Decided to try weekend camping and found this one in our local ads. Checked it out using reviews from this website & decided it fitted our requirements. For a mature couple, it is ideal size: plenty of room in bedroom for necessary airbeds! Living area perfectly adequate for 2 - wouldn't be big enough for more. Was fairly easy to put up, but we need more practice to get to the reported 20 mins! Could do with fly screen doors and one of the doors opening bottom to top to be used as a canopy & stop drips entering after rain. Condensation after a cold night, but dried out within an hour. Overall well pleased with our bargain & looking forward to our second outing!

We have had an Evolution 400 for 5 summers now and it is an absolutely cracking tent. It has withstood gale force winds and torrential rain 3 times on a Cornish hillside and only once was it so severe that 2 of the carbon fibre rods snapped. The canopy seems to reduce water entry when you unzip the tent in the rain somewhat. It has also seen many festivals, all in all it has been out around 20 times for up to a week at a time so if you were planning a longer stay away in it, it remains comfortable. The fitted carpet is definitely a plus however you may wish to consider adding velcro or tabs to keep it in place. Pitch time for 2 of us is under 10 minutes now. Packing away takes a little longer to get the air out but this can be helped by leaving the doors 1/4 unzipped.
There are a couple of drawbacks to the tent and that is due to the curved design, you do tend to lose some living/sleeping area. We use campbeds in the sleeping area (can fit 2) and store our gear under the beds to max out the living space. The taped seams do tend to deteriorate after a few years and we now have leakage (only minor) in the V area at the front, however you can buy repair kits to patch this up. Our biggest bugbear with the tent is the lack of flyscreen on the main doors. It is a design flaw Sunncamp need to address - then this really would be the perfect tent.
Overall a great tent and 5 summers of use is testament to how good it is!

Just been away for the first time in this tent, after a bargain buy on Ebay. We used it for two plus a dog and this meant there was plenty of room in both the sleeping and living areas. Wouldn't like to use it for more people - unless you like it cosy!
Easy to put up/take down (15 mins each way) - did most of it myself with my 11 year old son just lending his hand for a couple of minutes.
Stood up to the wind and rain with no problem. It was very cold at night and we had rather a lot of condensation, noticeably in the living area where it dripped down onto the floor. This was quickly solved by opening the large vent at the front each morning for an hour. We had to close this however the rest of the time as it did let in the cold wind. Shame the outer doors do not have a secondary mesh - this would make the tent much better and allow ventilation whilst keeping the dog in! Big front windows make it very light in the living area when you need to sit in.
All in all a great tent, with plenty of head height and good quality for such a low price. For us a fabulous tent for two - we would use our bigger one for family trips away.

A fabulous tent. Me and my partner had just a little three man tent before feeling it was time to let go and move on to bigger and better things! we went shopping at a tent warehouse one which has all of its tents erected. This was pretty much the only one which caught our eye as it is not too big but when you go inside you can actualy stand up! This tent holds three of us myself, partner and our dog our first thought was to le the dog sleep in the 'conservatory' (outer compartment) and we would have the bedroom but she was not happy with that so now we have both of us on our vry large double blow up matress, the dog bed and the dog all in the bedroom with plenty of room to spare! It is so easy to put up as well ( no arguments.Bonus)i would be able to do it myself in minutes but would need another person to lift once the poles are in. : )

A brilliant tent, easy to erect. Very good for a couple. We have used it for two weeks in France, a week in Oct/Nov in Belgium, a week in UK and various weekends. Our only complaint is the sloping doors are difficult to open in wet conditions without letting the rain in. We investigated the Sunncamp canopy but felt it very over priced for what you get. I found a new Vango large canopy on ebay for just over £20 and thought nothing to lose, and ordered. It fitted really well and gave us enough space for a cooker and table as well as keeping the rain out. It extended the tent and gave us a very comfortable extra room.

My partner and I bought the evo this year, and so far so good, seems like a cracking little tent. Just like the other reviews, problem keeping water from running in when you open the doors, couple of small drips from sky light, mind due the heavens opened like never before. Hoping next time we will be drip free. Also would be lovely to have bug nets on doors:)

Went away for the weekend to north Wales and used the tent for the first time it was easy to erect with the colour coded poles and we were amazed at the amount of room in them. On the night time the heavens opened up and I mean opened up but there were no leaks. It stood up really well to the elements. I suppose if there is a down side its no fly screen on the doors but I'm not complaining about that, its a nice tent to have.

Already being the very proud owners of a Vango Aspen 700, last year we started to look at smaller tents. The idea being that it would be easier for us to do short breaks with a smaller tent, using alongside it, a day tent for all our cooking gubbings. After much wandering-around of camping shops we clapped eyes on the Evolution 400 - and the rest, as they say, is history!
What a great tent this is. There are four of us, two adults and two (rescue) Labradors, and we all fit in without any trouble at all. The day tent is our 'living room' and so the Evolution is used purely for sleeping and getting changed in. We can easily fit our king-size aero bed into the sleeping area. Because of the sloping sides to the sleeping area, I'd say you're better off with a bed that is lower to the ground - as opposed to one of those inflatable beds that are almost as high as a normal bed.
If we didn't have the day tent it would be a bit of a squeeze for us all - but the set up we've now got works a treat.
Having got used to putting the Vango up (which took some getting used to) the Evo 400 was a breeze. It goes up in no time at all, everything is colour-coded and the greatest test of all is that me and hubby managed to get the tent up first time around - without having any 'words'! We haven't had any leaks, the air vents are a nice little touch - and needed during the summer. The only slight downside is that we notice that we get more condensation in the Evo 400 but to be honest, once you get the doors open it soon disappears. I agree fly screens would be useful - it is a shame, when the evenings are warm, not to be able to have the doors open - unless you want to share the tent later with a load of bugs!
In conclusion, if you are a couple looking for a tent that is easy to erect, lightweight and has a good sleeping area, you can't go far wrong with the Evo 400.

Bought the Evo 400 this year and have used it for a week in Wales with no problems despite the best efforts of this glorious British summer to prove otherwise. Loads of room for two, both in the sleeping and the living areas. It's great to be able to stand upright (I'm 5'10') and as has been said there's plenty of space for chairs and table if you can't get outside and is bright and airy with the doors and windows. Easy to erect and when you're done you can actually get everything back in the bag! Minor bugbear was when opening wet doors, because of the sloping sides the water usually wanted to come inside the tent so you had to be careful, still worth top marks though.

This is a great tent to pitch and use. We have had two trips and some rough weather in which the tent held up well. We were so impressed the we sold our Montana 6. We also own the 300 for weekend but really this tents that easy to pitch and pack it does it all. The carpets well worth the cost.Excellent tent recommend it.
