Bought this tent from Caseys at the start of the season

Absolutely love the ease of pitching and striking compared to our Kampa Classic

Unfortunately must have got the Friday afternoon model TWICE!

First time, tent leaked (Jubilee Weekend)-not round the beams as may have been expected but through the tent fabric onto the bedroom inner then onto us-took some photos and caseys changed it for us after several emails back and forth.

Second tent-one of the smaller beams deflated after 10mins up which had the same effect as having a broken pole-the tent stayed up through judicious guying techniques-what a disappointment-this is an Ł800 tent.

Caseys arranged to send us a replacement beam and we replaced it on friday

Here comes the worrying part-when we removed the leaking inner tube-we found the leak had been circled with a pen mark-which means a substandard product had been sold to us.

We are waiting for the rain again to have a last go at pitching this tent before we write it off as we so want it to work!

If this one leaks-we are giving the airbeam up as a brilliant idea badly executed! and seeking our money back

In answer to Ayshf m - we got fed up stuffing the tent into a tiny bag as well, so we cut out the bottom partition in the bag and this makes it easier to pack away - put the pump etc on top. The mud issue was sorted with a couple of cheap rubber backed mats from Wilkinson.

We occasionally get very slight dampness under our beams, where velcroed to the floor - on inspecting the underside of the ground sheet there are a pair of perforations under each airbeam end what they are for I don't know, - could this cause water to be sucked up off the footprint by capillary action when it rains heavily?

Respect to the 600 owner who camped in Wales during the recent gales and had a good time by the sound of it.

We had this tent awhile and used it twice, once in the garden and once in anger at the weekend (in Cheddar).

Prompted to write because here I learned I'm inflating it too much (5 psi used.)

Overall it's a great Tent. Really does go up in minutes which is brilliant. Watching people trying to figure out which poles go where on their big tents makes me sure that this was the right choice.

The negs

When we got it leaked a bit, this was down to water tranfer from the fastening/cords, we used weather proofing stuff to stop this. Over the weekend monumental amounts of rain fell on us in Cheddar and the tent again leaked a tiny bit, but given the conditions I think any tent would have (20 cm in a weekend and torrential overnight).

No porch area so you can't easily avoid traipsing muddy shoes in. This could partially be solved by having a pole arrangement on the side doors.

As mentioned elsewhere quality control was a bit stipshot, room and bag had to be returned as they had rips when bought.

Trolley bag is too small, looks the same size as the 600. This one vexes me, Vango when you sell me a 700 quid tent give me a bag it'll fit into easily, when it's windy, wet and the tent is dirty arsing around trying to get it back into an infeasibly small carry case pees me off and in turn gets you a comment like this on the WWW.

Overall though for the occasional camper that wants a decent sized tent I think it's good.

Any suggestions for a bigger bag it'll easily fit into would be welcome!

Just returned from a week in Tenby and our Infinity 800 has been brilliant. We have had no problems despite strong winds and heavy rain. No leaks and no punctures.

I think the footprint made a big difference as the top was dry when we packed away.

The only downside is that the door that opens as a porch does not have eyelets so it can be propped open.

We used our Vango Airbeam 800 last month, touch wood, no rain or high winds so I cant comment on if it leaked etc . What I will say though is that its a doddle to put up . Literally in minutes and as for deflating and packing away it took us about 10 mins . We're away again in it soon so if it does rain and it leaks in its going straight back to where we bought it from. Overall I'm impressed with it up to now.

Can only agree with Pablo. Gave 2 stars for ease of erection otherwise useless, leaked like a sieve, pools of water at each beam, and any gust of wind made it seem as though it was raining in the tent. Even though we followed the three psi rule on top of that our central beam had a valve leak not repairable with puncture kit and had to be reinflated every 2 hours. Now yeomans are refusing to refund as we have owned over 28 days so once sorted will never deal with them again

Ok so we read the reviews and noted that some had suffered a leak problem but thought well they can't all be bad! how wrong we were. We have a Gelert Horizon 8 which has stood up to some really dreadful wind and rain without fault but the appeal of a fast erection (i know sounds wrong) got the better of us.

So it does inflate in minutes but remember you still have to peg it down. Inside are straps that you tighten to keep the tent rigid,these cause a downside as it then limits space in the tent.

So sun is shining in Paignton and life is good,off to bed then the rain came along with the drip drip inside the tent. Come the morning disaster! 4 out of the 5 beams have pools of water running down them,the window has leaked and our clothes are soaked. To say we were upset would be an understatement. When it rained it wasn't really heavy unlike when we went in our Gelert to Tenby when it didn't stop for 4 days and we were bone dry!

So in summing up don't touch with a barge pole until they sort the problems.Remember this was a Ł760 tent which is now being refunded.

Sorry Vango but we won't be coming back for a long time!

UPDATE:

Ok an update on the Vango review I have above ,full refund from country and outdoors camping store.Excellent.

The response from Vango customer service was disgraceful,in a nut shell they admit to having let a number ie mine go through quality control without having the second coat of waterproofing being put on. No offer of recompense at all for the inconvenience,to which my reply is that I will never look at Vango again.

To Landl if it leaked then its 'not fit for purpose' and the 28 day rule does not apply get a refund.

We purchased an 800 and pitched it in the garden in around the 5 minutes as specced (not including the time taken messing about hanging up the bedrooms, which we left in situ).

We've just got back from 5 days of it's first proper pitch, so I thought a review, given the others on this site, was in order.

Good points: very easy to pump up and pitch; the dark fabric in the bedrooms helped at baby's bedtime; airy with good airflow for dry conditions; waterproof even after a full day's rain; good quality feel to it; lots of pockets above infant reach height; super-fast take-down time, compared to conventionally-poled tents; sturdy; relatively small bag for the size of tent.

Bad points: not the most spacious tent without the additional canopy (of which more below), considering the price; an ehu access point on both exit doors would be useful.

All in all we were pleased with the tent and had no problem with the beams or any leaking due to anything other than our own schoolboy pitching errors with the additional canopy. It was nice and cosy with a bit of Vango tent carpet, and we never really required the electric heater (although perhaps the credit for that goes to the welsh weather).

Additional canopy

We also purchased the additional canopy for the 800 and, having not pitched it before, erected it for the first time.

Good points: adds a nice amount of space to the overall tent package (enough for folding table, chairs, cooker etc); easy to put up and take down.

Bad points: the groundsheet, although good quality, disappointed us in not clipping on to the outer as we'd had in our diabolo 600; the ability to cover the large windows would be useful; positioning of over-flap crucial in wet weather.

Comment: having been able to compare our infinity 800 setup with a chap with a tigris 800, it occurs to me that Vango have made the additional canopy without considering the addition of conventional poles to offer the ability to use the front door as a sun canopy, and the small pole to allow a small cover over the top of the rear door, as the tigris has.

Finally got the 800 very wet. Happy to say no leaks and beams stayed perfectly inflated at 3psi or thereabout the entire 3 days. Found that it is easier to repack if you modify the bag by removing the partition in the bag,as others have done, then putting the pump on top. Also if you leave your 'bedroom' in, as we do, take it down from the flysheet to thoroughly air dry before packing up as condensation lingers here. Very pleased, really quick put up/take down, lots of interested campers who were staggered at how fast we did it. Happy camping!

Please note the following instructions for inflating a Vango AirBeam tent.

Inflate all beams to 3psi. The beams should be guided into an arch as they are inflated by a second person

Once all beams are inflated to 3psi each one can have an additional 1 or 2 'pumps'.

Final beam pressure MUST NOT exceed 4psi
