We purchased this tent as an upgrade from our Sunncamp Haven 800 as we wanted an airbeam and polycotton tent.

CONS -

This tent is very very heavy, its takes two of us to lift into the car.

It is not the easiest tent to inflate as the weight of the tent doesn't allow the bladders to pump up properly unless someone crawls in the tent and gives them a lift. Once this is done it inflates quickly and easily. I would think the 12 minutes to inflate that Vango advertise is if the bladders are unobstructed. The twelve minutes does not include all the pegging, guy ropes and porch canopy.

Our tent has loads of loose threads hanging off the seams, some needed cutting off, some just pulled off. Even so a disappointing finish on a £1500 tent.

Even though the tent had been weathered, it leaked at the bottom seam of all three side windows which then stained the curtains and dripped all over the carpet

The bedroom compartments seem a little strained on the front bottom fixing.

The curtains on the front are fiddly to close as you need to crawl down on the floor to reach the toggles although the side zipped curtains are easy and look nice and tidy when drawn.

Only one cable entry point. Would be better with one on each side.

Side door only has a fly screen not a window

If you use the side door when it has rained or is raining, be prepared for water run off to drip into the tent.Best to use the front door.

You cant hang a light in the middle of the tent as there are no velcro cable ties. Although there are some hidden above the sleeping compartments so you need to hang your light further back.

PROS -

The tent is very large and roomy and the sleeping compartments blocked out a lot of the early morning light

Good ventilation points

Warm inside and not noisy in the wind like a nylon tent.

Very stable, even in windy conditions

Dries very quickly after rain

Packs back easily into the carry bag although it takes ages to get all the air out so you can roll it up properly.

Nice panoramic views out the front windows

Overall, I think Vango have quality control during manufacture could have been better and a bit of extra thought in the design would have made it better.

I currently have a Vango Salina 400 which I love, so I wanted a new tent with all Salina’s good points with further advantages. I wanted a 3rd bedroom, both doors to have mosquito netting, and the ability to stand the tent up if I went camping with just girls. Also having an attached sun canopy instead of using a tarp was a plus. This tent seemed to tick so many boxes on my wish list and because of this, I can forfeit the weight issue.

I received my Eden 600 in March and we put it up straight away. It went up easily and the pressure gauge worked once I sorted out the inflating technique (long & slow instead of short and fast). Also you need to have the beams on the Velcro patches and these are to one side of the zip openings. The tent is heavy as expected and when we packed it away we removed the bedrooms from the canopy to make inflating next time a little less effort; the bedrooms were left still attached to the floor though.

I expected to have some drips during the weathering, but it was up 10 days in March and there were no drips at all. We had a week with rain, storms and hail and incredible wind which knocked down the neighbour’s fence. We had to knock ice off the top of the tent. The tent stayed up fine. It didn’t seem to budge. One of the beams did not blow up to the full 7 psi and bowed a bit in comparison to the other beams (nearest the canopy); though the tent stayed up no problem and the bowing didn’t cause any collapse. A new beam was sent to rectify this a week later, but I haven’t yet attempted to change it as the tent coped; waiting for my holiday in June.

There were no issues with the sewing on the tent which is good. Love the big yellow pegs. They were easy to hit into the ground. I can’t always get the metal ones out of the ground even despite the tool for it due to lack of strength, but these were fine. I do have a bad back and it usually goes into spasm when helping to stand a tent (more like not helping to stand it). The inflating of this tent didn’t do that, though we were all too eager to get inside to stand it up before we had inflated it enough – not a good idea as a deflated tent is very heavy.

Folding was OK if you fold the front and back ends into the centre twice and then fold them onto each other, then roll towards the open side door. Put the bag on top after rolling back the top trim of the bag and then roll the whole lot upright. I found the wheels on the bag were sufficient to move the tent. The black drawstring bags for the items that come with the tent were good and everything fitted into the largest which we have left out of the main bag.

There is no way I can lift this tent into my car myself but my brother was able to do it for me without help.

I have to consider tents around asthma. I found Eden’s lack of condensation and its breathability was good. Even when it was wet weather outside it felt comfortable to breathe in it. The bedroom material is also a polycotton so is a further benefit.

All in all, the tent is great and we can’t wait to go camping with it.

It really was a hard between this and the Outwell harrier xl but in the end we decided to go for the Vango due to the price.

Ordered it mid April from a company fulfilled by amazon only to be told a week later that a batch of the Vango eden v 600xl had been quarantined and inspected (including mine) but of course reasons were very hush hush. Well 2 weeks passed and after many phone calls I eventually received a call from the managing director of the company I ordered it from. He was extremely apologetic and in the end let slip that there had been a tent that left the factory (in China) that had some loose threads.

Well a few days later the tent arrived. Came in a nice heavy carry bag. I could just about lift the thing up by myself but with a few rips and tears from the handles either side of the bag. Not a good start.

Booked a campsite (West Kyloe campsite (lovely by the way) near holy island) at short notice with the family.

Turned up, pegged the footprint out and unrolled the tent. Pegged the four corners out and proceeded the pump up the individual airbeams. This is where the problems began.

I pumped the airbeams up to the specified pressure (7/8 PSI) and the sheer weight of the polycotton and the fixed awning meant the airbeams kept collapsing. Upon guying each of the beams out and a lot of the wife holding things up, they eventually locked into position. Things however looked a bit odd.

The second from rear airbeam seemed higher than the rest throwing the rear airbeam off and causing it to permanently kink. Pegged the rest of the guys and ground sheet out and put the awning up.

Got inside and this is where things really started to go wrong.

I had a look at the second from rear airbeam (that was sitting too high) and could only figure out that either the beam itself was too long or the velcro pad which the beams sit on had been sewn into the groundsheet in the wrong position. This put some unusual stresses on the sleeping compartments making them really taught.

We also noticed there was around 10 x 1 cm black marks in the ground sheet (some nearly completely piercing). This was actually the first thing we noticed before moving anything into the tent.

Also there was a patch glued to the groundsheet by one of the airbeams. Completely unacceptable considering this was a brand new tent.

We had an evening of rain and the tent leaked at the seams, through the windows and from the canvas itself. I know new tents will leak to a certain degree (weathering) but having to mop around 2 liters of water in the morning was a bit excessive. We also found 2 nice little 5mm holes in one of the seams.

And to top it all off, the main reason the tent was delayed (loose threads), well there was between 50-100 loose threads. Some were completely loose and just pulled out but the vast majority were still attached. There was also a lot of extra material on a lot of the seams where it hadn't been finished off properly.

Very disappointing from a £1500 tent. You will get a better finish from a halfords special.

Good points - Bedrooms are dark and the boy had no trouble sleeping though until 8am or so.

Apart from that vary disappointing.

The Outwell is worth the extra outlay IMO.

After buying the Eden 600XL, we put the tent up before going away as we wanted to be sure in our minds how this thing went up. Great decision as it's not getting the tent up - it's trying to pack the thing away! This tent is HEAVY, we couldn't get it back into the bag. Not to mention the amount of space it takes up in the boot of the car (we have an estate) After phoning the company who sold it to us at the Camping and Caravan show we were advised to use the poles as a guide to roll up to the width of the poles. Thankfully this worked. Nothing else was going into the bag though - i.E. Pump and pegs. At Easter we pitched up at Pentewan Sands and the tent went up fine, we were very lucky with the weather until the Sunday when we had heavy wind and rain. The tent did leak on the seams of the windows which made the curtains really wet. (Not sure if this was our fault as we didn't weather the tent before hand, as we were told we didn't need to? But after the phone call we were told we should have?) The beams started to buckle with the weight, but again not sure if it was us as we have no real experience with such a big tent and air beams?

Other than that it's a lovely tent, very spacious, fantastic sleeping compartments which stay dark in the morning and a gorgeous amount of windows which you can control the amount of privacy you desire and we had many admirers.

Luckily the day we left was dry and the tent had chance to dry out. I have to say though it would fill me with dread trying to put this tent away if it was wet - I really don't know if we could do it.

Well just done our first pitch and weathered the Eden and wow what a tent quality is amazing

Pretty standard to erect the tent as we've owned a couple of airbeams

Yes this tent is heavy and there's no way around it be prepared to do some lifting so park as close as you can to your pitch

But it's worth it

This is our first polycotton tent and you can really feel the difference when inside

The sound and the overall feel really explains why this tent commands the price tag

Will edit this review once we have really used this great tent

Well done Vango

Beautifully made tent. Sales teams rarely cover the weight of the tent. This weighs at least the claimed weight. When wet will be considerably more. Two people needed to move the thing around when packed. Not for anyone with a bad back! Difficult to lift to a height eg roof rack. More to follow to once we've experienced the tent in wind and rain etc.

Well having received our Eden 600XL on Friday after seeing it at the camping and caravan show, we gave it a run out this weekend.

Quality - Excellent, good materials and nice touches inside with various pockets and storage compartments. Very sturdy peg loops and pegs.

Construction - Easy once you have done it and familiarized yourself with the layout. Important!- make sure the Airbeams are fixed to the velcro pads on the base of the tent before inflation, otherwise the tent will not properly support itself. And this tent is HEAVY!

Packing away - Absolute nightmare first time around, getting it back in the bag is a no go, we have almost managed it but without the canopy poles and peg bag, the difficulty lies in the weight of the tent, no clear guidance on folding etc. TAKE NOTE of how it unfolds when you take it out for the first time.

An interesting flattening technique is lying on the floor then rolling down the tent. We were desperate and surprisingly it worked!

Overall - amazing space, great looks, easy to put up. But very very heavy - do not underestimate the 67KG this tent weighs.

Consider a bigger bag!

Oh . And make sure your garden is big enough so you can put it up if it ever needs drying out after your break. It's rather large!
