Fantastic tent, I have just come back from a 4 day camping trip.
There is lots of living space, which luckily as it only rained once, I didn't really need. I pitched the tent in the rain, and only had a small amount of water collected at the front, which considering the downpour, this was nothing.
Due to the size of tent, it is not easy to erect, and after only four trips, the springs in one of the poles has snapped, and several others are clearly on their way out also.
I have written to Vango (yesterday) because whilst poles are outside the warranty, I would expect the springs to last more than 4 times.

This is a message from Vango regarding the pitching DVD for the 2009 Amazon 600 and 800.
To ease the pitching and improve the stability of the 2009 Amazon tents we have changed the canopy pole and attachment system.
According to the pitching DVD you have 2 canopy poles which have holes in the upright section. However, as you may have noticed, all of the upright poles are now the same and therefore do not have holes in them.
The canopy now has a guyline which should be pegged to the ground at the base of the upright pole, meaning you no longer have to clip a hook into one of the holes in the upright pole.
As a result of this:
Amazon 600 now has 10 standard steel upright poles, not the 8, and 2 canopy poles with holes as mentioned in the DVD.
Amazon 800 now has 12 standard steel upright poles, not the 10, and 2 canopy poles with holes as mentioned in the DVD.

The Amazon is a great tent,a bit daunting putting it up at first but its quite easy after a while. The three bedrooms are great, the middle being bigger than the two sides we put two double airbeds in the side s and a double and our camping wardrobes in the centre so loads of space .
The living area and the front porch area are great roomy and enough space to keep a family of 5 out of each others way.I would recommend this tent for families of 5 or more but watch out for sites that do not accept this size of tent

Love this tent! was very hesitant to give up my old 6 berth frame tent, forced by expanding family, then we found this. We had nearly 2 weeks in truly awful weather. Rain like I've never seen, gale force winds, quagmire mud. The tent took everything and didn't let us down, not a drop of rain in, or any wind damage. Footprint ground sheet is worth it's weight in gold, but the carpet doesn't seem very hard-wearing. The space is fantastic, particularly appreciated when forced to spend long periods in it, with five kids, every square inch was appreciated. We could have a picnic table, a camp table, six fold up chairs, a pram, and all the accumulated 'stuff' 7 people need. My only negative was noise of fabric in high winds.

Ours is a sample version of the Amazon, but the only thing it lacks is the cable entry point. We took it to the Isle of Wight for a week in May when it poured down and the ground below was like a hippo's mudbath, but thankfully we also have the footprint groundsheet - so easier to clean than the main tent! We also have the carpet - not sure about that tho, because a bit threadbare after just the 1 week. We call our tent 'The Beast' but love its space and airiness.

We have just returned from 8 days camping in our new Amazon 800. I cannot recommend this tent highly enough if a bright and huge living area is one of your main criteria, the size of the thing provoked very favourable comments from every passer-by, a young lad summed it up best when he asked his parents 'is that a tent?', others compared it to a marquee!
We were right on the coast with a fabulous 180 degree view of the sea from our large windows, great in good weather, of which we had none!
Days of high winds straight off the Atlantic battering the tent front on with heavy rain. The tent did not budge once I added my 'Man-Pegs' at key points (there is a lot of nylon to flap though)and the only water ingress was through the bottom of the large front door (which was pushed open in the high winds) as there is no zip on the door bottoms.
I cannot really think of any other failings in the design, and on a pitch that provided a little shelter from the elements it would be perfect. I do think it is a tent for a full weeks camping, and will probably buy a much smaller one nighter tent as well.
I only wish I could post some photos of it on here as the brochure does not do it justice!

I've got one - bought it from the Outdoor Show at the NEC in Birmingham
Not a single problem with mine although some of the poles got damaged while putting it up in high winds.
Had to pester Vango a few times - all by email - and they have replaced the damaged poles now - free of charge.
They come across as a small understaffed company trying their best to handle everything - not sure if this is the case, hope so!
Repeated emails seems to be the answer.
Thats my only problem though - I love it - no other unit gives you the space and light this does and it is only £399 in most shops now!
I have the added carpet and footprint groundsheet - which I thoroughly recommend - bloody big tent to have to clean the bottom off after use! and the footprint is also a handy guide to how much space you are going to take up so allows positioning before you pitch.
Despite it's size it is a simple tent to erect and usually we are inside in under an hour - although you really need 3 people to put it up.

We purchased this tent in February from Outdoor Megastore, only to find that a front window loop was missing and another was damaged. When we finally managed to get a replacement we found the same window loop was missing, (not able to secure front window covering, so no privacy or shade from sun) we also found a pitching strap was not sewn on and one of the front guy ropes had not been finished properly. It is a shame because we love the tent size. We have not been able to get a reply from Vango, phone lines are all answering machines. Has anyone else had the same problem with this tent?
