Just bought this from ebay as I had to leave my lichfield on site after our last trip. It took about 1 hour to pitch which as this was my first time was good, will be quicker next time.Plenty room and bedrooms are very big. Think I got myself a bargain, my only moan would be that the actual tent bag must have blown away while we were pitching. Strong winds and rain 1 of the nights but the tent was really sturdy and no rain came in.

This is the first and only tent my husband and I have bought and we use it about 2 or 3 times a year. We're dreading the day we need to replace it. I know it might seem a bit extravagant to use it for just the two of us but we find it makes for a very relaxed holiday as even if the weather is awful there is space to relax and dry wet walking clothes.

It takes about 1 hour for us to set up the pitch - this includes putting all our stuff in the tent, including pumping up air bed, making bed (duvets for us not sleeping bags), setting up kitchen area and opening first glass of wine!

I would thoroughly recommend this tent.

I know this tent is no longer available but I figure if you were looking to buy second-hand then maybe you might find your way here to read up about them. I have had this tent for a few years now and I have to say its still going up and down every year. There are signs of wear and tear to some of the not so important area's but mostly down to misuse by me :/ . The main area that is starting to show signs of wear are the pole sleeves from repeated threading and un threading of the flexi-poles.One of the tubes now has a rip in it but not in the direction of the threading but across it, this again might be down to user error/misuse/haste!

Over all I agree with all the positive comments and any negative comments may or may not be true but I put this down to individual user experience, my tent has been great with very few issues. If I was to buy this tent again I would buy the one with the extra bedroom pole (mine was the earlier one without it).

If any one has ever complained about it being unstable id wind then I would guess they never had it set up correctly. I survived a week on shell island in very harsh winds when all other tents around me were breaking and flapping and ripping in the high winds. One morning the site had almost been cleared of tents because of the wind, only about a dozen tents were left standing and they were all Vango's 9 of them at least were Diablo's!

One point I would have put down as a minor issue is that the side door of the porch needs a rain gutter as when open it lets rain drip inside to easily!

Other than that an amazing tent and am sad that Vango no longer sell it, Im going to try and find a Diablo 900 xp/dlx on ebay coz after witnessing death to tunnel tents on shell island I have a lot of faith in the design of the diablo.

We have the earlier model of this i.E the one without the extra pole for the pods to give extra height.

This tent meets all our needs. We are 2 adults, 1 toddler and 2 dogs.

Pods are comfortable for 2 but a bit of squeeze for 3.

The tent is one of the warmest I have camped in but that is the price you pay for inner tent first pitching.

Pitching takes 2 of us about and hour. It can be tricky to get right on uneven ground as the dome flops over a bit but it doesn't seem to cause any problems.

We have the kitchen setup in the porch and there is still plenty of room for mucky gear. The front door on our model opens out to make a reasonable canopy so we can get plenty of ventilation and room whilst cooking.

The main living area is great for Spring/Autumn camping when the evenings are a bit too chilly to sit out in.

It is large so finding somewhere to dry it can be tricky. If the weather is fine when we get home I open it out over both cars on our drive. It soon dries.

Good tent for a family who camp at both ends of the season.

Very impressed with this tent. Purchased 2nd hand on ebay this summer and following one practice pitch myself and two girlfriends spent a week in Cornwall in it.

Well firstly 'respect' to those who say they can pitch in 30-45 mins. I timed both our pitches and the best so far is 1hr 15mins with three of us. It's not that it is difficult to pitch, it's very obvious what goes where but this is a big tent with a lot of guy lines. You definitely need two to pitch, but three is even better when it comes to raising the inner tent and locating the pins etc.

Mine came with footprint groundsheet which is excellent as the tent groundsheet is clean and dry to pack away at the end of the trip. As this tent is discontinued I could not get a model specific carpet. I found useful information on the members forum of this website indicating that the living area is similar in shape and size to the Outwell Hartford L. Without checking I just ordered a carpet online - and happily it is virtually a perfect fit. Carpet does make the interior cosy, gives greater insulation and for me it meant we could have tables and chairs in the living area and not worry about damaging/puncturing the tent groundsheet.

We had masses of space and head height, not sure I would want to sleep 3 in each bedroom pod, 2 is ok tho. Living area is so big you could have several sleeping in it if you needed to. The porch is a great size too and like most people we set up our camp kitchen in here and there was room still to move around, store boots and wet gear etc.

In terms of performance: we had a lot of rain and high winds during the week. The tent withstood the wind very well and nothing broke or came loose. The bedroom pods and living area remained dry with the exception of about an egg cupful of water in one pod which may have come in where the previous owners had over tensioned and torn the groundsheet. This had been badly repaired and I'd already strengthened it with duct tape. It is easy to over tension this area and it is not strong enough to take it - so beware. We had a small leak in the porch on a seam, however the tent is 3 yrs old, has been used 6 times now and never been re-proofed so fair enough really! The previous owners had put it away wet and I can't imagine this did it a great deal of good either. I will be re-proofing.

We had no condensation whatsoever in the inner tent despite the rain and some cold nights - so full marks to Vango for that. Just a little condensation in the porch but then it is single skin and the groundsheet is not sewn in. Ventilation is good too. Mosi nets were very welcome - this was a very spidery site and with two of us being arachnophobes they became known as spider nets.

I think this tent is luxurious and well made and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I think it is a good investment and will last years. Because of it's size and not being able to put it up easily on my own, I am looking to purchase a smaller tent for shorter trips on my own.

Great tent. Superb space inside, we have sat 8 people in the middle bit on camp chairs when raining without feeling at all cramped. Lots of pockets and comes with a handy tent tidy for the porch. Takes us about 30 mins to put up with 2 of us. Easy and clear instructions to put up. They also make carpets for the middle section, which we have as stops the crinkly noise our dogs make walking around swapping beds and so on in the night. Also makes it feel warmer.

A really great tent.

Have used this tent a couple of times now and I'm pretty new to tenting. This tent is pretty easy to put up and take down even when I'm on my own, obviously an extra person helps particularly when erecting the inner. Size is fine for a family of 6. The porch is very useful. Only problem was that the zip broke (a bit too easily) on the front porch door, so I will have to try and get that repaired now.

Borrowed one at the weekend, didn't have time to practice pitching it so first time was on the site, a bit of a challenge first time but I imagine next time will be easier. Great design, plenty of space and the porch is great for escaping from the midges and or sun. All in all we really enjoyed the space, a great first time camping experience

Just bought second Vango Diablo 600, this on is XP as all we could get would have preferred DXL because the front door is much better as can be used as small canopy.

This is the only tent that suits us (couple with two kids 11 & 14) thats why we just bought an out of production tent this week.

Likes:

The porch is great for leaving the kitchen set up all the time out of the living area.

It keeps out the Sottish midges (fully sealed/netted living area & bedrooms).

The bedrooms are not adjacent.

The porch is great for storing boots and other wet/dirty stuff.

The porch has enough room for 4 of us to rush-in in the rain - take our wet things off under shelter so the living area is keep clean and dry.

Mega weather proof for its class.

Warm.

Sturdy.

Plenty of space in bad weather.

Easy to put up, take down and fold to fit in bag.

Dislikes:

Inner-first pitch.

Want the front door that doubles as canopy (they were far from perfect, but very useful).

Too big to put up in our garden to dry/check etc.

Curved walls mean can't have high square storage units in living ares (v minor point).

Would have loved to have a fly-sheet first pitch tent but don't have the midge protection and warmth of this tent as far as I can see. I have put it up in the wet and its not that bad to dry the inner with a chamois leather and a breeze. Don't need a foot print as very easy to fold with the muddy part of the ground sheet not touching anything else.

Relay adding a review as none of the photos attached to this page are of this tent (all earlier model)! None have the extra poll (XP) for the bedrooms that give more height.

BTW at time of writing the only new ones I could find are @ johnscross.Co.Uk £260 inc delivery in blue.

We were very happy with this tent on all the holidays we took in it. It has masses of space inside, stood up to all the bad weather and was pretty simple to put up. The tent's shape does mean you need a large footprint to pitch it. The only reasons we moved on to an Outwell Bear Lake 6 are:

1) The BL6 is polycotton so didn't get so hot in the sun (not a problem in the UK!)

2) Taller bedrooms so you can stand up in them.

3) Straight edges in the living space for putting furniture up against.
