Bought this from Outdoor Megastore. Also bought the footprint and carpet. Footprint is well worth it. Saves messing up the tent base and also let's you see where the huge tent is going to go. Carpet is comfy and amazingly stain resistant after oil and wine! The tent itself is very airy. The bedroom vent can be too airy and we are going to reduce it's size with velcro and spare canvas. Not a problem on warm nights - but on windy nights it's too breezy. Doors are good, and didn't miss the fact the main door doesn't have a fly mesh door as well. We have bought some sticky velcro to secure the main door at the base, as this is liable to flap in the wind. The tent is excellent in quality, and very roomy for 2 adults and 2 children. We had 8 people sat in chairs in the lounge area, and there was still plenty of room. It takes about an hour to put it up, guy ropes, footprint and carpet, but the time is coming down each time.

Now for the bad bit. When we first put it up, the poles shattered in two places (after ten minutes!) Gaffa tape saved the day, but the shape of the tent was very weird. After complaining to Megastore they said poles are not covered by the guarantee! After quoting the Consumer Act and the lifespan of products, and the fact we had put it all together properly (we are experienced campers!) they eventually sent all new poles! These have been fine, and the tent is now 100% perfect. I would recommend the footprint to protect your investment and the carpet has made tenting more comfortable. All in all, good value, easy to put up, and very roomy. Outdoor Megastore were good to replace poles free of charge, but it took some effort, and they blamed us for not putting the poles together correctly! There is only one way! However, I wouldn't be put off dealing with them again - and I would buy Vango again too.

I recently purchased one of these tents and have used it once this year. This is a great tent for the money, stacks of room and easy to pitch. Sure we will get quicker with practise. Ours stood up to howling winds and we did get it back into the bag first time. I would definitely recommend this tent. Not sure if you could sleep six with comfort but stacks of living space. I bought the side porch which is fantastic for cooking, wet boots etc, well worth the extra money.

Just bought the tent it is exclusive to outdoor megastore website. Put up in 15 mins & then the same for guy ropes pegs etc. Very Very spacious tent living area is 3.9m x 3.90m. Great tent & value for money, you can also get the footprint groundsheet & the carpet for this tent. The bedrooms are split into two so room for 3 in each side although 2 on each side if adults would be more realistic. Great value, loads of space & very easy to put up. Highly recommended.

Manufacturer's Description

The Vango Icarus 600 DLX is a limited edition tent that is unique to Outdoor Megastore. The tent is essentially the new Icarus 600 but with an extra wall panel added that has the effect of extending out the front of the tent by approx. 1.2m to create much more living space. The additional panel will feature two additional window panels to ensure the tent remains light and airy but otherwise the tent is as per the standard Icarus 600. You can also add the two extensions to the Icarus 600 DLX - the standard Icarus 600 Sun Canopy can be added to the front of the tent and the Vango Tunnel Extension can be added to the side.

The Icarus tent range is likely to prove even more popular in 2010 due to the fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 4-pole no hassle construction will make it the most ideal of weekend tents. The tent frame is constructed using Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 2000 Polyester flysheet (2000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts. The other key features of the tent include, as-one pitching, single 6-berth sleeping compartment (with roll back divider), TBS tension band (Stan likes Status Quo) system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH internal groundsheet, side 'J' door with mesh double door, heavy duty continuous poles sleeves, storm skirts, pelmet with storage pockets, cable entry point, front door mesh vent, reflective webbing (helps aliens encounter you), 'Crystal Clear' windows (with internal covers), breathable fabric inner tent, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun porch (porch poles not provided). Handled carry bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout.
