Bought the Colorado 600DLX last year, and did the back garden camping expedition - two hours to get the tent up - thankfully the neighbours were away! Luckily we've now got it down to less than 45 minutes in fine weather.

When we first took the tent away we encountered our first problem - the size, although we've not been turned away from anywhere yet, we've not been on any very busy sites that rigidly enforce the C&CC size rule, something to be aware of when looking at new tents.

The lack of a sewn in groundsheet makes it difficult to line up the toggles and makes the tent prone to draughts, I believe the newer models have a SIG.

It can prove to be a little difficult to get everything pitched correctly - a little too far over on one side makes a big difference when it's blowing a gale and there's torrential rain.

The living space is good, very light and airy - the colour does help here. However opening the door in the rain leads to water dripping in to the entrance - a separate porch would be better, one is available as an extra.

The pods are not quite roomy enough - the person against the wall does tend to get a face full of nylon if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction!

We've recently come back from a very wet few days in the lakes - we had a few problems with water ingress around the areas where the pods come from the main dome - maybe some sealant would help.

Packaging is good, there is ample room for stuffing all the canvas away.

All in all a good tent, but not a great tent.

Excellent tent plenty of living/dining room sleeping pods not too big but that keeps the heat in at night. Takes us 20 minutes to pitch when your used to it and the only fault with the old model is it as a riser ground sheet but the new model has sewn in. Cant wait to get one / never had a problem with this tent. Great family tent and most tents say 6 man but you cant get 6 in there without being on top of each other - I'm talking 2 adults and 4 teenagers. We were camping in wales in this tent when they had a very heavy rain and not once did this model of tent leak or give way in the wind.

We bought this tent for our first family outing. We have a two year old daughter and my partner is 6 months pregnant. The tent covered all of our needs. After a bit of practice, I could pitch the footprint and tent on my own letting my partner waddle to the park with our daughter. The tent is firm, secure, well made and keeps the bugs out. I set the tent up with the rooms inside prior to our adventure, making it that bit quicker too.

The rooms are neat to the point of being cozy. I like this and we got our double mattress in no problem. The youngster loved her little room in the 'mini house' and the whole experience. I would suggest that calling it 6 'man' is a bit tight, so I would say 2 adults and two kids comfortably, three couples etc, but I wouldn't expect larger kids to share a pod.

Very good quality tent that ticked all our boxes.

I bought this tent in June 2009 and used it camping for the first time at the start of July

Great Tent plenty of room for the family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids 3,9,13

This is the new 2009 model with the fully sewn in groundsheet and I am glad it did as the first time use the puddles outside were starting to creep up the side

As mentioned the rooms are neat but we managed 2 adults in one room no problem although not tried it yet with airbeds

Tent survived a torrential downpour in Scotland no problem so think it would be ok for the rest of the uk

Great tent recommended

We bought a second-hand Colorado 600DLX for our first ever family camping trip. I've camped all my life, but not since wife and kids came along, so it was new for them, and this is the biggest tent I've ever used. First outing last September was a great success - we loved the size of it and the separation of the pods, found it fairly straightforward to pitch and strike (on my own, about 45 minutes) and the whole things seems robust and well made. For the price, it's large and well made and seems good value.

Second outing this May was not as good - we were very cold at night and due to the rain started finding things we didn't quite like, such as:

- the pods really are very small. Having looked at equivalent models by Outwell (the Hartford or Michigan) and other makes, the Colorado's pods seemed badly designed so that the back wall hangs low, making it hard to fit a double mattress in without having your face full of tent fabric in the night.

- it's not as tall as it looks, particularly in the porch/front flap and as you move towards the edges of the tent. I'm 5'9 and would have appreciated more headroom.

- it lacks pockets and clips and hooks and useful things like that which we've seen in other tents

- we froze at night, partly due to the non-SIG design, partly due to the lack of groundsheet under the pods, but mainly due to the over-venting in the design. The pods have mesh vents which can't be closed and sit directly under fly vents which are guyed open permanently. Any warmth you generate gets sucked straight up and out, and cold air comes in past the groundsheet, which is a riser style (2009 model has a SIG).

- Still not succeeded in pitching so that the groundsheet properly aligns with the fly, meaning the middle pod, used for the first time recently, just doesn't hang upright and sags badly because the groundsheet (to which it connects) isn't pulling it taut.

The 2009 SIG version probably solves some of this, and it also has an improved pole/sleeve arrangement which should reduce pitching time, but the damage is done and wifey wants a warmer, more spacious tent. She also thinks the Outwells on our site looked universally better pitched than the Vangos - not sure myself.

First tent bought for a four person family. Needed some practice to put up in good time but now takes two of us 60 mins but often needs latter adjustment. Spacious and strong in the wind. Plenty of room to dine inside! Can get hot in the summer. Have learnt the benefits of separate ground sheet Would recommend to first time family campers.

Major drawback is the groundsheet which is flat on the ground with no raisers connecting to the fly. Otherwise a great tent with loads of central dome space allowing you to put a small table and chairs under the canvas to enjoy an evening protected from the weather. The sleeping areas have no real headroom, but then that's where you sleep so this shouldn't be a problem unless you need to sleep upright.

Perhaps a little on the large side for erection and packing the car, but in bad weather it is great for sitting 8 to dinner in the main section. Pods are suitable for sleeping and storing stuff. Fab.

(Don't like our dark blue colour, though: a bit oppressive)

Now has a fully sew in groundsheet and is very easy to assemble. Very much improved version of the 2008 model. Only took 2 of us 45 minutes. Had a shower once we were away and remained intact. Benefit of the sew in groundsheet was that we had no dampness and no creepy crawlies in the living area

Ideal family tent. Have used for short holiday in the UK Aviemore and Perth and for main holiday (2 weeks) last year in Vendee area of France. Relatively easy to erect, spacious and has the advantage of separate sleeping compartments. Main dome area easily takes large table and six foldable chairs. Excellent for socialising. Also have large sun canopy where you can set up picnic table and stove to fully enjoy the outdoor living experience. Sun canopy not 100% stable in strong winds, detaches from tent and folds flat.

Detachable ground sheet makes life easier when returning home as you can clean it separately from the tent.

Would recommend this tent to any first time campers.
