Although this tent is a sixth berth one there are only the two of us, my wife and I, who use it. I have tried other smaller tents but when the weather turns or it's for a long stay I found them too small.
This tent is perfect for a week or more away. Easy to put up with two people and also to take down. A bit of a struggle to get the tent back in the bag but that's more to do with my origami skills than the tent's size.
I do find it a little hard to get the fabric tight so it doesn't flap but I have done it before so again it's more to do with me than the design of the tent.
We've used the tent twice so far and both times had typical 'Summer' weather, wind and rain with occasional heavier rain. We stayed dry and warm both times. Nothing broke or tore. We were comfortable in the living area with two chairs and a table, and all the assorted cases and bits and bobs that you end up taking.
The windows are well placed and let in plenty of any available light. The tent is airy without letting through a draft.

This is my second review for this tent and can't praise it enough. We have just got back from Cofton Country Holidays in Devon and we were court in the 50 /60 mile an hour winds Thursday night which our 4 year old son slept right the way through, while myself husband and two girls were awake till 4.30 am . On several occasions we did support the walls of the tent with our hands, it was a very scary night! Heavy rain was forecast for the next day as well. The tent really did take a battering but not one broken pole and not one leak. Fab little tent.

Great tent , used this tent in February in heavy rain and wind never let a drop in, and stood up well to the wind, used it last week in tenby, rained heavy for nearly 12 hours no problem at all, only thing is front door if raining ,like others have said when you open the door if it,s raining the water gets in , but easily solved, we use a tarp over the door

We have just bought this tent and are very pleased with it. The bedroom consists of one inner with a 'curtain' divider which can be removed, which is better than our previous Vango tent (two inners which wouldn't take our two large single airbeds in one of the bedrooms). We used this tent for the first time three weeks ago. The weather was good, so I can't comment on it's ability to keep the water out, but found that there is plenty of space in the front section for a table and chairs along with our camp kitchen etc. The small zip on the side for the electric cable is a great idea although we didn't discover it until we were taking the tent down! The shoe pockets are great. The only downside is the front door. I can imagine it having the potential of being a fire safety hazard as it is a bit of a faff to open (I have been in a tent when a fire started and a quick escape is essential. Having said that there is a side door that opens more easily and in my opinion should be kept clear for this reason). This door could have been designed better I think. We saw this tent at a camp show - the door had been left open and the rain had come in to the tent, but this didn't put us off and the positives outweigh the negatives. We are considering buying the canopy for next season, but feel that it is not essential. The 'all in one' aspect of this tent is fantastic as there are no drafts as with our previous tent. There are plenty of vents on the other hand for fresh air. My husband is 6'3' and the head height is great (he was constantly ducking in the previous tent). Overall a great tent and we will be keeping it for some time to come.

This is the 1st tent we have owned.
It is a small 6 berth, but as a family of 3 it was more than adequate.
The weather was good so I cannot comment as to how it would be in wet weather, but we felt the canopy would be a good investment.
The tent was easy to erect (it was out of the car and erected, guy ropes pegged out within the hour, with a little help from the wife! and packed away in the bag, in a similar time)

We bought our surf blue Icarus 600 in July 2012. We are not experienced campers, this is our first tent and before July had never been camping before. We bought it in the sale and came with the enclosed front extension. Experienced camper friends told me to get the biggest tent I could afford ! We also bought the carpet for the tent. The tent takes about 30 mins to put up incl. Getting the guide ropes out and a further 20 mins for the extension. We take the middle divider down and have just one large bedroom, double air bed in the middle and a single each side for our two boys, there's lots of room between the beds for lanterns etc, this sleeps six, but I think 5 would be comfortable. Our friends have an Outwell Nevada m and there are a couple of things about their tent that I feel the Vango misses, but not enough for me to want to spend that much on a tent. For example, the side door needs a window and a small canopy over it would be good to stop rain falling into tent when you open the door. The doors can't be opened and easily tied back, they have to be fully rolled up, so this would be a suggestion to Vango. But our friends like ours because it's darker inside and better for sleeping! The front extension is very spacious and gives you that additional space for storage, cooking, eating etc. Just returned from second camping trip and just found some more storage pockets in the bedroom ! We love this tent and I am very pleased we bought it.

Great weekend tent for a family of 4 with two dogs we have only had good weather to test it out in on the two weekends we have used it this year.
So quick and easy to put up compared to our other tents my husband can do it by himself in about 20-30 mins after only two outings.
I have found the clips on the bedroom compartment difficult to unclip and the plastic looks a bit brittle.

Had a few tents incl one of the heavy but brilliant-once-up canvas tent, but this one takes the biscuit. It's roomy, light and keeps the elements out. It was very reasonably priced and is quite light to carry. It's very easy to put up and hardly ever looks 'drunk' when up.
Downsides are the front door flops inwards so lets the rain in when opened (so will get a canopy); and husband is 6'2' so he only just fits the bedroom lengthways (so will chop his feet off).
Wouldn't swap this tent for anything else.

We were avid, enthusiastic campers until 2008, when my husband had a stroke. In 2010, we decided to give camping another go despite my husbands disabilities. We needed a tent that was large enough to cope with his demands, yet easy enough for me to put up single handedly if needed. After searching high and low and visiting numerous tent shows, we found one.The Vango Icarus 600! It is one of the easiest tents I have ever put up (I can do it in 40 mins depending on the wind factor). We use the bedroom area(s) as one room which gives ample room for camp beds, storage, AND my husband`s electric wheelchair. The living area allows room for chairs, table, cooking and storage area, yet STILL has room for my husband to move around safely with only myself to help him. We have used this tent on beautiful summers days and extremely windy and wet days. The wind and rain has never caused us a problem. There are numerous pockets for storage. A family member who is a first time camper borrowed this tent with her husband and 3 children and loved it. They are now regular campers! HIGHLY recommended to anyone.

We bought our Icarus in the august sale of 2010 and its been a FAB tent! we have been away in it quite a few times, weekends and a 9 night stay in cornwall (although we did purchase the extension too for this!) and we cannot fault it at all. We are a family of 2 adults and a 7 year old and a 4 year old and its perfect. It is amazingly easy to put up, videos on line help. But pegging back two corners down then putting poles through, then poles into ring and pin system and its done. You just have to pull it up and forward and its standing ready for pegging! easiest tent i've had by far. Withstood rain, wind etc so far with no probs. Love fly screen mesh on side door, really does help in summer. Vango do seem to think of everything you may want, electric point hole with zip for hook up, ventilation above windows, ventilation for bedrooms (part mesh doors) just a great tent all round and easy enough to pitch for just one night if needed I think.
The only reason we are moving on is we would like a bigger tent anyway as kids are getting older and we going for Vango Samara as they will have a bedroom each as they get older and more room in the living area.So ours is going to sis in law.I shall be sad to see it go! But highly recommend this tent :)

Manufacturer's Description
The Vango Icarus 600 is a new size being introduced into the highly popular range for the 2010 season. The Icarus range is likely to prove even more popular in 2010 due to the fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 3-pole no hassle construction will make it the most ideal of weekend tents.
The tent frame is constructed using Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 2000 Polyester flysheet (2000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts.
The other key features of the tent include, as-one pitching, single 6-berth sleeping compartment (with roll back divider), TBS tension band system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH internal groundsheet, side 'J' door with mesh double door, heavy duty continuous poles sleeves, storm skirts, pelmet with storage pockets, cable entry point, front door mesh vent, reflective webbing, (helps aliens encounter you) 'Crystal Clear' windows (with internal covers), breathable fabric inner tent, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun sun porch (porch poles not provided). Handled carry bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout.
