Got this tent a couple of weeks ago after reading up on it. We were away at the weekend and found good and spacious. Set up time was around 30 -40 min for us as second time we have put it up (dummy run at home before going) but will get easier as we go away more. It rained the first night and had a bit of condensation I think from having heater on. The only fault with it would be the main door if it rains and if its open anything surrounding the door area would get wet. After reading a few reviews, a canopy would sort this, going now to look one up. Also would recommend getting foot print and carpet

I do love this tent. We bought it for the middle wardrobe section (fantastic for storage, leaving main area of tent free) and the separate kitchen area.
Last weekend we found the fatal design flaw though! We have been using the side door(s) - so that we avoided children running through kitchen area. It rained. Heavily. Due to the sloping nature of the roof of the main tent, it simply poured in every time we used the side door (a slight overhang over the side door would help this). When we used the front door, it still managed to rain in and start to flood the kitchen.
I've just ordered the canopy, this will avoid this happening and we'll just use the front door in rain!
But be warned :-)
Having said that, it is one flaw with an altogether well designed and robust tent.

After replacing our old extremely large tent with the Maritsa 500(having trawled many websites, camping shops/exhibitions to decide which would best suit our needs)at the end of last season we couldn't wait to take our tent for it's first run.We weren't disappointed at all.It was easy to pitch taking between 20 to 30 mins at most. We've camped for many years through many weathers always finding windy the worst followed closely by torrential rain lasting many days.On this first five night camping trip we had sun, wind and rain so it was well tested as those who have ever camped on Anglesey will know it's renowned for high wind.It withstood all comfortably. It is bright and airy and also feels cosy at night.Loved it

Just back from 5 days away in this tent. Its lovely although we found it hard to pitch first time, loads of room with zips everywhere so you can make the bedrooms various different sizes. Porch is great, lots of windows and really well thought out design. Carpet is nice underfoot. It never rained so cant comment on that but after more pitching practice will be easier hopefully. A great tent, really spacious and looks nice.

We recently bought this family tent for summer and have had to return it due to several problems. It is now being checked for leaking at window areas as well as a door that will not zip closed. It has been pitched on four occasions with same results. Shop recommended seam seal for leaks, but you should not need to modify a new tent. Stitching looks a bit flimsy in a couple of areas. Has anybody else had problems or have we just got a dog.

We purchased the Maritsa from Go Outdoors. Having looked at the 700, we thought it maybe too big so decided on the 500. We're a family of 4 two boys age 9 and 13, we feel we have plenty of room in this great tent. The 2 bedrooms are snug, there i s no room for storage, but with the wardrobe space in the middle and the hanging rail we have all the storage we need and more. The living area provides us with a good amount of space for those wet evenings. The porch sold it for us we love it, we do all our cooking in there. We find it gets easier to pitch each time we go now taking us only 20 to 30 minutes to put up. Overall we have found ourselves the tent we have been looking for. Thank you Vango for a great family tent.

Bravo Vango!
Attention all families of five - this is a REAL five berth tent, and she looks lovely.
The stylish design is sleek, but the Maritsa is practical too.
My husband and I are not tent experts, and had only pitched a tent on one other occasion - the Maritsa was different. We had her pitched in 25mins - fantastic. Mind you, we found the pitching video on youtube very helpful. It is actually the 700 which is being pitched, but it really is the same tent.
I honestly couldn't get over how easily this tent pitches, and poles all glided into place without any difficulty - a big feat for us. She's like a glorified weekend tent with all you extras in one go.
My eldest daughter likes her own wee space, so she is delighted to have a single bed chamber all to herself, yet still leaving plenty of room for the other two single air beds for younger brother and sister next door.
My room takes a double airbed no problem. But here's a wee tip for avoiding strain on the stitching - when hanging the bedroom inners, do not tighten the toggles too firmly, keep them a little looser and it will give some freedom around the base.
The porch is super! Zips up at night, and is fab for cooking in. We have three lab dogs, so I wanted a place where they could sleep at night. The porch was perfect. Lots of space.
The carpet is a luxury. I totally recommend buying it. Lovely under foot, and nice and cosy.
All in all, this tent is brill, I totally recommend it. Plenty of space without being huge, so nice and cosy at night. BUY ONE!
We bought our tent from Craigdon Mountain Sports in Scotland. They sold for £299 with free postage and packaging which was a big plus when you live in N.Ireland. Other places were adding up to £60 for shipping.
Cant wait to get away in her again.

This is the first tent we have owned and we spent a lot of time researching what we would need for a family of four. The Maritsa 500 was definitely the best choice. Having just come back from a week in Dorset I can confirm it withstands wind and rain with no problems at all. The enclosed front porch is the one thing I insisted on and is a real plus. We have it set up with all the kitchen equipment and there is still plenty of room for wet clothes to dry out.
One thing we did discover on our first trip was that the sleeping compartments weren't big enough for two single airbeds side by side. This is probably down to the width of the air beds we borrowed but we decided to invest in self inflating mattresses instead (brilliant, no pump to forget) and they fit beautifully with space between.
Another great feature is that you don't have to take down the sleeping compartments. I release the front few toggles and we fold the tent away with the compartments in-situ.
A really good buy.

Just sold my Outwell bear lake 6 due to second child and no space in the car. Purchased the Maritsa 500 due to the size and weight, its a lot lighter than my bl6.
Firstly I have owned at least 15 tents and even had 6 at one time. The only makes of tent I'll ever own are Vango, Outwell, Robens and north face. I recently went to Zermatt and dragged my ass up the Matterhorn, got to the Hornli hut just under 11,000 feet and pitched my Vango Typoon. Say no more. The quality is second to none. The Maritsa 5 is solid. They say it takes 40/50 minutes to pitch but I can do it in 20 mins easily however I'm a tent freak and study pitching and designs prior to purchasing. I always say to myself ' how easy is this to pitch when the weather is terrible, and can I do it on my own' cause my missus aint getting out the truck. The Maritsa is a yes for me.
The winner on this tent is the sealed in porch, when the weather turns you can cook under shelter and keep your wet stuff out the main tent area. You can have it zipped or open and with or without ground sheet.I even fetched my bbq under the porch when the rain came, door unzipped of course. The 2 angled doors in the main living area are a very good idea, zip the no see'em mesh doors and you get a good breeze through the tent to cool it in the summer.People have moaned about the pole bag being a bit weak. Solution purchase a rotary washing line cover and cut to the size of your current pole bag.
The best bit. I got mine for £295 from world of tents. My only fault with this tent is that you cant open up the 2 person bedroom into the larger one. It doesn't bother me but the wife does like the kids to be in the same room as us. All in all a top tent, it isn't polycotton but it doesn't have the weight of a polycotton. It should give you half a decade of good camping before its due for a change.

We also purchased a Maritsa 500 from Kenmar, we searched the interweb and they were cheapest by at least £20.
We test pitched the tent in 40 minutes with no problems in a wind. We used it for the first time this weekend in a pretty heavy rain storm.
I would say that it needs at least 2 very competent people or 3 average tenters to pitch it up.
The space and versatility of it is second to none with the porch (which is enclosed can be used for all the cooking and wet boots storage etc. The porch also has a removable groundsheet for easy cleaning.
The main body of the tent is a huge space with 2 more entrance doors and one from the porch, all have flyscreens. There is also a window with roll down blinds on each side of the body.
The sleeping areas are 2 doubles and a single, the single has a hanging rail for clothes, it can also be opened to one of the joining double to give a large area.
Although this is a very well thought out and good quality tent I can find a few faults with ours:-
The stitching between the inner tent walls and the inner tent floors seems to be coming away after only one use, This is only the inner tents though and not the main sewn in groundsheets.
We did find 2 puddles beneath windows after heavy rain. This was sorted with a spray of seam seal.
Me being picky:-
The tent comes in a really good sized hold all type bag with running rails underneath and wheels on for easy moving. The poles on the otherhand are heavier than the canvas and come in a crappy thin nylon bag which feels like it will rip when used more than a few times.
On the whole I am glad we bought this tent, it seems that this is the tent that we have been waiting for. A family of 4 could not find a more practical tent.
