Excellent living size, excellent height - over 6 feet, very sturdy, easy to erect . Overall very pleased.

The buts?

1. It can be fiddly to get out (especially in the night) when the fly screen is in place over the door - that has to be unzipped first, and maybe we have a faulty version but there's no facility to tie the fly sheet back out of the way. There is no zip along the bottom of that side door either - perhaps it could have been designed to zip around in the same way as the aforementioned fly sheet? As it is you have to reach down behind the vertical flap of the built in groundsheet, ie almost outside to undo the zip. Ok in the dry but not so nice on a cold wet night.

2. As someone previously mentioned the big wide front 'flap' door is tricky to zip up. You need to crawl on the floor and lean over to start it like a zip on a jacket .

3. If you don't have the above flap door pegged down the whole front moves in the wind - therefore you lose usable space inside - perhaps the tent 'floor' could have a peg loop or 2 at the front to keep it in place?

4. There are not as many 'pockets' for storage as similar designs by other makes - perhaps the bedroom doors could be narrower and then a central line of pockets could have been included?

BUT as I say these are design features that we think would have improved this tent - we are pleased with the space we have in it. And for the price we paid - £145, you would be hard pushed to get better!

Bought our tent in June for £170. This was well below the RRP price and shows the value of doing some searches on the internet before ordering. Also got the footprint (£20), which I think was worth it. We've used the tent three times since June for short breaks, including one trip where there was some heavy rain.

The tent is quite heavy because of the steel poles. However, if you don't have to carry it far, I don't think this is a problem. The advantage of the poles are that they make the tent robust: which was apparent from the way it kept its shape well and didn't move about in the wind. It accommodated two adults and two children fine + all our junk. I think it's therefore about ideal for what we wanted - a reasonably spacious 'basecamp' tent that could be used for exploring an area for a couple of days, was easy to erect and is capable of withstanding bad weather if used on exposed campsites. I'd therefore be happy to recommend it to friends.

Grabbed a bargain,£150 at Wynfields in Hull. Chose this model due to the steel tube frame.Really sturdy when erected.A real easy tent to put up and eventually take down, fits back in bag with all the bits real easy too. We spent a week in Cornwall just gone(August 2010),3 good days followed by 4 days of rain.We had no problems and felt really snug and dry. The bedroom is really big for us 2.We took the partition out and had 2 cot/campbeds with quilts on with loads of room to get up either side.

No problems with mozzies with this tent, the mesh screens are great and give an airy feeling when open. On the good days we had the front flap open and used the poles supplied to support the flap along with the guy ropes. All in all an absolute gem of a tent for us. Our next purchase will be the carpet for a bit of added luxury. We really thought we would struggle camping as we both have bad backs and I have arthritis in my knees but can honestly say that it was a joy with the tent, easy to erect and loads of room for 2 to move about easily(i am 6ft tall). We look forward to many more holidays away and using our Vango.A great tent 10/10

Just come back from ten days in Wales with this tent. It was the second time we have used it (First time was for 3 days on Shell Island) and we are very happy with it. We bought it after having our previous tent wrecked by the wind/storm on shell island last year. At that time we had a Vango Icarus which ended up virtually flat in the storm winds with 3 broken poles!

So this time we decide to go for a tent with steel poles. The Artimas is perfect for what we use it for, 2 adults and two grandchildren and with the Awning attached it gives a great amount of space for all the bits and bobs that come with kids. Yes the front door can be a bit fiddly to close with the zip along the bottom but in the nice weather and having the canopy on we did not use the bottom zip.

The tent is easy to put up and take down and if you use the pole bag as a guide when rolling it up, it goes back in to the bag easily.

The sides of the tent appear to be a bit more vertical than some other of similar design which results in less wasted space.

We also bought the carpet to match and this has proved to be a great although it does creep around a little after a couple days. But a few blobs of bluetack at each corner sorted that out. (The blue tack rolls/pulls off when packing away)

Ten years ago we used to camping with a big Cabanon frame tent and feel that the Artimas is as near as you can get to a frame tent without weight.

Overall we are pleased with the Arty and feel that we have found a tent that will last us for a long time.

I pitched this on my own with 2 little helpers !

Very easy to pitch, excellent ring and pin system and colour coded so cant go wrong.

Good size for 3/4 but 5 would be a squeeze.

The canopy is a must as I put all the cooking stuff and a big table in ours which left lots of space in the living area.

Good height as im 6 foot and can stand in the main living area but not the bedrooms as it slopes but not a hardship.

We had one day of heavy rain and no leaks.

My only reasons for not giving 10 were the door is fiddly to close up at night as you have to do the 2 side zips then insert the bottom zip but thats me being picky, and lastly I found that rain / moisture took a long time to dry off compared to my outwell tent ? could be the difference in the HH, 2000 compared to 5000 ? im not sure.

But a great tent with steel poles and perfect as a weekender or longer with the canopy.

We bought this tent to use as a smaller tent for weekend trips as the large tent took too much time in erecting and dismantling. We also purchased the porch, carpet and footprint. I love this tent! it was very quick and easy to put up and could probably be done by one as ours mainly was due to me running around after our 3 year old. The porch was used as the kitchen area, which left more room inside the actual tent. I was worried after having the luxury of space in the Diablo 900 that we would feel cramped but that was not the case. However, there was only 2 adults and one child. I feel it would be a bit of a squeeze for all five but would still be ok for four.We did have good weather, so cannot rate it durability, but do not envisage any problems with it. Would recommend it.

This tent ticks all the boxes for us, Vango have put a good deal of thought into the Artemis, it's very easy to erect, and the colour coded steel poles certainly add strength. The 500 will comfortably sleep four has an airy feel due it's large front windows, side window and side door with mosquito/fly mesh. The sewn in groundsheet keeps you snug and there are plenty of storage pockets.

For the taller folk, not me. I'm a tall dwarf, there is the added bonus of a raised middle section so loads of standing height. An added bonus-the canopy poles were included.Thumbs up from us!
