An excellent well designed tent, lightweight and roomy enough for two adults and a child.

Standing room in the porch area.

Quality does not seem as good as other tents I have owned, but time will tell.

Not been tested in very heavy weather yet, but looks quite stable.

Only criticism I have is the flappy tent fabric around the porch area which will let in water to the groundsheet if not careful. I have fitted some clips with bungee chords to fix this.

Shouldn't have to do this with a brand new tent as they should be field tested first by experienced campers (like me)

I would recommend this tent for a weekend only, not long term.

Construction - from new pitch outer first, (but pack away all in one so future pitches are all in one), tunnel design. Outer fabric - ProTex 70D polyester with a 5000mm hydrostatic head. Inner fabric - Polyester with 6000 mm hydrostatic head.

Pitching is very straight forward with colour coded poles, so you can't go wrong. It took me about 20 minutes to pitch it on my own.

The bedroom area is 210 cm (6 ft 10 ins) long, 180 cm (5 ft 10 ins) wide, 118 cm (3 ft 10 ins) high at lowest point and 132 cm (4 ft 3 ins) at highest point. Has a fully sealed polythene bathtub, with two handy mesh storage pockets on either side. There is a meshed vent at the rear, and a full zipped mesh door to keep the bugs out. The mesh is fine so no bugs got in. Rated as a 3 berth, it is very comfortable for 2 people, it would be a bit snug with 3 adults. Very good ventilation so hardly any condensation build up.

The vestibule is 230 cm (7 ft 6 ins) long, 220 cm (7 ft 2 ins) wide. Total tent length 440 cm (14 ft 5 ins) at lowest point and 187 cm (6 ft 1 ins) at highest point. It was this vestibule that attracted me to this tent, at 6'2' I can more or less stand up to get changed, no more lying on my back or struggling on my knees! The area is spacious enough to accommodate 2 chairs and a table and our backpacks/gear. The groundsheet is detachable which makes cleaning easy. With two side windows are clear and have covers for privacy and a small skylight window for plenty of light in the day, and watching the stars at night! A great chill area in bad weather.

Manufacturer's Description

The Vango Galaxy 300 tent was created based on feedback from youth group leaders. Constructed with a large front porch ideal for map reading, storage and keeping dry, whilst the bedroom is lower therefore keeping the user warmer through the night. The clip in riser porch ground sheet allows a clean dry storage area whilst reducing draughts. The Galaxy is ideal for adventurers looking for a bit of extra room but with a good space to weight ratio. This 3 man tent offers added stability with TBS®II used on the tunnel structure. Perfect for those wild camping in a group or on a weekend away at a campsite
