polycotton is compared to polyester!
We paid approx £1200 for the whole package including, tent, carpet, footprint & side extension. Yes its a whole heap of money but as we camp for approx 50 days a year & live in the UK where the weather is pretty random we feel its a worthwhile investment for the quality & stability of what you get.

What can I say, this tent is worth every penny, we had bear lake 4 previously and that was fantastic, so we saved up the penny's and bought the wolf lake 7 with carpet,we have been gales where every other tent has been flat and the wl was still stood up, it's pure quality, we have had people coming up and asking what tent it is as they can see the quality, yes it is heavy and does need 2 to put it, me and the wife can do it, if you have the cash and it's something your sure your sticking with it's worth the money.

As everyone says this is an amazing tent. Just got back from a week in North Norfolk and experienced rain, wind, sun, heat, cold etc. And the Wolf Lake 7 handled it with ease. Its well worth the money and would recommend for family weeks away, not sure about weekends yet.
The tent is really heavy and four of us put it up. Will be buying a trailer as the tent and poles are large.
Only downside is that you need to make sure the tent is really dry when packing up or reset up when you get home, otherwise mould will grow.
Knew all of the above when purchased and gave 9 out of 10 as I would like Outwell to provide an awning option for the front of the tent.
Happy Camping.

What can I say that has not already been said?Fantastic, spacious tent.Don't be intimidated by the size of it.It is really no bigger than most modern large tents. Once you know how to put it up,it is pretty straight forward,we watched the Outwell Wolf lake 7 utube video on putting it up.And it was all we needed. It is heavy, but it is worth the effort it is beautiful, lets in a lot of light and is luxurious. It is more a summer tent,as it has masses of ventilation, which means,it does not necessarily retain heat. But hey if you're paying for a hook up.You can have the heater running all day.
A fantastic tent.I love it!

This is my second wolf 7. The first had a fault in the ground sheet and we reported it to World of Camping. After receiving our photos, Outwell arranged for the whole tent to be collected and a new 2012 model to be shipped out; superb customer service.
The tent itself is heavy as previously stated, but understandable for what you get. We camped out in same pretty bad weather in the lakes and hardly noticed the wind through the night.
I found it very easy to erect and the zip in ground sheet was an excellent idea for when putting up in bad weather. It is the first tent I have had that has clip in rooms, which I was a little unsure about at first, but the kids think it is great and having that 3rd room for all our clothes etc keeps the tent tidy(and the wife happy)
All in all a great tent that I expect to get at least five years out of, based on around 6-9 trips a year. Based on this I think it is great value for money.

I felt I had to confirm what has already been said about this brilliant tent.
I used it for 2 weeks in the Scottish Highlands August last year and for a week in Norfolk last week.
Yes it is heavy, I now put the footprint, groundsheet and carpet into a separate bag ( cheap awning bag from towsure), however it is worth the hassle, this tent is huge, well built, can withstand harsh weather, stays cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather than most other tents. It is quiet and doesn't flap about like polyester tents.
Is quite quick to erect and take down (1 hr 30min with a bit of practice).Min 2 people req'd.
It is spacious , we've had 8 people around 2 tables to eat inside when the weather was iffy.It provides comfort, space, quality and reassurance it will withstand all weathers.
Take a folding step with you if you are under 6ft otherwise you will struggle to put up the canopy, bedrooms and light.

Just look at the reviews and that says it all, best tent around by far. We had a polyester Hartford xl to start with but it got too hot when the sun was on it, and we had to wrap up warm in the evening even with the heater on, now with 'wolfie', we hardly use the heater at all and it also stays much cooler in full sun but there are so many options for venting the tent.
The extension was also very useful on out 10 day stint at Hendra in Newquay in July/august, it fits the tent so snugly that no rain could get in at the joints between tent and extension unlike some tents the gap is huge. It could have done with a groundsheet for it like the front porch has on the tent, but I'll just make my own.
Erecting it as one is not something I would try again as the tent with the tub zipped in was just too heavy to lift, but we found that it wasn't a bad thing as we could pack up completely in the rain, we even unzipped the tub, dried it out packed it up leaving only the flysheet and footprint to pack wet, then when back home I could erect the flysheet on my own quite easily to dry it.
It's very high and loads of space inside we had 7 people sat in it at one time 4 on reclining chairs, we got our dream tent in the end after a polyester tent and a smaller polycotton tent (Yukon river 6) but now I believe we have found camping perfection, as I say, the reviews speak for themselves

We saw this tent at a yeomans show and fell in love with it. No matter how many times we read the reviews and read about the size of the bags and weight we were still amazed at the sheer size of the 2 bags it comes in. These bags are huge and heavy. This is probably the only downside to this tent however is a small price to pay for the tent you get when you open the bags.
If you are thinking of buying one watch the yeomans of ambleside video on youtube of them pitching a bear lake 6 and follow that to pitch it.The instructions that come with the tent are useless and the Outwell video way of pitching seemed as though it would be too heavy for us to lift.
We managed to wait 3 days before excitement took hold and we simply had to try the tent out, even just for one night.
We bought the footprint which helps when pitching to keep the tent square as well as protecting the groundsheet. We lay the tent out, pegged the back corners then put the assembled poles in one at time lifting the tent one pole at a time. We began at the back.Once the first pole was in the rest was easy. We were a bit nervous to pitch this but although heavy it is straightforward and easy.
The groundsheet zipped in straightforwardly with no problems.
The bedrooms are a great size although to clip the pods into the tent my husband at 5'10 couldnt reach the roof so he had our 10yr old on his shoulders. In future we may leave these pods attached. One bedroom takes a double air bed with space for bags/clutter to the sides. The other two bedrooms took a single air bed with loads of kiddie clutter space, but would easily take double airbeds.
The living space is more than ample and will easily take all the usual clutter and storage options us campers possess,as well as space for kids to play or adults chat if the weather turns rubbish.
The canopy was great late evening when the kids were in bed to just sit and relax,it feels like sitting outside but cosier. We also cooked under this canopy.
Overall this is an amazing tent, which screams stability and strength as well as looking great.
Taking it down is straight forward and doesn't take long.Once again the footprint came in handy as we were able to fold the tent without it touching the grass so keeping it clean.
The price tag for this tent is well worth it for the quality you get.
We cant wait for our main holiday to stay in it for the week.
If you are trying to make a decision on which tent to buy then go for this as you certainly wont regret it,just be aware the bags are heavy to lift in and out of the car ,and they are big to store. However these problems are soon forgotten once the tent is out of the bag and up.

If it were mathematically possible we would score our beautiful spacious eye catching, talk of the sites Wolfie as perfection, ( yes it even has its own pet name!) Outwell have thought of everything, not just all the tiny design detail too many to mention, the big stuff like polycotton fabric, poles, sewn in groundsheet, porch, windows, D door, zip seals, size, layout, it all adds up to a safe dry comfortable proud tent to pitch and own. Other tents all have these features but Outwell shouts quality style design and durability. We nearly gave up camping but after going to a tent show and seeing the Wolf Lake it was love at first feel, also the polycotton Outwells were the only tents dry inside at the show.
We had just come back from being soaked in our old polyester with broken carbon poles, it didn't take a genius to work out Outwell tents are in a different league, with our faith restored we realised we would have to buy the whole package= foot and carpet, blow the cost! It has been an inspiring purchase as we keep adding more gear, Outwell of course! Not to mention the trailer to put it all in! Many talk of the weight and pitching, however in the secret world of our own garden both these issues vanished after our first pitch, we didnt want to take it down. The rain forecast stopped play and it was packed away in no time, we then waited two desperate months to go away without a care in the world for the weight or pitching.
We follow the concertina method, lay out flat, insert poles x five, peg out rear, concertina all poles together to rear of tent, feed cross straps, insert pegs into poles, with one adult either side lift poles and pull forward until tight, keep left hand on porch pole, with main front porch guy line in right hand pull guy and porch forward in one tight movement releasing the pole as you go, peg out front guy, and the rest is easy, make sure the poles look straight down the sides (ie square) and the D door is easy to open before pegging the sides too much, when taking down concertina poles to rear,(ie reverse of pitching) take out poles, roll up and bag tent in concertina shape, it works for us!
We enjoy pitching the Wolfie because of the satisfaction we feel living in complete comfort. Yes camping can be luxury.

I'm adding a comment to a previous review as we have now had this tent for over a year and have had the worst weather ever on our last trip. The WL7 took rain, hail, wind and thunderstorms in it's stride with never a leak, nor a wobble.I did end up putting in a few extra pegs for security having done a minimal peg out in the fine weather. Six of us made it through everything dry and in relatively good humour (space helps!). My only comment is that when you are swimming in mud it would be nice to have a cover on the front awning to take your boots off and leave them in the dry.I'm sure Outwell will have seen this coming and will produce one eventually!
